She May Not Be Miss America, But Miss Mississippi Rocks

I don’ watch beauty pageants; I am not that gay, and by that I mean I am not that kind of gay. But if I did watch them, I might be cheering Hannah Roberts, Miss Mississippi, this morning.

See, Roberts, a biochemistry graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi, set fire to social media the other night when, during the Q&A, she was asked this question:
“Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis was jailed for defying the Supreme Court’s order to issue same-sex marriage licenses. She claims the order violates her religious freedom. Does it?”
Roberts was given twenty seconds to answer but said her piece with time to spare:
“It absolutely does not violate her religious freedom. That is her job that she was voted into doing, and that law is a federal law throughout the rest of the country. So, yes, she did violate the law there. Thank you.”
No, Hannah Roberts, thank you.

Can I Get An Amen: Roselyn Sanchez and Cristián De La Fuente To Thing 45: "We quit!"

So, when announcing his run to be president, _____ had a full racist rant about Mexicans coming to, ahem “our” country, and how they were all thieves and rapists and drug dealers, though “some of them” were good.

Yeah, that’s so presidential. Anyway, on the heels of those remarks, Univision, the biggest Spanish-language broadcaster in the United States, has canceled its telecast of the Miss USA pageant because of _____’s part-ownership in the organization.

_____ then fired back, in another display of pettiness, childishness, and bad toupee management, when he said that no Univision employees would be welcome at any of his hotels. Yeah, he’s that spoiled little brat.

Now, though, he’s gotten another smack, this time from Puerto Rican singer-actress Roselyn Sanchez and Chilean actor Cristián de la Fuente who had been scheduled to co-host the Spanish simulcast of the pageant, but have now opted out.

Roselyn Sanchez, star of Lifetime’s Devious Maids, posted a statement on Facebook explain her decision:
"As a Latina, proud of my roots, culture and all that we have contributed to this nation, I decided to cancel my participation as co-host the Miss USA pageant [and] not tolerate the so disrespectful and hurtful words out of the mouth of Mr. Trump.
It seems incredible that in his speech to announce his candidacy, he has had that lapse of intelligence and decency. Mexicans, like all Latinos, contribute positively to this great nation. We are the force that keeps the country afloat.
I was very excited and proud to have been invited to participate in Miss USA, but as a Latina, that is now inconceivable. Although I am not Mexican, I am Puerto Rican and a proud Latina, and his comments were an insult to our culture. I won't sponsor anything produced by Donald Trump."
Cristián de la Fuente, also appearing on Devious Maids, also used social media to explain his decision for pulling out of the pageant:
"It is unacceptable to launch a presidential candidacy created on a rhetoric of hatred and discrimination in calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapists. It is a shame that such an important institution as Miss USA is in the hands of a clown."
Meanwhile, NBC, set to broadcast next month, distanced themselves from _____’s racism, saying that his opinions do not represent those of NBC.

Here’s the queer deal: if you watch beauty pageants, maybe skip this one, huh? Why line the pockets of a racist presidential candidate? Send a message to _____ that he does not represent America or Americans and that we are tired of his divisive brand of rhetoric.

Look … just don’t watch. It’s that simple.

Miss unAmerica? Really?

I am no beauty pageant queen; queen, yes; into beauty pageants, no. Unless, and here’s where I go all shallow and hypocritical-like, it was a male beauty pageant. That’s a horse of a different color, you know.

So, not being into beauty pageants—and not even the scholarship contest they pretend to be these days though what winning a scholarship has to do with evening gowns and bikinis, I do not know—I didn’t watch the Miss America pageant last weekend.

But I did hear the news the next morning that Miss New York, Nina Davuluri won, and became the first women of Indian descent to win the tile, and I thought that was a cool thing. I mean, Miss America is usually blond and has big teeth and comes from one of those square states in the middle, so this was kinda cool.

Until the asshats and the racists took to — what else? — Twitter to spew their particular brand of ignorance mixed with stupidity topped with racism and served with a side of xenophobia.

Upon receiving her title and a crown and flowers because that screams scholarship, Davuluri, who is studying to be a doctor, said:
“Everything happens for a reason. If it’s meant to be it’s meant to be. It’s a win-win just to be in it.”
And maybe that’s true; maybe it happened because we needed a dose of diversity training in this country, if what some folks felt about her win is any indication of where some of our heads are located. See, not all Americans are happy with the win, and some of those who were unhappy, took to social media to whine and complain, like an asshat by the name of Luke Brasili:

I guess he's saying that because she’s a dark-skinned woman of Indian descent—who, by the way was born in Syracuse, a city in one of the fifty states which Little Luke failed to realize—that she had something to do with 9/11. Or that it’s a dishonor to those who died twelve years ago to have an Indian-American wear a crown.

