My Two Cents: _____ Attacked Jews In New York

There, I said.

Look, it’s like this … way back in 2016, _____ came down an escalator to announce he was running for president, and he started off by labeling Mexicans as drug dealers, rapists and murderers, invading our borders and taking our jobs. And then, as president, he went after those other brown people, Muslims, and wanted them banned from our country.

That’s hate;  that’s racism; that’s _____. But it gets worse, because his followers, all of whom hate the same people he does, and many more people, decided to get into the business of speaking out about “others,” meaning anyone who isn’t white and straight and Christian.

And we’ve seen a rise in hate crimes since _____ took office and that is no coincidence. When you stand as the leader of a country and denounce a group of people based, really, on the country of their skin, or the shithole countries they come from, you feed hate, and violence, and murder.

But then it’s not just the brown people, is it? This weekend we saw yet another anti-Semitic attack in New York, just one of dozens in the last few weeks. And why?

Simple, when you speak hate against a brown person, hate-filled people will go after brown people; a woman in Iowa is in jail because she ran down a young girl because that girl is Mexican. But you also feed the hate of people who hate the Jewish community, and we’ve seen a rise in anti-Semitism since_____ took office; and you also feed the hate of people who despise the LGBTQ+ community, and we’ve seen a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ crime since _____ took office; when you order children to be taken from their parents and held in cages, you feed the hate. And hate knows no color or race or gender or sexual orientation or ethnicity.
Hate just hates.

See, maybe he just wanted y’all to hate brown people, from south of the border, or the Middle East—well, not the brown Middle Easterners who give him money while they behead journalists, but he wanted y’all to hate.

And so every time there’s a shooting of mostly brown people in, oh, I don’t know, let’s say El Paso; and when there’s a shooting of a synagogue in Pittsburgh, for example; and when you have white people telling black people to get out of their parks, out of their dorm rooms, out of their hotel lobbies, out of their stores, you lay it at the feet of _____.

He fed the haters while running for office and then unchained them after he was elected.

So, yes, Donald J. _____ killed those people in New York this weekend, with the words he used to start his campaign. And let’s be clear, one day the hate will be directed at you, unless you do something about it.

Bobservations

I walked into the kitchen on Monday morning where Carlos was making our Cafe con eche and watching the news, and he says …
“Meghan got knocked down.”
“Who is Meghan?”
“Princess Meghan!”
“Who knocked her down?”
“Harry. They’re having a baby.”
“I think you mean she’s knocked up.”
“Whatever.”
And so it goes. I;m Lucy and he's Ricky.
Dear Elizabeth Warren,

There never really was much of a chance I’d be thrilled to see you run for president. After you sank to _____’s level of playing mean girls on Twitter in 2016 rather than taking him on politically, I wrote you off.

And yet, here you are again, dredging up a two-year-old feud where he claimed you don’t have Native American heritage. So, you took a DNA test to prove it and you think that makes you qualified for POTUS?

Think again. Take a seat. I’m looking for someone to change the course of this country, not reignite petty feuds with a little man.
Michael Kalny, topleft, a Republican who holds the elected position of precinct committeeman in Kansas is under fire for a social media post in which he called Sharice Davids, top right, a Democrat and an openly gay Native American lawyer running to unseat Republican Kevin Yoder in Congress a "radical socialist kick boxing lesbian Indian" in a Facebook rant to Anne Pritchett, president of the Johnson County Democratic Women’s north chapter:
"Little Ms. Pritchett – you and your comrades stealth attack on Yoder is going to blow up in your leftist face. The REAL REPUBLICANS will remember what the scum DEMONRATS tried to do to Kavanaugh in November. Your radical socialist kick boxing lesbian Indian will be sent back packing to the reservation."
And the GOP demands civility from us?

Bitch, please.
Mark Taylor is called the “Firefighter Prophet” but I call him a lunatic of epic proportions. He claims, among other things, that Democrats, with the help of Barack Obama, are using weather control technology to obstruct _____’s agenda.

