Florida Senator Mel Martinez is apparently set to announce that he will resign as soon as someone is named to take his place. A Republican, Martinez had said late last year that he would retire in 2010 after six years in office.
Now, Charlie Crist, Florida's Is-He-Or-Isn't-He-A-Friend-Of-Dorothy's governor, will appoint a successor to finish out Mel's term, and there is speculation that Charlie might appoint................himself.
He has previously announced his intention to run for the Senate seat.
The reason given for Mel's quick departure is the omnipresent "family problems" which is causing many to speculate that maybe Mel is a hiking buddy of Mark Sanford.
Who's to say, but, man oh man, these Republicans cannot get it together. A finer group of mid-term quitting asshats than I have ever seen.
Of course Crist isn't gay. He's married!
ReplyDeleteHahaha!
Do you know whether or not he could actually appoint himself to the Senate seat? I know he was planning on running for Senate in 2010, but could he really appoint himself?
