Bobservations

Tuesday night Carlos and I had one of our rare spats; I’ll spare you the details but it’s one of those things that, were it to continue happening and not spoken about, it would go from spat to brawl—not a real brawl—kind of quickly.

I came home from work the day after the incident and told Carlos how I felt and how, if I didn’t say anything, this might continue to happen and fester and then we’d be really arguing about something that isn’t really an argument, so I will tell you how the conversation started:

“Okay, I’m not mad at you but let me tell you why I’m mad.”

And about three minutes later, after listening and talking, the spat ended with:

“So, that Liza documentary. Oy, what a clusterfuck.”

And that’s how it goes at Casa Bob y Carlos.

This Tuxedo Says is from February 2021 …

Clearly when a cat gets the idea of Separation of Church and State, people will understand it, too? Oh, who am I kidding.

Sidenote: I was closing the blinds in the living room last night and looked out the window and saw Tuxedo sitting on the front walkway. Now, it wasn’t my Great Tuxedo, but it was a younger look-alike … who was given some food to see if he comes back.

Actor David Boreanaz spoke at the recent Bones: 20th Anniversary Retrospective panel—seriously??? A Bones Retrospective?—and recalled meeting Betty White in 2015:

“Emily [Deschanel] and I are waiting for her. And she’s like, ‘Good to see you. Oh, good to see you. You’re so nice. You’re so pretty.’”

And then he says Betty White said to him:

“She looks at me, she goes, ‘Holy s–t, I want to f–k you. I want to f–k you!’”

Funny that in ten years Boreanaz never told this story even once before White passed and even more telling is that his Bones co-star Emily Deschanel had no memory of the interaction at all. I mean, Betty White says she wants to f*ck your co-star and you forget about it? Sounds like Boreanaz is trying to make himself relevant?

Here’s a look at the always popular “Booty Call Cakes,” and I must say I will be answering that call.

Straight from The Felon’s mouth:

“San Francisco was a great city … fifteen years ago.”

Fun fact: fifteen years ago Gavin Newsom was the mayor of San Francisco and Kamala Harris was the District Attorney.

In a very timely response, Broadway performer and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner, Jinkx Monsoon called out the GOP and The Felon for their attempts to whitewash history.

Speaking to Good Morning America about her new role as the lead in Cole Escola’s Tony Award-winning hit Broadway show Oh, Mary!— described by its creator and original star as "a dark comedy about a miserable Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination”—the hosts proposed a rapid-fire game they called “Oh, Jinkx!”

GMA hosts Gio Benitez, Janai Norman and Whit Johnson threw "crazy White House" situations, or at least the Oh, Mary! version of it, at Jinkx to get her immediate reaction and the final situation was:

"You’ve just been told you’re the understudy for Mary’s husband and the show starts in five minutes."

Without hesitation, Monsoon—a transgender woman—responded:

"Well, everyone, this is how it goes. Abraham Lincoln is now a trans woman, and that’s all there is to it … Since lawmakers get to rewrite history, why can’t I?"

Monsoon then let loose her signature cackle.

Snap.

More stupidity from The Felon? Well, he said this week that the US is the only country that uses Mail-In Voting.

Well, except for the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Canada, India, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Russia, and 22 other countries ... and Florida which is where The Felon and his Slovenian Hooker Wife vote by mail.

I know very little about Carlos Machado who says he was born from the Earth but do we really need any information other than Would You Hit It?

I Ain't One To Gossip But ...

The home of actress[?] and extremely self-entitled bad parent, Lori Loughlin and her equally criminal husband, Mossimo Giannulli, was broken into and the thieves made off with $1 million dollars in jewelry.

And I could think was: if you had a million in jewels why’d you have to scam your daughter’s entry in college, unless you just feel like you don’t have to pay for anything.

Sorry, not sorry.

If you wanna make Prince Andrew “shout and scream” don’t set him up with an underage girl or sue him in civil court for sexual assault, just put any of his 60 teddy bears in the wrong place.

The Duke of York is said to have an extensive collection of cuddly toys carefully arranged on a bed and royal staff were given a laminated photo of the furry menagerie to ensure they were all put back in the right place after cleaning because the sixty-one-year-old prince would fly into a rage if they weren’t exactly how he liked them.