Yes, he did; earlier this month, Taylor claimed Hurricane Florence was created by liberals to cover up mass voter fraud in North Carolina. In June, he said liberals were planning to create hurricanes to suppress the midterm election turn out. And lest week he claimed Hurricane Michael was artificially created by “scared” anti-_____ forces in “retaliation” for Justice Penis In Your Face’s confirmation to the Supreme Court:
“Does anyone else think it’s strange that Justice K is sworn in and we have a major hurricane inbound? DS scared? They should be. Retaliation? Absolutely. We will not be intimidated! Warriors arise, time to go to work! You know what to do.”
Seriously. Can someone put him in a seventy-two hour hold and have his head examined?
We were going to buy a new car this past weekend, and after breakfast I told Carlos I’d clean out all of our personal items so we could trade it in, and he said he’d get the title and off we’d go.

I keep the car clean so there wasn’t much to take out and as I went back to the office to find Carlos, I see him sitting at the desk, papers scattered everywhere, and he says,
“Where’s the title?”
Yes. He did. So, I looked in the file he’d created for the car and, yep, no title; but there were all kinds of other papers, such as a five-year-old receipt for an oil change.

That we keep; the title? Not so much.

Needles to say, we've applied for a replacement title, that will arrive in 7 to ten, or thirty, days..
In yet another blatant lie, and in another use of fear to inspire his illiterate, gun-toting, cousin-fucking, hypocritical Bible-thumping, adultery loving, toothless brain-dead base—and sorry to say that but if they’re gonna believe his shiz, then I will call them as I see them—_____ lied about a non-existent democratic bill he claims was written by Senator Dianne Feinstein:
"Today's Democrats have embraced radical socialism and open borders. If you don't have borders, you don't have a country, folks, you don't have a country. Every single Democrat in the US Senate has signed up for the Open Borders - and it's a bill! It's called the Open Borders Bill! What's going on? And it's written by - guess who - Dianne Feinstein."
There is no bill. It’s a bald-faced lie. But, hey, stoke the fear, asshat.
That woman featured in a viral video preventing a Saint Louis man from entering his apartment building has been fired from her job.

Although her name has yet to be made public—oops, here it is … Hilary Brooke Mueller—but I call her #LobbyLinda, tried to keep D’Arreion Toles from entering his apartment building because she was, ahem, uncomfortable.

In other words, he was a black man. But Toles recorded the incident on his cellphone and posted it top social media and, quicker than you can say, Racist, shut up, the woman was fired after her bosses at the apartment building, Tribeca Luxury Apartments in St. Louis, identified the racist as an employee.

Sorry, not sorry.
The GOP, and _____, will be the first to tell you how inclusive the party is, and how the blacks just love them, but … Michael Steele, the party’s first African-American chairman was not invited to an event honoring the achievements of prominent black Republicans.

That’s all.
Oh, this is killing me … _____ saw a painting of himself having drinks with Abraham Lincoln, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Teddy Roosevelt, the Bush’s and Ronald Reagan so much that he called the artist on the phone and then put a print of it in the White House.

Seriously. “The Republican Club” by Andy Thomas was on display during Leslie Stahl’s interview with _____.

It’s funny that he’d hang it, but what’s funnier is that the artist painted him in human colors and about 100 pounds lighter than real life.

It kills me!
Dennis Haysbert. That’s pretty much all. I have always found him to be quite attractive, whether he’s playing a president on TV or selling me insurance.

Years ago, we went to see Far From Heaven because Dennis Quaid kissed a guy in the movie, and he liked it. But it was Haysbert, as the gardener whom Julianne Moore falls for, who I noticed straight away.

And that voice? Dreamy.

Random Musings

When we were at South Carolina Pride a few weeks back, Carlos found a kilt he wanted to buy. His grandfather was from England — he moved to Mexico as an adult and lived there the rest of his life — and Carlos has always been an Anglophile.

