I Didn't Say It

Tim Walz, on The Felon’s grift:

“[He]’s all talk when it comes being tough on China. Some of you heard this. We just found out his [Felon]-branded Bibles, yeah, they’re printed in China. This dude even outsourced God to China. I’m going to try and be generous here. I don’t blame him. He didn’t notice the Made in China sticker because they put it inside the bible, a place he’s never looked.”

Oh snap!!

He outsourced God to China!!!!

Maria Bartiromo, Fox “News” talking head, losing her shiz on air:

“[Vogue] should be ashamed of themselves that they never put [Melanie] on the cover. That’s my opinion. And the fact is she was a model, OK, and they refused to put [Melanie] on the cover even when she was first lady. And she was all the talk of the town when they got married. Hillary Clinton was at the wedding. Everybody was toasting Donald and [Melanie]; and suddenly he announces he wants to run for president and then they become the pariah and she’s not allowed on any covers. It’s ridiculous.”

She’s crying because Vogue put Kamala Harris on the cover and never put Melanie there. Seriously, this passes as f*cking news??? Even on Fox?

Now, I go low: Maria Bartiromo best be careful lest they put her on the cover of Dogue.

photo

Mickey Edwards, eight-term GOP Congressman from Oklahoma, saying he’s voting for Kamala Harris:

“After devoting nearly sixty years to the Republican party, holding offices within it and working to advance it, I am going to vote for Harris for president. Every person who truly believe in the principles of the Republican party—and in American Constitutional government—should do the same.”

As I have said before, with every Republican who comes out and says they’re voting for Harris, there are more and more in the closet who will vote for her but are afraid to come out and admit for fear of retribution from Demented DonOLD and his MAGAt cult.

Harrison Butker, ball kicker, once again trying to prove he knows what’s best for women:

“But it’s more talking about how beautiful it is for women to maybe just step aside and prioritize their family and spend time with their children and raise their family. And that’s what I was just trying to speak love about.”

Women need to step aside he said; step aside and spend more time with their children and not working. I just love that a guy whose career is built on kicking a ball wants to tell women how they should live their lives.

Mark Cuban, businessman and television personality, on The Felon:

“I actually started off supporting [him], then I got to know him. He’s unethical. [The Felon] University scam. He told Mike Pence not to certify the election. He called the Georgia Secretary of State and asked for 11.000 non-existent votes. Not to mention that border  crossings were lower under Obama than [The Felon]. Obama took a messed-up economy and improved it, and [The Felon] inherited that. Inflation grew by 25% under [The Felon] over Obama.”

Listen, The Felon calls himself a “businessman” but he bankrupts casinos!! CASINOS!!!

photo

Mark Walker, Chief US District Judge, Northern District of Florida, temporarily barring the DeSantis administration from coercing television stations that air ads in support of the proposed Amendment 4, which would bar government interference in abortion:

“Whether it’s a woman’s right to choose, or the right to talk about it, Plaintiff’s position is the same—'don’t tread on me.’ Under the facts of this case, the First Amendment prohibits the State of Florida from trampling on Plaintiff’s free speech. To keep it simple for the state of Florida, it’s the First Amendment, stupid.”

Stupid. Spot on assessment of Governor Gogo Boots.

Walker’s ruling stops Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo as the head of the Florida Department of Health from acting against broadcasters and the pro-choice ads they air.

The Dumb One Is Daddy's Little Liar

The liar doesn’t fall far from the Liar Tree, and in the case of Eric Trump, while falling from the Liar Tree he hit every single branch on the way down and landed in a pile of lies.

Shortly after Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables” because, like their idol, they are racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic  —  you name it” Little Liar Eric The Rump took to Twitter — again, just like his Daddy — to share this image of a [t]Rump rally in Florida the night before:

Except … that wasn’t an image from the [t]Rump rally, and it wasn’t even in Florida.

According to Mark Cuban, who should know …

And the Keith Olbermann piled on as well:

Look, Little Eric is one of two things:

He either knew this picture wasn’t of a [t]Rump Rally and posted it anyway which makes him a liar, or

He didn’t know it wasn’t a [t]Rump Rally and posted it anyway which makes him an idiot.