I wonder if he sexually abused Teddy.

Jamie Lynn Spears is waving the white flag and begging big sister Britney Spears to put an end to their “embarrassing” war of words, taking her pleas to social media:

“Britney — just call me. I have attempted many times to speak to you directly and handle this privately like sisters should, but you still choose to do everything on a public platform. In the meantime, please stop continuing the narrative that I haven’t been there for you or that I’m making things up. I’m happy to share how many times I’ve reached out to you, supported you and tried to help you. This is embarrassing and has to stop. Love you.”

Um, Jamie Lynn? Bless your heart, hon, but that was you all over the media last week talking about your sister and the new book you wrote about your family, so maybe you should keep your mouth shut to the press because you're not only a terrible sister, but a terrible actress as well..

The thirst is real … annoying … for Jamie Lynn.

It breaks my heart to see true love die, but it’s a fact … Pamela Anderson and her fifth husband, Dan Hayhurst, are divorcing after 53 weeks of marital bliss.

Anderson filed for divorce in her native Canada, where she and her now-estranged husband have been living since they wed on Christmas Eve 2020 in a ceremony on the property of Anderson’s Vancouver Island home. Anderson and Hayhurst’s union was plagued with drama from the get-go, when Hayhurst’s ex Carey ALLEGED that Pammy had split up their family:

“I decided to speak out because I want people to know that my almost five-year relationship, with three children involved, ended because of the affair Pam and Dan started while he was still with me. It’s sad that people celebrate this and cheer them on, when it started with deceit, denials and life-shattering choices for all the people involved.”

If you remember correctly—please get out your Official Pamela Anderson Marriage Cards™—Anderson and Hayhurst began dating in September 2020 right after she ended her twelve-day marriage to Jon Peters. Her marriage to her first husband Tommy Lee, lasted from 1995 to 1998; her second marriage to Kid Rock lasted from 2006 to, well, 2006. She was married to Rick Salomon from 2007 to 2007 and then again from 2014 to 2015.

If she stays true to form, Pammy will marry in a few months from now and then divorce just before Christmas 2021.

Place your bets.

Now to cleanse the crazy … Betty White would have been 100 years on Monday, though she sadly died a few weeks before that milestone.

Betty adored animals and did tons of work with the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association and even received the James Smithson Bicentennial Medal in 2017 for her charitable work with zoos and animal shelters. And in honor of what would’ve been Betty’s 100th birthday the #BettyWhiteChallenge was born on social media, encouraging people to donate $5 to animal shelters, rescues, and other organizations across the country.

A rep for GoFundMe confirms that animal-specific fundraisers and donations to animal-related fundraisers are up in the two weeks since Betty passed away, and other organizations are seeing the same trends. Local animal shelters all over the country also reported jumps in donations this week.

Betty’s good works continue, even after she passed.

Betty White ... Thank You For Being A Friend

Gosh, I loved Betty White … sweet and perky and naughty and sassy. I cannot see a picture of her or watch a video without smiling. But here’s one reason I loved Betty …

In 1954, she had her own variety show, The Betty White Show, and one week she featured tap dancer Arthur Duncan, a Black ,man. Betty received all kinds of hate mail for doing that and her response was:

"I'm sorry. Live with it."

And then she proceeded to have Arthur Duncan on regularly before her show was canceled. That was Betty White. In the 1950s she had zero fucks to give. And here’s how she’s remembered …

“I don’t drink vodka … but I will tonight, on ice, with a slice of lemon with a hot dog on the other side and just be ok being sad. I’ll have to buy some rose colored glasses because Betty was that for all of us.”—Sandra Bullock

"The world looks different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We'll miss you, Betty."—Ryan Reynolds

"I loved Betty very, very much. The world has lost one in a million."—Carol Burnett

"RIP Betty White, the only SNL host I ever saw get a standing ovation at the after party. A party at which she ordered a vodka and a hotdog and stayed til the bitter end."—Seth Meyers