Now, his kilt isn’t plaid, it’s a dark green, but it’s very cool, and once it arrived to the house, he decided he wanted to wear it to our wedding. I had other ideas — I always do — of keeping it simple, with each of us in a nice black jacket, white shirt and nice — nice — jeans.

Carlos said, “Jeans?????”

I said, “Kilt????”

He’s wearing the kilt, and that’s fine, because it looks good on him, but I did ask that he wear a nice black jacket and white shirt. So, he showed me the white shirts he had in the closet; not one from this century, so imagine dirty dishwater white color; and there wasn’t a black jacket in sight.

So, Carlos, who hates to shop, set off in search of a black jacket, a white shirt, and some black boots to wear with his kilt. When he returned home, happy as a clam to have found the items, he gave me a little preview; nice jacket; very nice crisp white, white, shirt, and some cool black boots — rough-trade boots, if you will.

I sat in the chair and muttered, “Wow, you get a whole new outfit for the wedding and I’m wearing my old black jacket.”

“I knew it!” He shrieked, and my ears began to bleed.

“Shout it to the whole neighborhood,” I said.

Carlos walked to the living room window, threw it up, and shrieked outside, “I. KNEW. IT!!!!!”

Today I went and bought myself some new, nice, cool, jeans, a new crisp white shirt, and three pairs of new shoes, you know, because I will not be outdone at my own wedding!!
Last week the Labor Department reported that 248,000 jobs were created last month, pushing the unemployment down to a six-year low of 5.9%.

Thanks Obama.

See, Rightwingnuts? That's how “Thanks Obama” works. Say Thanks to the President for fixing the mess created by George W. Bush.

And then sit down.
So, naturally, other than my own upcoming marriage, was the news out of SCOTUS this week, which paved the way for marriages in at least five — and perhaps up to eleven — new states.

I got a huuuge kick out of some of the GOP wingnuts who called the Supreme Court a bunch of unelected judges — um, yeah, that’s how it works — and said they were activist judges.

Funny, though, had the Supreme Court ruled the other way these asshats would have been praising these non-elected activists for doing their jobs.

GOP? Take a seat; you don’t have a dog in this fight any more.
Speaking of GOP loons … Mike Huckabee.

That’s really all that need be said, but I love this Tweet, and the response from Jesus H. Christ.

Who knew Jesus was so funny?
I watched a new comedy last week called A To Z; it’s one of those “relationship” comedies, but it’s just quirky enough not to be sappy, and just well-written enough to be actually funny.

As in the scene where our couple is sitting in a trendy martini bar and the bartender asks the girl if she likes her “Martini Navratilova.”

He then offers to make her a “Martini Luther King Jr.”

Okay, it made me laugh, and I also got a little tingly with the adorkable male lead, Ben Feldman.

I do so love a dork; hell, I’m marrying one!
American Horror Story Freak Show started last night and, naturally, Jessica Lange was brilliant, and fearless and fabulous, and a bit shocking. Plus, all kinds of oddities, some real, I think, and some not, I think. And, if you have a fear of clowns, well, yeah, you know.

Next up for Ryan Murphy, creator of AHS, is American Crime Story, the first season of which will focus on the OJ Simpson trial.

Having lived through it, I’d think that case would be better suited under the Freak Show umbrella.
Did I mention I’m getting married? I think I may have …

At any rate, just yesterday a judge down in Charleston County issued a marriage license to a same-sex couple; one half of the duo was his own sister.

Yup, the Honorable Irvin Condon, accepted a marriage license and fee from his cousin, Charleston County Councilwoman Colleen Condon, and her fiancée, Nichols Bleckley.  After the requisite 24-hour statutory waiting period, Judge Condon says he will issue Condon and Bleckley their marriage license unless a court of competent — is that a trick question — jurisdiction orders him not too.

This would make Colleen and Nichols eligible to become the first same-sex couple to be legally wed in South Carolina.

And then just as that news broke, came the news that Richland County, home to the capital, Columbia, and just a hop, skip and a jump from Smallville, has also begun issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

In freaking South Carolina!