Aly Walansky, another moron with too much time on her hands and access to media, tweeted this:

I guess you’re only American if you come from Kansas, so screw off you other 49 states, you don’t belong here.

Toss into the mix one Todd Starnes, a Fox Radio host—wow, color me shocked—who thinks that:

I guess had Davuluri shot a deer onstage with her own gun, that would make her more American.

Then we have someone who calls themselves Adam of Eve, who Tweeted his blatant racism proudly:

Um, Adam of Eve? You delusional tool? The Miss America pageant has nothing to do with India, and, frankly, neither does Davuluri; just like I don’t qualify to represent Germany or Ireland because that’s my heritage. If you wanted a true, full on American to represent this country, then maybe we should close the competition to anyone who isn’t Native American, the only really true Americans here, since everyone else, including you, comes from somewhere else.

But, not all the Tweeters are ignorant morons; some of them had some fun with it, and so, let’s share a couple of those from Grand Old Parody and Questlove Jenkins:

See, that’s the issue. Nina Davuluri is an American born in America to parents who came here from India. She is not un-American because of her skin color or her name or her ethnicity and heritage.

For me, she’s more American than those morns with Twitter accounts.

What This South Carolina? A Lesbian In A Beauty Pageant?

For some gay men, beauty pageants are a special thing; the pageantry, the gowns, the drag queeniness of some of the contestants. Me? Not so much. Give me a good awards show and someone drunk on a Red Carpet and I’m in; but, that may change since I heard this story.

The Miss South Carolina Pageant is next week, with the gowns and the glitter and the gaffes during the question and answer portion of the show—Caite Upton, anyone? See HERE—but this year there is a special contestant like we’ve never seen before in the Palmetto State. For the first time in history, the pageant has an openly gay contestant; and she’s multi-racial.

Her name is Analouisa Valencia and many are calling her the new face of the south.

:::fingers crossed:::

The South could use a new face; just sayin'.

And while this is the second time Analouisa has competed, this is the first year she's competing as an out lesbian.
"Last year, I did compete at state, but I wasn't as comfortable because of the fact I was hiding who I was. This is my first year coming out and saying, 'This is me, girls. Sorry, I'm going to be changing in the same dressing room as you. This is what's going to happen.'"— Analouisa Valencia
But, while it might seem having an openly gay contestant is a first for South Carolina, she is also the first bilingual contestant in pageant history.

Seriously? 2013? And she’s the first bilingual contestant? Oh yeah, South Carolina.

And, with three titles already under her belt, Valencia's family says her success represents the changing face of the south, though it’s a change which finds many folks unprepared as they focus on her sexual orientation and her ethnicity. But Valencia says it’s her passion for coaching Special Olympic athletes that she wants judges to remember. She doesn’t want to be The Gay Contestant, or The Multi-Ethnic Contestant, she wants to be Analouisa, and, hopefully, that’s how people will see her.

And this particular gay might just find himself sitting in front of a TV next week, rooting on one particular pageant gal.

Good luck, Analouisa.

And, if you win, and collect the $25,000 scholarship, there's also a Coming Out Toaster Oven, and copy of The Gay Agenda for you.

It’s a win-win, though, any way you look at it.

Random Musings

My father really knows his weather. I think he should go on TV as the Psychic Weatherman.
Last Sunday was a gorgeous day In Smallville. So, gorgeous, in fact, that Carlos and I spent a great deal of time working around the yard. Weeds were pulled, plants were moved, hedges were trimmed. But it was gorgeous out; slight breeze, maybe 80-degrees.
Then, as we sat in the living room later that night, my father called because he'd heard we'd had bad, stormy weather on the weekend. I said Nope. Quite the opposite, in fact.
That night, all hell broke loose. Storms, rain, lightning, thunder. And it carried on for two days.
I think I’ll be asking my dad for a weather report from now on.

So, Adele was on NBC last Sunday. Little snippets of an interview and footage from her concert at Royal Albert Hall--which was fabulous. I have the DVD but I cannot not watch and listen to Adele.
When it was over, while waiting for The Big C to come on, I was channel surfing and came upon the MTV Movie Awards. I lasted about three minutes into Russell Brand's monologue.
He is, seriously, the least funny person I think I've ever seen. How he has a career boggles my mind.
And it isn't about British humor--I love British humor--it's simply about not being funny.
And I will not stand for that!