“I hosted one of the many attempted reboots of the Pyramid game show in 2010 and Betty was a celebrity guest. The only thing she asked for all day was two bean and cheese burritos from Taco Bell.”—Andy Richter

"I had the honor of working with Betty on the series Bob and the finale of Hot In Cleveland. Betty was a regular on Jack Paar’s late night show and in 1960 she was there when I did my first stand-up on national television. Betty practically invented television and was a total pro. We lost a giant one today."—Bob Newhart

“I grew up watching and being delighted by her. She was playful and daring and smart. We all knew this day would come but it doesn’t take away the feeling of loss. A national treasure, indeed. Fly with the Angels.”—Debra Messing

“Our national treasure, Betty White, has passed just before her 100th birthday. Our Sue Ann Nivens, our beloved Rose Nylund, has joined the heavens to delight the stars with her inimitable style, humor, and charm. A great loss to us all. We shall miss her dearly.”—George Takei

“Betty White dying three weeks before she turned 100 is the final act of performer whose timing was always sharp, always unexpected, and even with the warmest of characters, always a little dangerous. No one else could live to 99 and so perfectly leave us wanting more.”—Guy Branum

“Betty White brought a smile to the lips of generations of Americans. She’s a cultural icon who will be sorely missed. Jill and I are thinking of her family and all those who loved her this New Year’s Eve.”—President Biden

“A spirit of goodness and hope. Betty White was much beloved because of who she was, and how she embraced a life well lived. Her smile. Her sense of humor. Her basic decency. Our world would be better if more followed her example. It is diminished with her passing.”—Dan Rather

“Rest in peace, sweet Betty. My God, how bright heaven must be right now.”—Valerie Bertinelli

“Betty White was an icon in the entertainment industry and a true ‘friend’ to the LGBTQ community. Her character Rose on The Golden Girls was instrumental in drawing mainstream attention to LGBTQ issues on television, namely an episode that raised awareness about HIV in 1990. Throughout the rest of her career, White used her platform to advocate for many issues affecting the LGBTQ community, including marriage equality and supporting at-risk queer youth.”—Anthony Allen Ramos, GLAAD

“In 1974, I was an obscure opening act for Linda Ronstadt at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Passing through the lobby before the show, I saw Betty White and her husband Allen Ludden waiting in line. I loved Betty White, so I went up to them: ‘I’m so honored to meet you both.’ And then I said, ‘Isn’t Linda great?’ She said, ‘We came to see you … because we heard you were funny.’ I was elated.”—Steve Martin

Lastly, here’s Betty White, in her own words, on dying:

“My mother had the most wonderful outlook on death. She would always say, ‘Nobody knows. People think they do—you can believe whatever you want to believe what happens at that last moment—but nobody ever knows until it happens.' Growing up, whenever we’d lose somebody, she’d always say, ‘Now, they know the secret.'”

And now Betty knows it, too.

RIP Golden Girl

I Didn't Say It ....

Joan Rivers, in her new book, I Hate Everybody Including Me, on Glee:
"You know that cute Asian boy who plays a freshman? In real life he's a thirty-year-old man and he's upside down on a mortgage in Burbank. The only way Lea Michele is in high school is if she's part of some bizarre religious cult and she's come back to school with bombs strapped to her boobs. The only true character on Glee is the fat girl because in real life she is a fat girl. On Glee all the homo kids are smiling and giggly and they spend every day singing in the halls. When I went to high school, the homos spent most of their days hiding in their lockers, crying!"

She’s irreverent, she’s sometimes rude, but she’s always funny.
Love me some JR.

Patrick Wooden, “pastor”, saying no one wants a gay child:
”Young people grow up and it's amazing what happens when you become a mom or a dad yourself. It's amazing what happens when, all of a sudden now you are entrusted with a young life and that kid looks just like you and all of a sudden now it's your little boy or your little girl. No one wants their son to be a homosexual. No one wants their daughter to be a homosexual. No one, no one would want their child - even the homosexual father doesn't want his son to be homosexual; the lesbian mother does not want her daughter to be lesbian."