Richland County Probate Judge Amy McCulloch said she accepted applications for the first time because, “I believe it’s time for this to change. It’s a fundamental right to be with who you want to be with.” She also said she changed categories on the county’s marriage license paper application from “bride” and “groom” to “Applicant 1” and “Applicant 2.”

Like Judge Condon, McCulloch is also waiting to see how the Attorney General’s office or the state Supreme Court reacts to taking marriage-license applications from same-sex couples.

But it’s shocking to hear that same-sex couples are getting marriage licenses in, again, freaking South Carolina!

UPDATE: Our wingnut Attorney general has asked the state courts to halt the issuance of marriage licenses; for now, because one day soon he'll look a bigger fool than he did yesterday.
On the flip side, asshat, wingnut, douchebag Utah Republican state representative Kraig Powell opened a bill file in the Utah legislature to revise marriage statutes, suggesting that the law be rewritten to refer to same-sex marriages as "pairages."

I ask that the law be rewritten to refer to Powell as an effing moron, and I think my bill will pass first.
Look at that Clay Aiken, so sharp-tongued and quick-witted.

Clay is running to be North Carolina second district representative, and recently had a debate with the incumbent Republican Renee Ellmers, who, like all race-baiting goose-stepping GOPers keeps trying to tie her opponent to Barack Obama because, well, I guess they think that’s bad.

And Clay ain’t playing that, and when Ellmers uttered the line, “This Obama-Aiken economy is just killing us,” Clay responded, “You might need to get a new writer because calling it the Obama-Aiken economy is just preposterous.”

Still, Ellmers kept at it, this time alluding to Aiken's vocal prowess and showmanship while discussing the U.S. military:

“It's almost as if as an entertainer, you believe that you can just go in with a song and dance and change the mind of the military leaders.”

Aiken said, and it still makes me giggle, “The most embarrassing reality show in the country right now is Congress.”

Two snaps up for Aiken!

Random Musings

Overheard at Home:
Bob: "Maya Angelou died today."
Carlos: "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that."
Bob: "Yeah, she had a pretty incredible life."
Carlos: "Now, which aunt is that — ?"
Bob: "What?"
Carlos: "Is that your aunt from Virginia?"
Goddess love him, eh?
I like a good beer, but I especially like one that tastes like equality.

Out in Idaho Crooked Fence Brewing has released a new brew taking aim at their anti-marriage equality governor, C.L. 'Butch' Otter. Their new India brown ale is being called "Little Bitch Otter."

Crooked Fence Brewing co-owner and marketing director Kelly Knopp:

"Anyone that is going to try to take away freedoms or not let someone be equal, Crooked Fence is against."

Knopp also says a portion of opening day sales will go directly to Add the Words Idaho, and the Pride Foundation.

Good brew!
I didn't watch Lifetime's Flowers in the Attic or the sequel Petals on the Wind because they sounded kinda stupid and kinda soft-core lady porn.

But then I saw actor Wyatt Nash, who co-stars in Petals, and, while I still won't watch it, i may be on the lookout for him.
Well, well, well, count me in.

The U.S. Census Bureau will start categorizing gay married couples as families. Gay married couples are families? Who knew?

The 2013 American Community Survey results, which will be reported in September, will, for the first time, integrate the estimated 180,000 same-sex married couples into the nation’s 56 million families.

We count! We really count!
Okay, so y’all know I’ve taken shots at Justin Bieber in this here bloggy thing because he’s kind of a spoiled little douche, a Sizzurp-slurping, weed-smoking, drag-racing, law-breaking, egg-tossing, fan-hating, misogynist, but, you know, every once in a while even a puissant like The Biebs does something right.

At a recent event for amfAR [American Foundation for AIDS Research] Bieber was listening as one man stepped up with a donation of $545,000 to the charity and he decided, quietly, to match the offer with his own 545K.

His act of generosity apparently stunned the crowd, and also stunned organizers who asked him if he was serious; he was.

I’ll give him props for that.
After cutting Jessica Urbina’s picture from the yearbook because she was wearing a tuxedo, the Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep school in San Francisco has apologized for their asshatted move.

