Bobservations

I always like those stories people tell as if it’s the god’s honest truth and then find out they were wrong.

Case in point: in college I was bartending in Sacramento and the girl bartending with me was telling the story of her husband, who worked at a lumber mill in Jackson the day a band saw blade slipped loose and flew at another man’s head.

I said, “Did it decapitate him?”

And she replied, “Nope. Took his head right off.”

As the laughter died down, and it took a while, she said she thought decapitate was from the waist up.

On honey, no … no.

Cut to this week and Carlos and I are discussing Adam and Eve and men and women and the stories people have told.

I said, “Like the idea that Eve was made from Adam’s rib and so men have one less rib.”

He said, “That’s true. Men have one less rib than women which is where the story came from.”

I couldn’t reach my cartoon frying pan and so he went on … he talked ancient times and necropsies—which are autopsies done on animals, which confused me further—while I argued that it cannot be true, and Carlos argued that it was.

An hour later he slunk back into the kitchen to tell me he was wr … he was mista … he misspo …

I smiled and said, “How could you believe that?”

“I don’t know.”

And now I am rethinking everything he’s ever said to me.

This is about art and a cat as art from August 2011 after I’d finished painting the living room:

Finally getting some of the art back on the walls.

The photo--click to really emBIGGERate--is of a window shade that I found at a winery in Amador County, California. The desk is Carlos' from eons past, while the Bible is mine--yes, mine--and is an old family Bible. The statue on the right is called Twisted Kitty and is made of wrought iron. i found her in a furniture store in the Mission District of San Francisco.

This is one of the many pieces of Asian-inspired art we have in the house; there's something about these things that Carlos and I both love. It sits high on the wall in the sunroom, and you can only see it when you enter the room and turn around, so it's kind of a pleasant surprise.

My mother used to do something called Tole painting, which is a type of folk art. She learned to do this from her sister, and my mom spent years painting anything and everything. This is one of the few wall-art pieces of hers that I have and it sits in the kitchen where I can see it, and smile, every day.

And, of course, this is an example of living art, at least until February 2023. The most beautiful cat in the world, Tuxedo.

In South Los Angeles construction has begun a mixed-use development that will combine low-income housing and a new Costco store.

The project calls for the construction of a six-story building that will feature 800 apartments on its upper levels and a Costco on the ground floor; five levels of underground parking would be included in the apartment complex.

Approvals granted by the City of Los Angeles will require 184 of the new apartments to be rented as low-income housing, while the remaining units are to be made available to renters with Section 8 vouchers, including families and seniors in the surrounding community.

Part of the costs for the apartments, rent, etc. will be taken up by taxes on CostCo revenues at that particular store.

Good on Costco for taking part in helping low-income families afford housing.

I told Carlos I was looking for one of those lap desks you can use sitting in a chair, to hold a book while you read and use your laptop. And he was sweet enough to find this one for men.

I may put the cartoon frying pan away.

Apparently Bill and Hillary Clinton have defaulted on paying for their daughter Chelsea’s wedding back in 2014. It seems President Obama allowed the Clinton’s use of the Rose Garden for Chelsea’s big day and the event cost taxpayers $1.7 million that the Clinton’s never paid.

That sickens me until you learn that  … Chelsea Clinton didn’t get married in 2014, but in 2010; and she didn’t get married in the Rose Garden, but in Rhinebeck, New York; and no taxpayer funds offered up by President Obama paid for any part of the wedding.

I guess when you’re supporting the current grifter in the White House you have to lie about other former presidents to take the heat off your Mob Boss In Chief.

This week Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced that the police shooting of Kohen Wiley “was justified” but let’s back up for the whole story:

On June 14, 2026, police officers in Senatobia, Mississippi responded to a shoplifting call that Vellesiya Wiley and her friend Latoya Ferrell had stolen a pack of diapers from Walmart. Neither woman has been charged with a crime, police officials have not released any evidence of shoplifting and Walmart hasn’t pressed charges.

But, according to police reports of the shooting, Vellesiya, Latoya and one-year-old Kohen Wiley were leaving the parking lot when officers arrived. The police drew their weapons and Wiley lifted Kohen up to indicate that there was a child in the car and then Sgt Hunter Foster fired into the vehicle and killed Kohen Wiley and wounding Ferrell.

And the state’s Attorney General Lynn Fitch says the shooting of a one-year-old baby was justified.

Justified.

Bobservations

Carlos couldn’t bear to part with the old tiles from the kitchen countertops and tried to find a way to use them; most of his ideas involved gluing them to parts of the house and I put the kibosh on those. But then he got together with our contractor, Craig, and came up with trivets to use for hot pots and pans on the new countertops.

Keeping the old with the new is a fabulous idea.