I think most good parents just want healthy, decent children who grow up to be healthy decent adults and not mind-numbingly dumb, homophobic—and therefore possibly homosexual—bigots who hide their hate behind the Bible.
Eh, “pastor”? I imagine your parents are not so proud of their child.

Lawrence O'Donnell, on the story that Mittsy Romney used to brag about impersonating a police officer:
“When Mitt Romney wasn't gay bashing kids whose hair he didn't like, Mitt Romney’s other favorite sick thing to do was to impersonate a police officer. In an exclusive article just released tonight by the National Memo, details emerge of a Mitt Romney who as a college freshman at Stanford University allegedly admitted to fellow dorm mates that he sometimes disguised himself as a police officer, and laid out on his bed was a Michigan state trooper's uniform. One of the people who saw the uniform said he told us that he had gotten the uniform from his father, George Romney, then the governor of Michigan, whose security detail was staffed by uniform troopers. He told us that he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. 'He also had a red flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white rambler. We thought it was all pretty weird....'”

The more you hear about the wacky shenanigans of young Mittsy, you know his bullying of supposedly gay students and his physical assaults on those students, and now the idea that he used to pretend to be a police officer, just serves to make it clear that he is not fit to be president.
Of anything.

Tim Walberg, congressman from Michigan, whose bill to allow prayer before public school board meetings has 33 GOP House cosponsors:
"This is not an issue of school prayer, it's an issue of a fact that a school board--like the legislature or Congress or the Supreme Court; a deliberative body making decisions that have the force of law--should be, if they desire--not mandated, but if they desire, and the community supports it--that they should be able to open in prayer."

Apparently in Michigan everything is just fine. Unemployment is way down and the economy is just booming—and Detroit isn’t on the brink of going broke—because why else would someone who should know something about “Separation Of Church and State” even be suggesting that prayer be allowed in public schools?
I mean, if they do this, then I suggest that Walberg and his icky ilk demand that churches teach algebra on Sundays because the line between church and state no longer exists in Michigan.

Adam Levine, on women:
"There are two kinds of men. There are men who are f**king misogynist pigs, and then there are men who just really love women, who think they're the most amazing people in the world. And that's me. Maybe the reason I was promiscuous, and wanted to sleep with a lot of them, is that I love them so much."

Um, there might be two types of men, Adam “MY birth control method is to pull out” Levine, but you are one of the misogynists.
You f**k around a lot because you love women? No, you f**k around a lot because you’re a douchebag rock star who bought into a myth and now tried to justify it.

Celine Dion, on Kate Winslet's diss of the Titanic theme song:
"The way I see it is that ‘My Heart Will Go On’ gave me the opportunity to be associated with a classic that will live forever. If I just count how many times I’ve sung it, maybe it’ll get me sick. If she feels tired just hearing it, and, like, throwing up, I’m glad she was not the one singing it."

Don’t take it personally, Celine.
Lots of people want to throw up when you start singing.

Carrie Underwood, on marriage equality:
"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love....Our church is gay friendly. Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody."

Nice that a very popular and very successful country music performer has come out for equality.
It’s about time.

Zach Wahls, on the Boy Scouts decision to review its anti-LGBT policy:
“It’s not a smokescreen. This proposal was made after Jen Tyrrell’s petition on Change.org. So even though this has been brought up in the past, it’s never gotten nearly the level of attention that it has today. And as another departure from the past, there’s never been a group-- which I actually launched in coordination with a number of other Eagle Scouts today called Scouts For Equality-- and we’re going to be working with a number of different groups to really build a community of scouts-- Eagle scouts, former scout leaders, that sort of thing--we’re really going to work toward making this policy change."

I hope he’s right.
I hope the BSA finally decides to stop being bigots.

Lady Gaga, on Madonna….maybe:
"It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make mockery of their work…And that doesn’t make me feel good at all. That just makes me feel like I’m not a good human being…I don’t even want to fight back because it’s more important to me to keep writing music. Because that’s really all I care about, is the music. Things are really different than they were 25 years ago, and that’s what makes Born This Way so relevant for me… We’re socially in a different place and it’s OK, we don’t have to all slice and hate each other anymore.”

But Madonna has to make fun of Gaga and show her nipples in concert to get press,
Stop the hate, Madge.
Listen to Gaga.