Like Keith said, just like his Daddy.

Random Musings

We are in the home stretch to our Sometimes Annual, Sometimes Not, Cinco de Never Celebration at Casa Bob y Carlos.

Limes for the Rice and the Pinto Bean Corn Salad? Check.

Limes for the Chipotle Lime Peanuts? The Bo’s House Special Salsa and Guacamole? Check.

Limes for Margaritas? Double check.

Lemons and Oranges for the Shrimp Ceviche? Check.

Wine? Need a few more bottles …

Beer and Liquor? Check.

Now, it’s just a matter of building ceviche and salsa and guacamole and cooking rice, and heating tamales and sopes and  … and … I best get busy …
Last week I posted about the GOP congressmembers who bullied some of their colleagues into voting down an LGBT-protection clause, and how the Democrats went off on the Republicans for being blatantly anti-LGBT haters.

Well, the congressman who introduced the legislation, openly gay Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney of New York, is not giving up on his anti-discrimination measure to protect LGBT workers.

Tuesday Maloney vowed that he would try and attach his proposal to the energy and water spending bill scheduled to be debated in the House this week and scheduled for a final vote on Thursday.
“There is a majority [in] the House of Representatives right now to oppose discrimination in the workplace [and] … the only way discrimination is going to win is if Kevin McCarthy keeps rigging the votes.” — Congressman Maloney
Let’s hope McCarthy’s fellow Republicans won’t bend to his bullying this time.
I was over the Chewbacca Mom about ten seconds into the video and the fact that now she’s freaking everywhere makes me wanna boycott anything and everything Star Wars.

If you are one of the few who has yet to see it, move on.
A new version of Roots is set to premiere on the History channel next Monday. I am interested, though I often wonder why not just show the original. Sure it’s about forty years old but the story is the same.

That said … Hot Men Alert!

The new Roots stars — clockwise from upper left — Malachi Kirby, Matthew Goode, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Regé-Jean Page.

Ooh yes; a good story and some eye candy.
It might be just me, but aren't the Avengers and X-Men really just the same movie? And even if they aren’t I have no desire to see either one.
Poor Mark Cuban is conflicted …

A day after offering himself up to be Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Cuban, who calls himself an independent, said he is also open to being [t]Rump’s Veep.

How does that happen?
Why I am in love with Helen Mirren, Reason #13,849:

When 10-year-old Oliver Burton declared that his dying wish was to have afternoon tea with the Queen of England, he never received an invitation to Buckingham Palace.

Luckily, Dame Helen Mirren, who is playing the Queen in The Audience in London’s West End, stepped up to meet Oliver, who has Down’s syndrome and is also battling terminal spine and bone marrow cancer.

Mirren invited Oliver and his family to the Gielgud Theatre to see the show, and then after she met the young man while still in her Queen drag. She sat and had tea and cakes with the boy — “royal” footman served the tea — and then Oliver met Mirren’s corgis. Finally, Helen Mirren knighted Oliver, giving him the title of Sir.
“She stayed in character for the whole thing. Oliver thought she was the real Queen, and well, that’s good enough for us.” — James Browne, Oliver’s father
I didn’t need another reason to love Mirren but I’ll take this one.
The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus was at the center of a disturbing incident at Petco Park last week when, as they were preparing to sing the national anthem, their singing was replaced by a recording of a woman — reportedly the anthem singer from the night before. No one stopped the recording and when the chorus was led off the field afterward they were taunted with homophobic slurs … “you sing like a girl” … from fans.