So, North Carolina has been all kinds of crazy lately--and Carlos and I will be headed up there at the end of the month, so I'm kinda scurred--but nothing about churches and The Gays and the Constitution and The Gays beats this story.
A North Carolina woman has been charged by police with castrating a man.
With.Her.Bare.Hands.
Excuse me a sec.
Ow! Ow! Ow!
Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
Ow! Ow!
Ow!
Police charged Joyce Maxine Gregory, 35, with malicious castration and assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
Excuse me a sec. "Malicious castration"? I, as a member of the male persuasion, think all castration is malicious.
Anyhow, police say that Joyce was arguing with a 59-year-old man and she got so mad that she squeezed the man's testicles out of his scrotum.
Hang on again.
Ow! Ow! Ow!
Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
Ow! Ow!
Ow!
Doctors said the man's injuries could be repaired with stitches but still.
That Joyce is quite something, eh? And, to prove that, after being handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a police car, Joyce took off her pants and urinated in the police car.
And folks in North Carolina wanna put me behind a fence?

I don't like beauty pageants; I may be one of the few gays that don’t. They've never interested me except after the fact, like when Carrie Prejean got all anti-gay and shiz.
Well, now there's Miss Pennsylvania, Sheena Monnin, and apparently she is so royally pissed off that she has decided to leave the organization.
Sheena gave up her state crown because the Miss USA pageant was fixed, she says, but organizers say she gave them a different story in an e-mail she sent to them this week.
Let's start with the now: on Facebook she said, "I will relay to you the reasoning behind my resignation. I witnessed another contestant who said she saw the list of the Top 5 BEFORE THE SHOW EVER STARTED proceed to call out in order who the Top 5 were before they were announced on stage."
But Sheena didn't leave when she ALLEGEDLY saw the list. No, she stayed and smiled and strutted around in her bikini, and only when she lost did she bring up the list.
However, and I love a good however, now the story is that she left the pageant because she had an issue with transgender contestant, Jenna Talackova, being allowed to compete.
The Miss Universe pageant released her first e-mail to them, saying the organization had strayed by allowing transgender participants in the pageant: "I am officially and irrevocably resigning the title of Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012. I refuse to be part of a pageant system that has so far and so completely removed itself from its foundational principles as to allow and support natural born males to compete in it. This goes against ever moral fiber of my being. I believe in integrity, high moral character, and fair play, none of which are part of this system any longer. I hereby return the title of Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012."
I think she's really Miss North Carolina, eh?
Or, at least she should be.

Okay, and more new from here in South Carolina.
The story goes that at a high school graduation in Florence, the principal announced at the beginning of the ceremony that the senior class had requested the crowds remain silent during the reading of the names so all names could be heard.
Sounds fair, right? And the announcement went on to say that those people who shouted out would be asked to leave.
Sounds fair, right.
Well, one woman screamed and shrieked and hollered as her child’s name was announced and she was asked to leave.
In fact, she was arrested.
Now, I think she was arrested because, after being asked to leave, she refused, and security was called, the police were called, and she was then arrested for disturbing the peace.
Carlos and I had a discussion over this because he thinks it's insane.
I, however, think it goes like this: you were told to be quiet or you’d be asked to leave. You weren't quiet, and so you were asked to exit. You didn't and the police were called.
Extreme? Yeah, maybe. But all the commotion this woman caused, took away from the graduates, and the parents of those graduates who couldn't hear their own child's name being called because this woman couldn't keep her lips zipped.
Seriously. Be quiet.
It isn't all about you.

I follow boxing almost as much as I follow beauty pageants, so I don't know this guy, but he makes me wonder about the dangers of the sport.
Boxer Manny Pacquiao, who just last month caused a ruckus by coming out against marriage equality, talked with USA Today about his upcoming bout with Floyd Mayweather and, of course, as happens when boxers are interviewed, the subject of The Gays and marriage.
Pacquiao said, again, that he’s against marriage equality and thinks gay people are committing a sin: “No, I don’t support gay marriage. I do not agree with that, but I am not condemning gay people. But what I oppose is the sin they commit.”
This from a man who takes punches to the head?
Gimme a break.

Random Musings

The Drag Race.
Latrice. Royale.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Sharon Needles better win--even though I read the spoiler at DD's and nearly tossed my cookies.

