Frank Rich, on the Republican scramble to support marriage equality:

It's that whole 'wrong side of history' thing, and makes me wonder how the GOP will spin that when marriage equality is everywhere.

Christopher West, 'author,' says same-sex marriage exists is because Satan wants to destroy opposite sex love-making:

"This story is only revealed in the glory and beauty and mystery of the sexual difference. That's where we see the call to holy, life-giving communion. What we're losing, what we're risking, is when we don't live the sexual difference rightly that calls men and women to communion, what is ultimately at stake is we're not going to see the call to holy communion with Christ....Perhaps there is an enemy at work here. If the union of man and woman really is the revelation of Christ's love for the Church, then it would make sense that an enemy would want to attack the union of man and woman precisely to prevent us from entering the union of Christ and the Church."

Um, I think Satan has better things to do....or is it worse things to do....than worry about how The Gays have sex. Just like God has better thing to do than pick Oscar winners and Superbowl Champs.

Brenden Petersen, Republican senator from Minnesota, on the threat by NOM's Brian Brown to unseat any Republican who supports marriage equality:

"Regardless of the amount, whether it's $500,000 or $50 million, my vote is not going to bought either way. I'm going to do what's right. If they want to throw away $500,000, then that's their decision."

Snap.

And Nom, who wasted some $2 million last year to have a same-sex marriage ban written into the Minnesota Constitution, should rethink how they spend their money.

I think it best they spend it on resume building, because they'll all be out of work soon.

Peter Sprigg, Family Research Council vice president, on the Maryland Senate Judiciary Committee considering a bill to ban gender identity discrimination:

"A person who believes they are, or wishes to be, the opposite sex from that which is written in the chromosomes of every cell of his or her body, is suffering from a disconnection with an immutable biological reality. The solution to this problem is not actions - up to and including self-mutilating surgery amputating healthy body parts - which will reinforce this disconnect with reality. I must oppose this bill because it will not work. This bill would force the state and private actors - employers, landlords, and others who provide public services - to officially and legally affirm the very delusion that puts these suffering individuals at odds with reality. Not only will it not make their lives better, but it will prevent them from getting the very help they do need to make their lives better."

I think Sprigg is suffering from a split between his brain and his mouth. His science is off, his thoughts are off, he's just plain off.

Discrimination of anyone is wrong. Plain and simple.

Roger Mahony, Catholic Cardinal, complaining that people are being mean to him just because he shielded pedophiles from the police:

You helped, helped, priests rape children, because you kept them hidden and safe and free to rape and rape and rape again, and did nothing, so, if people are being mean to you …. Boo-fucking-hoo.

Anderson Cooper, on whether or not people in the media who are closeted should come out or not:

"I mean look, it’s a personal decision that everyone has to make for their own reasons. Obviously, I think we’re all better off with greater visibility, so I would encourage people to do what they’re comfortable with, but no, my opinion hasn’t changed. Look, I’m pretty understanding of where people are at, and people are at different places in their lives. But there’s a bunch of people whom I’m surprised have not been more forward, and you know given their position and the extent to which they’re forward about other aspects about their lives."

I think it’s a personal choice to come out, but when you see how much better, happy, more at peace, those people are who’ve chosen to come out, then you must realize that it’s okay.

Pope Benny, in his farewell address:

So, Benny believes God, the all-knowing, all-powerful, all-present, God, has been asleep some oft eh time and that’s why certain things have happened?

His theory may have some merit. I mean, lets’ say God was asleep all those years that the Catholic Church has been protecting pedophiles. Makes sense, no? I mean an awake God surely would have had something to say about child rapists in the church.

Peter Sprigg: The Once And Future Asshat Queen....Cuz, You Know, He Has A Little Gay Face Going On

Wingnut Peter Sprigg, of the infamous Family Research Council, has said some outrageous [read: idiotic, moronic, asshatted] things over the years about the LGBT community, and he continues his special brand of hate-speak. Before we get to that, however, let's look back at Little Pete's words when when President Obama awarded a posthumous Medal Of Freedom to Harvey Milk:

"When President Obama today awards a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom to Harvey Milk, it may mark the first time in history that the nation's highest civilian award has been granted primarily on the basis of someone's sex life.
As the White House announcement explained, "Harvey Milk became the first openly gay elected official from a major city in the United States when he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977." Yet Milk served in that office for less than a year, so that hardly qualifies him for the Medal of Freedom. Milk was also assassinated in November of 1978. But that cannot qualify him for this award, either – San Francisco Mayor George Moscone was killed by the same assassin the same day, but he will receive no Medal of Freedom. At least lesbian Billie Jean King, who will also be honored by Obama, was a genuine tennis star."

Now, nothing against Billie Jean, but wasn't she a mostly closeted athlete, who kept silent about her orientation for years? And, yes, that was her choice, but her coming out, and working for LGBT rights didn't happen until after she quit tennis.

Harvey Milk, on the other hand, while openly gay, made tremendous strides for the LGBT community. He was a forerunner for the modern-day movement; he worked to stop the Briggs Initiative which would have made it illegal, yes, against the law, for gay men and women to be teachers in California.

I always thought that deserved an award.

Then Little Pete decided that, like the Briggs Initiative, gay men and women should not be allowed near children; he advocated something like a universal anti-gay restraining order:

"Homosexuality is associated with higher rates of sexual promiscuity, sexually transmitted diseases, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, and child sexual abuse, and those are all reasons for us to be concerned about placing children into that kind of setting."

Even though most, and by most I mean over 90% of pedophiles are straight men like, ahem, Little Pete, he continues to spread the lie that gay men and women will harm children. In addition, I don't think the LGBT community is any more sexually promiscuous, or mentally ill, or more likely to abuse others, than the straight community. It isn't a Gay v Straight thing; it's a Gay AND Straight thing.

But then Miss Peter decides to speak again, and to declare that homosexuals should be deported:

"I would much prefer to export homosexuals from the United States than to import them into the United States because we believe homosexuality is destructive to society."

The LGBT community is destructive? More destructive than calling a group of people pedophiles or drug addicts, or mentally ill? Because, you're looking awfully deport-able to me, right about now, Petey, based on your own criteria.

And just when you think Little Pete couldn't get more offensive, more bigoted, he goes on Hardball with Chris Matthews [video HERE] to discuss the repeal of DADT and says things like this:

It would be "unfair to put soldiers in a position of forced cohabitation with those who may be viewing them as sexual objects."

You know The Gays. We think of nothing but sex, and how to get it, where to get it, and with whom to get it. I mean, it isn't like we're Tiger woods, or John Edwards or anything.

Little Pete also says gays "are restrained in their behavior by the current policy [DADT]"

Yes, we are so restrained that we cannot do the job for which we applied and trained, because we're too busy thinking about sex. or causing earthquakes with our having sex: see HERE.

And, when asked what a young gay man or woman, who wants to serve their country, should do, Little Pete The Bigot, said, "[T]hey should serve in a civilian capacity...because the presence of homosexuals in the military is incompatible with good order, morale, discipline and unit cohesion."

But, Petey, if we can't keep our hands off the hot straight guys in the military--or hot straight women if you're swinging like that--how can we be expected to keep our hands off straight people in any kind of civilian capacity?

"There would be a place for criminal sanctions for homosexual behavior."

Yes, Little Petey Sprigg, wants to punish people criminally for being gay.

Wow, the right to love whomever you love without being criticized. I didn't know it was such a bad thing. And I didn't know that all those years ago Harvey was fighting for the right to die from complications of AIDS. I thought he was fighting for civil rights.