This Tale of Tuxedo is from March 2011 … and is entitled “Consuelo Roca Jones: #11 of 1500” because I was going to post 1500 pictures of her; a goal I have yet to reach I believe. Anyway …

When we adopted Miss Jones, they gave us a small bag of cat food, and this toy. It has a ball that runs through a channel, and lights up as it does so, with a scratch pad in the center. Little Miss Jones loves to bat the ball around and watch it light up.

We also bought another scratching tool for all the cats, but Tuxedo has taken to it most of all. He loves to sit in it, play under, lay atop it, but, most of all, guard it from the other cats.

That's my boy!

Never let it be forgotten that DUI hire Pete Hegseth once spent $6.9 million on lobster, $15.1 million on ribeye steak, $2 million on Alaskan king crab, $1 million on salmon, $124,000 on ice cream machines, and $139,000 on doughnuts during a September 2025 end-of-year spending surge.

And now there’s sailors not being fed, given no toiletries and living in filth on the USS Abraham Lincoln.

I didn’t think I’d have to say it again, but this is why you don’t put drunken sexual predators in positions of power. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Hakeem Jeffries says he doesn't support Medicare for all in the richest nation on Earth.

I no longer support Hakeem Jeffries who, as a member of Congress pays next to nothing for his healthcare.

Now, to cleanse my palate from both Hegseth and Jeffries here’s this:

Mackenzie Scott, the ex-missus Jeff Bezos, has just donated $70 million to Meals on Wheels as elderly people face a four-month wait list.

Her ex-husband, meanwhile, wants you to tip Amazon drivers working in the heat of summer while he pockets somewhere between $40 million and $8o million a day.

Just more proof that in this chaos it’s the women doing the right things.

ICEstapo officers may soon be outfitted with gloves that can deliver painful electric shocks intended to gain compliance from combative individuals.

But remember this one thing: spraying electric shock gloves with water can cause them to malfunction. Oops.

Bobservations

Carlos grew up in a fairly well-to-do family; there was a maid and a housekeeper and a nanny for Little Carlos. But the way he refuses to throw anything out makes me feel like he grew up in tenement slum.

He will not get a new bar of soap for the bathtub until the current bar is so thin it looks like tissue paper. And then the other day I asked if we had any leftover chicken to make a sandwich at lunch; he told me No but said there was plenty of guacamole left from the previous night’s dinner if I wanted it.

Imagine my surprise at finding “plenty” of guacamole in the fridge. I smeared it on a single Cheez-It  and gobbled it up in a single bite.

Then I reached for the cartoon frying pan …

This is Dogs V Cats from March 2020 …

Excerpts from Tuxedo's diary:
Day 983 of my captivity...
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.

In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow ... from the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released--and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously an idiot.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.

For now...

Tonea Nicole Miller, a 27-year-old Black woman originally from Flint, Michigan, was found dead, hanging from a tree in Gwen Cherry Park in Gladeview, Florida last month.

Authorities from the Miami-Dade Police Department initially labeled her death as a suicide involving no immediate signs of foul play while few media outlets reported on the incident ALLEGEDLY because it was classified as a suicide. Her family and community members are strongly rejecting the suicide ruling and would like her death fully investigated.

The timing of her death, occurring right around the Juneteenth holiday weekend, combined with the history of racial violence in the United States, has triggered immense pain, distrust, and public skepticism. Tonea's loved ones are demanding full autopsy results, and push for a thorough, transparent independent investigation.

Meanwhile, Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, who was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, 2026, is still in the news regularly.

Sounds about white.

It has been so hot and sticky around here, and not in the good way, that even the Hot Cakes are too darn hot!

After a few asshatted and blatantly racist rulings, this week SCOTUS rejected Cankles’ efforts to overturn the sexual assault AND defamation charges against him in relation to E Jean Carroll. He is still  legally a rapist.

And then … SCOTUS upheld birthright citizenship, affirming all persons born in America are U.S. citizens at birth.

But then … SCOTUS also ruled 6-3 that states can ban transgender girls and women from female sports teams.

Justice Brett “Drunken Rapist” Kavanaugh wrote the majority opinion stating that Title IX allows schools to decide sports eligibility based on biological sex.

Fuck the court.

Dear Texas … when asked about the US affordability crisis one of your Representatives, Troy Nehls, told a reporter that he will be eating lobster tails and rib-eye steaks this Fourth of July. And when asked about struggling Americans being unable to afford such a meal, Nehls said:

"Maybe the 60% of Americans don't work as hard as I do.”

In 2025, Nehls worked in Congress for 151 legislative days; in 2026, that number will be even lower. And don’t forget Nehls earned a base salary of $174,000 per year for working half the year but he works harder than you and gets full healthcare for free.

Do better Texas.

Vice Admiral Nancy Lacore May Get The Last Laugh

Vice Admiral Nancy Lacore was in the Navy for thirty-five years, starting in the cockpit and finishing with three stars and command of the entire Navy Reserve of some 59,000 sailors and Marines; she has thirteen hundred flight hours under her belt, and command of the US base in Djibouti, and dozens of medals.