Afterward, the chorus wanted answers, specifically about whether it was discriminatory or a hate crime. The Padres' investigation concluded it was a mistake, that DJ ArtForm hit the wrong button and played an old recording, but he was fired anyway:
“Based both on the unintentional mistake that was made, as well as the failure to immediately intervene and correct the situation by those who had oversight, we have terminated our relationship with the third-party contractor who was responsible for the error, and taken disciplinary action against our employee who was responsible for the game production on Saturday.
We once again sincerely apologize to members of the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus, their families and those who came out to support their pride night performance. The Padres organization is proud of our longstanding commitment to inclusion – within both our sport and our community.
We deeply regret that a mistake on our part has called this into question, but accept full responsibility.”
But now, the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus has announced that it wants the Padres to rehire the DJ — DJ ArtForm — who had been fired for his role in the anthem mess:
"We applaud the San Diego Padres organization … for its ongoing efforts to make something good come out of unfortunate recent events. We have met with Mr. Dee and he has agreed to meet with and work closely with the LGBT community to bring our communities together with constructive, positive change.
"We also would like to publicly accept the sincere apology of DJ ARTFORM and recognize his support for the LGBT community and equality for all people. We do not wish to see him lose his job with the San Diego Padres and kindly ask the Padres to reinstate him. Everyone deserves a second chance."
And DJ ArtForm has also spoken out, and taken ownership for the mistake, and apologized, adding it was just a mistake and nothing discriminatory against gays:
“I believe we all deserve a second chance."
Here’s hoping the mistake doesn’t ruin jobs and relationships for all involved.

I Didn't Say It ...

President Barack Obama, on US gun laws being insane and defending America:

“That’s how we can send a message to all those who would try to hurt us. We will uphold our values — a free and open society. We are strong. And we are resilient. And we will not be terrorized. [But] right now, people on the No-Fly list can walk into a store and buy a gun. That is insane. If you’re too dangerous to board a plane, you’re too dangerous, by definition, to buy a gun.”

Common sense from a common sense man.
Too bad he’s followed by this …
_____, on how he was acting in the Islamic community’s best interest with his Muslim ban

“I have many friends who are Muslims. They’re phenomenal people. They are so happy at what I’m doing. I’m doing good for the Muslims…Many Muslim friends of mine are in agreement with me. They say, ‘Donald, you brought something up to the fore that is so brilliant and so fantastic.'”

Yup, spreading fear and igniting hate is ‘brilliant and fantastic.’
And, Mr. [t]Rump, you’re a bigot, because anyone who says the things you say and then follows it with, ‘Some of my best friends are fill in the blank.” is a bigot.
Lindsey Graham, on [t]Rump’s call for the ban:

“You know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell.”

Why, Miss Lindsey! I’m getting’ the vapors with you acting so tough like, and not just pandering to the fear as most GOP candidates do .. and you have done in the past.
Ben Carson, on being against transgender service members and reinstating “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”:

"I do not appreciate using our military as a laboratory for social experimentation. You know, we have too many important things to do. When our men and women are out there fighting the enemy, the last thing that we need to be doing is saying ‘what would it be like if we introduced several transgender people into this platoon?’ You know, give me a break, deal with the transgender thing somewhere else. I like the old ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ philosophy. I mean why do you have to go around flouting your sexuality, it’s not necessary, you don’t need to talk about that, we need to talk about how we eliminate the enemy. That’s how a Carson administration would handle that.”

Luckily there will never ever be a Carson administration, though I imagine that someone should be administering meds to “Doctor” Carson.
Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner, who used to be a [t]Rump supporter, now saying Donald has “kinda gone off”:

“There’s nothing really at stake. This is all just chit-chat. He’s just warming up the audience. He’s like the guy who’s going into a bar and he’ll say whatever it’ll take to get laid, only in this case he’s not trying to f— some girl. He’s trying to f— the country.”

And we cannot let that happen.

I Didn't Say It ...

Joe Biden, on ENDA:

"My grandkids, my children, and their kids are going to be shocked, it shocks the conscious that this very moment in American history, in some states, an employer can fire you just because of who you are, or who you love.  It’s close to barbaric.  I mean think about this, a man, no I really mean this.  Imagine, imagine, 20 years from now, as America look back and say how in the hell could that have ever been allowed?   The country’s moved on.  The American people have moved on, it’s time for the Congress to move on, and pass ENDA.  Pass ENDA now.  Not tomorrow, now!"