I love celebrities who act like they don't know a camera is trained on them when they're doing idiotic things. Like when Paris, Lindsay and Britney all flashed their ladybits, getting out of cars all spread-eagled and stuff. And
the newest member of that select group of morons is former ladyboy turned steroid man Zac Efron.
It all began when he "accidentally" dropped a condom on the red carpet and acted like he didn't know anything about it. I won't take the time to show it to you, but take a moment, Google it, and see for yourself how he rummages in his pocket just before the "accident".
And suddenly he's all in the news.
Zac has a new movie out and while he was in Australia promoting this destined for the DVD bottom shelf, he began parading around the balcony of his hotel in various stages of undress.
First he was wearing his baggy jeans so his ass--while underwear-clad--was hanging out. And, just for good measure, he began readjusting his junk.
Then he appeared on the same balcony in his little boxer briefs because he didn't know were watching. Uh huh.
Lastly, he took off the drawers, and then reappeared wearing just a towel, and then let the towel slip so he could show off his precious little boy ass.
Paris, Lindsay and Britney would be so pleased that someone has added their names to the Whore Yourself Out For Any Reason At All Club.
If you'd like to see Zac promoting his Little Zac and his ZacAss go HERE.

Paul Iacono, the 23-year-old actor best known for starring in an MTV show I've never seen or heard about, The Hard Times of RJ Berger, has come out.
He is best remembered for playing a teen with a big member.
And now he's out.
So, Homo HQ will be sending the requisite Coming Out Toaster Oven and copy of the Gay Agenda.
Welcome out, Paul.
Welcome out.

Madonna is all about 1st's and breaking records and stuff.
Well, she's really all about whorish self-promotion, but her way sounds nicer.
Still, I don't think even Madonna will be trumpeting her latest feat.
After a promising start, topping the Billboard 200 chart in its first week with 359,000 copies sold, Madonna's MDNA suffered an 88% drop in sales to 46,000.
That sets the record for biggest second week drop in history.
And some folks are saying that the option for fans to buy MDNA as part of a tour ticket package actually screwed, er, skewed the initial numbers. See, 185,000 copies of MDNA were sold as part of the deal, so only 179,000 constituted individual album sales.
And, had these been the final numbers reported, MDNA wouldn't have topped the US charts in its first week at all.

So, Ricky pulled out early. And I'm not talking birth control. Newt's still in it though, and has taken up Frothy's One True Conservative posters. Poor Newt, he can't even come up with his own campaign slogans.
And then ... in Utah, five Republicans have filed the necessary papers and paid the $500 fee to qualify for the June 26th presidential primary election, but not that Frothy Mix has dropped out of the race, just four will be on the ballot.
Except ... ....
Newt's check bounced.
Utah Elections Director Mark Thomas said a designated agent for the Gingrich campaign brought the filing papers and a check for $500 in March, but the state was notified by the bank that the check had bounced. His office tried to contact the Gingrich campaign through the telephone number and email provided on the application, but they have not received a response.
So the state sent a certified letter to the campaign, stating that if the fee isn’t paid by April 20, Gingrich will be disqualified and will not be on the ballot.
Too bad he couldn't have paid the filing fee with his Tiffany's credit account.

So, we were still wading into that kerfuffle about Jenna Talackova, the transgendered contestant in the Canadian Miss Universe pageant who was rejected--then reinstated--after officials discovered that she is transgender.
Well, Great-granny Barbara Walters wasted no time getting Jenna into an interview room, and talked all about her childhood, her transition, her sexuality, how she took her name and why she decided to enter the pageant.
But then, to show the other side of the story, Walters also interviewed Donald Rump, the owner of the Miss Universe pageant to get this side of the story, and he divulged the most asshatted explanation ever.
And apparently he means it.
He said Talackova has an "ulterior motive" because the first letters of her name spell "JENNATAL".
Yes, he did.
And to think some people in this country thought this dumbfuck could have been, should have been, a presidential contender.

It sounded like a joke: a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost rent a house together.
But then I got hooked on the American version of the BBC hit, Being Human.
And the season finale was this week.
The vampire, Aiden, was put to ground.
Josh, the werewolf, had a gun pointed at his head by the wolf who made him.
And Sally, the ghost, shredded herself and got trapped in a radio,
Seriously, I cannot wait for next season.

And lastly, the season finale of Justified. I'll have to wait months before seeing more of this on my TV set.
That's all........