Last August, DUI Hire Pete Hegseth removed her, with no hearing, no charges, no reason on the record; a firing without cause. Lacore lost her job the same afternoon Hegseth fired the intelligence chief whose agency had just concluded that the strikes on Iran set the nuclear program back by months, not the total obliteration the president kept selling . The people closest to that inconvenient truth were swept out en masse. Competence no longer mattered, only loyalty and maintaining the lies put forth by Hegseth and an inept and incompetent regime.

Lacore could have taken the pension and the silence but instead she chose to run for Congress in the South Carolina seat Nancy Mace walked away from to chase the governor's mansion—and lose it. Last week Nancy Lacore won the Democratic nomination in a runoff, outright, and for the first time in forty years her district might be sending a Democrat to DC if she wins in November.

Hegseth once stood in front of a room of generals and told them that if they did not align with his vision and his story, they should do the honorable thing and resign. Lacore refused to resign and forced Hegseth to fire her …

And now Hegseth may spend next year answering to a Congress with her vote in it, her name on the door, inside the building she spent a lifetime defending. He wanted her out of his chain of command but his actions handed her the seat above it.

Bobservations

So this is about the Absentminded Professor Carlos AKA The Chocoholic and how he makes me laugh.

See, the other night he asked if I wanted some hot chocolate and I said sure. So he sets about making it but then calls me to the kitchen because he says we’re out of chocolate. I say we can’t be out because there’s an unopened box in the cupboard and another box with a little bit of chocolate left inside.

“I only have the one with very little chocolate.”

“Well, the full box was under the open box the other day.”

“All I have is the open box.”

So I go into the kitchen and look up on the shelf where the cocoa powder goes and there’s none there. And then Carlos holds up the open box and says:

“This is all we have.”

“Yesterday there was an unopened box and an open box on that same shelf. Are you sure you didn’t use–”

And my eyes drop down to the counter where a pristine unopened box of cocoa powder sits, waiting to be used in hot chocolate and I point it out to him.

“You’re gonna write about this on your blog, right?”

“No, sweetie pie, I would never—”

Let’s keep this our secret.

From December 2009, this is Tuxedo Sunday, with that handsome boy posing on the bed in the guestroom.

He did love a camera pointed his way …

As we start Pride Month here are a few reminders before anyone rants …

Veterans and members of the Military get two months … May and November.

Straight Pride isn’t a thing because straight people were never oppressed, refused legal rights, or murdered for being straight.

Trans men are men, and trans women are women.

Your religion is meant to guide you, not everyone else.

No one is forcing you to attend Pride events; it’s not a hostage situation so if you don’t want to go, don’t go. Just mind your own business.

Carry on …

Minneapolis law enforcement authorities, along with the Texas Rangers, apprehended ICEstapo agent Christian Castro last week and arrested him for shooting an INNOCENT Venezuelan immigrant in Minneapolis in January.

As ICEstapo agents do, Castro lied about the shooting then fled Minnesota for Texas. He now faces four felony charges of aggravated assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime.

I hope they lock him up in one of their detention centers for life and I hope they get him on state charges so Cankles cannot pardon him or pay him off from the slush fund.

Former Oklahoma Republican Assistant District Attorney Kevin Etherington, who served Payne and Logan counties, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for child pornography charges.

Court documents state investigators seized three SD cards, three flash drives and a laptop from Etherington’s home with over 153 photos and videos of girls under 9 years old being abused in a Google Drive that belonged to Etherington.

NOT TRANSGENDER!!

NOT A DRAG QUEEN!!

NOT AN IMMIGRANT!!

The DC Circuit Court of Appeals dealt Cankles and DUI-hire Hegseth a defeat on the first day of Pride Month when they ruled that kicking out trans troops is unconstitutional and driven only by fear and hatred.

Happy Pride!!

Meanwhile, while many of us celebrate Pride, in Arkansas where it’s still the 1950s Governor Sarah Huckleberry Sanders has declared June to be “Fidelity Month” in her state, a time to “encourage renewed dedication to virtue, commitment, responsibility and shared moral foundations.”

This is rich coming from a former Cankles Press Secretary who propped up an adjudicated rapist, sexual predator, and accused child molester with three marriages and countless affairs in his lifetime.

You cannot make this shiz up.

Award-winning broadcaster Scott Pelley spent nearly four decades at CBS News, reported from war zones, covered presidents, anchored the network’s evening newscast, and became one of the defining faces of 60 Minutes.

CBS News terminated Pelley this week after he publicly accused Bari Weiss, the network’s editor-in-chief, of "murdering" 60 Minutes and questioned the qualifications of newly installed executive producer Nick Bilton.

Bye CBS.