Seriously, we look so behind the times on this.
Shouldn’t you have a job, and be able to keep a job, based on your job performance and not what you are, color, gender, orientation, age etc?
Franklin Graham, son of anti-gay preacher Billy Graham, on Russia's anti-gay laws:

"Putin is right on (gay) issues... he has taken a stand to protect his nation’s children from the damaging effects of any gay and lesbian agenda. ... Isn’t it sad, though, that America’s own morality has fallen so far that on this issue – protecting children from any homosexual agenda or propaganda – Russia’s standard is higher than our own? ... It's obvious that President Obama and his administration are pushing the gay-lesbian agenda in America today and have sold themselves completely to that which is contrary to God's teaching... Our president and his attorney general have turned their backs on God and His standards, and many in the Congress are following the administration's lead. This is shameful."

Franklin? You douche. Sure it’s easy to talk about the damage of the so-called Gay Agenda — which, by the way, is a one-word agenda: equality — and yet you don’t cite a single example of how gay folks harm children.
Is that because there are no examples? Cuz, if there were, you’d be runnin’ off at the piehole still.
Jack Conway, Kentucky Attorney General, on his refusal to defend the state against a marriage equality lawsuit:

"I felt like that from a fiscal responsibility standpoint, I didn't need to be wasting taxpayer resources in a lawsuit that we weren't going to win or in an appeal that we weren't going to win. For the sake of my daughter's view on my public service in the future, I wanted to be on the right side of history."

Sad that Kentucky’s governor has no problem spending taxpayer money of the defense, which will only be overturned by the Supreme Court … if it ever gets that far.
On a sidenote: he's kind of adorable.
Rick Santorum, on Arizona's "religious freedom" bill and how he would have signed it had he been governor — not realizing he'll never be governor of anything:

"The trunk upon which all other branches of rights flow from is freedom of conscience. If you don't have freedom of conscience, then freedom of speech doesn't mean very much, freedom of assembly doesn't mean anything because you can't speak or do what you believe is right. And what we're seeing is the government increasingly encroaching upon this very sacrosanct area of our Constitution and using all sorts of excuses to suppress people's rights."

Try as I might I cannot find the Freedom of Conscience passage in the Bill of Rights.
But then it’s no surprise, because this is Frothy Mix, who never met a lie he didn’t want to spread.
Anna Wintouron the Kimye cover:

“Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it. I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?) As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.”

Methinks Anna doth protest too much.
First off, they are not cultural icons; one is a delusional rapper with a god complex, and the other is the former star of a homemade sex tape.
This is about money, and even Anna Wintour knows it, and that’s probably why she didn’t have Kim Kardastrophe on by herself because that wouldn’t sell.
Theo James, co-star of Divergent, on if he thinks we'll ever see an LGBT action star in the near future:

"It’s very hard to tell because today there are great shows like Looking, poignant pieces of work that revolve around a central cast of characters that happen to be gay. But I remember when Queer as Folk came out and thinking, “Things are changing. Maybe there will be more [shows like this].” And then suddenly there was a drought. Hopefully the day [we have a gay action hero] isn’t far away."

And if we do, could I suggest that maybe we have a gay couple as superheroes, like, um, Hugh Jackman and Theo James?
I’d line up now for that one.
Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner and Athlete Ally board member, on the possibility of other gay NBA athletes:

“We already know there’s more gay players in the league. Whether they come out or not is irrelevant. It’s just personal preference. There’s no reason to ever, ever discuss anybody’s sexuality because that’s their private business and there’s no reason to start now.”

Here's the deal: when straight folks stop telling me about their sexuality—as they do every single time they say, This is my girlfriend/boyfriend, This is my wife/husband—then maybe gay folks won’t have to come out because it won’t be a big deal, it’ll just be.
I mean, does Cuban suggest that straight men should stop saying things like, I'm dating this great girl. She's fantastic, just so he won’t have to hear an openly gay guy say, I dating this great guy. He's fantastic.
He certainly isn't suggesting straight folks keep their sexual orientation private because they've never done so and never had to. I don't wanna go back to the closeted days, when a closeted gay guy has to say, I'm dating someone, it's great.
That doesn't work.