School president John Scudder Jr. and Principal Gary Cannon applauded the students who stood up for, and stood by, Jessica:

“Given the nature of this specific case, we believe that decision, while conforming with our policy, was wrong.”

School officials now say the dress code will be updated to no longer require female students to wear dresses in an effort to be more sensitive every student’s gender identity.

Too bad, though, that Jessica won’t appear in this year’s yearbook.
I was surfing this here Interwebz and I came across this headline over at Towleroad:

‘CLUELESS' ACTRESS STACEY DASH JOINS FOX NEWS

Clueless, indeed. Sometimes these things just write themselves!
Florida … of course … Republican … naturally … Representative  Charles Van Zant has said that the American Institute for Research, a testing company administering new statewide tests for students, has a pro-homosexual agenda because it has done research on LGBT issues.

Speaking at an education conference, Van Zant said the testing program would "attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can."

Yeah, that old indoctrination lie. But it’s a Republican from Florida so did anyone really expect common sense, or even the truth?
Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t posted about 22-year-old Elliot Rodger’s murder spree in Santa Barbara last week.

Well, it’s because I’m tired. I’m tired of everyone getting all riled up about these things when they happen and demanding that gun laws change and then doing nothing about it. I am tired of our elected officials using these murders as a chance to speak about gun control and then go back to their cushy jobs and do nothing about it.

We don’t want gun control, as a nation, because if we did we would demand it, and we would vote out of office every single Republican, Democrat, Independent, and Teabagger who is in the pocket of the NRA. But we don’t, so we don’t care about gun control.

Until it hits close to home, as happened to Richard Martinez, whose son Christopher was murdered by Elliot Rodger. Martinez wants members of Congress and others to stop calling him to offer condolences for his son's death, and he wants them to do something:

"I don’t care about your sympathy. I don’t give a s— that you feel sorry for me. Get to work and do something. I’ll tell the president the same thing if he calls me. Getting a call from a politician doesn’t impress me. … They talk about gun rights. What about Chris' right to live?! When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say, 'Stop this madness?' We don't have to live like this! Too many have died. We should say to ourselves, 'Not. One. More.' … I’m angry with the leadership of the NRA who always want to characterize this as if it’s a lone madman. That it’s an act of nature we have to tolerate. I am angered by how they have worked to normalize this. … I will go anywhere and do anything to support political candidates who are running for office who are in favor of reasonable gun control. … You don’t need three handguns with 400 rounds (of ammunition). That’s crazy. It’s a matter of proportion.”

Hopefully Martinez, who is meeting with Elliot Rodger’s father to create a plan to have stricter gun laws enacted, will be the one to do something.

So we won’t have to hear about these stories again.
Now, onto some better news …

St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, has shut down its dedicated AIDS ward, saying they no longer have enough patients — and the end of AIDS is in sight.

Ward 10C opened in February 1997 during the peak of the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Vancouver, when approximately one person was dying of AIDS every day. Earlier diagnosis of HIV, along with advances in treatment and care, has resulted in a significant decrease of AIDS. Patients living with HIV will continue to receive world-leading treatment and care. The focus of the ward will include treatment related to addictions such as various bacterial and viral infections like chronic hepatitis.

British Columbia's number of AIDS cases has dropped by 90% since 1995.

Perhaps an end is in sight?
And more good news …

Orange is the New Black actress and trans activist Laverne Cox will be the cover-girl on the June 9th issue of TIME Magazine and took to Facebook to spread the word:

“What a wonderful bday present! Yes today is my birthday and I am on the cover of @TIME magazine. I realize this is way bigger than me and about a tipping point in our nation's history where it is no longer acceptable for trans lives to be stigmatized, ridiculed, criminalized and disregarded. This is for my trans siblings out there and for anyone who has ever been told that who you know yourself to be at your core is not legitimate. You are who you know yourselves to be. #girlslikeus #whereislavernecox #lavernehive”

The times continue to change, eh?