Betty White, on being a gay icon:
"Oh! I didn't know I was a gay icon. I get a lot of mail--but I don't get many bad letters--but I got a woman the other day that was so upset with me because they said, 'How do you feel about the gay marriage thing?' and my answer to that is, 'I really don't care with whom you sleep, I just care what kind of a decent human being you are.' I figure all the rest of it is your business and not mine. And not hers, incidentally."

Preach it Sister Betty!
And you are a gay icon.

James Turley, Global Chairman & CEO of Ernst & Young, calling on the Boy Scouts to drop its anti-LGBT discriminatory policy:
“Ernst & Young is proud to have such a strong record in LGBT inclusiveness. As CEO, I know that having an inclusive culture produces the best results, is the right thing for our people and makes us a better organization. My experience has led me to believe that an inclusive environment is important throughout our society and I am proud to be a leader on this issue. I support the meaningful work of the Boy Scouts in preparing young people for adventure, leadership, learning and service, however the membership policy is not one I would personally endorse. As I have done in leading Ernst & Young to being a most inclusive organization, I intend to continue to work from within the BSA Board to actively encourage dialogue and sustainable progress.”

Sounds about right.
I mean, how can the BSA say they build character in young people when they openly discriminate?
That isn’t character.

I Didn't Say It........

Zachary Quinto, writing on his website of how Jamey Rodemeyer's suicide as the result of bullying, was the impetus for his own public coming out:
"when i found out that jamey rodemeyer killed himself - i felt deeply troubled.  but when i found out that jamey rodemeyer had made an it gets better video only months before taking his own life - i felt indescribable despair. i also made an it gets better video last year - in the wake of the senseless and tragic gay teen suicides that were sweeping the nation at the time.  but in light of jamey's death - it became clear to me in an instant that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it - is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality.
our society needs to recognize the unstoppable momentum toward unequivocal civil equality for every gay lesbian bisexual and transgendered citizen of this country.  gay kids need to stop killing themselves because they are made to feel worthless by cruel and relentless bullying.  parents need to teach their children principles of respect and acceptance.  we are witnessing an enormous shift of collective consciousness throughout the world.  we are at the precipice of great transformation within our culture and government.  i believe in the power of intention to change the landscape of our society - and it is my intention to live an authentic life of compassion and integrity and action.  jamey rodemeyer's life changed mine.  and while his death only makes me wish that i had done this sooner - i am eternally grateful to him for being the catalyst for change within me.  now i can only hope to serve as the same catalyst for even one other person in this world.  that - i believe - is all that we can ask of ourselves and of each other.

'Nuff said, eh?

Allan HubleyKanata South Councillor, on his son Jamie's suicide:
"Recently, when Jamie tried to start a Rainbow Club at his high school to promote acceptance of others, the posters were torn down and he was called vicious names in the hallways and online. We had meetings with officials at the school and were working with them to bring an end to it but Jamie felt it would never stop.
We will not say that the bullying was the only reason for James’s decision to take his own life but it was definitely a factor. As his family and friends or even if you never met him but want to help, we must do whatever we can to wipe out bullying for any reason in our society and especially in our schools. Young people are very vulnerable and have enough pressures in life to have to deal with aside from the stress of being bullied. My family’s wish is that no more families have to suffer the unbearable pain of losing a child. No child should have to deal with depression or feel hated because of their beliefs – that is not the Canadian way of treating others."

How horrible to lose a child, but far worse when you realize that one of the factors that lead to Jamie's suicide--the bullying--could have and should have been stopped.
Schools need a Zero Tolerance policy on bullying.
Bully someone and you're out.
That's it.

Kelsey Grammer, on how he feels about the Tea Party stance on gay marriage:
"I wouldn't sign on to that. Absolutely. I played several [gay characters]. I guess I'm more Libertarian in that way. I think marriage is up to two people that love each other. And if you find the church that you want to get married in you go right ahead ..In my mind the state of marriage is something that has been endorsed by the idea that it is a sacrament within the context of a faith...the word marriage comes out of the religious side of our experience and our history. So I tend to think our government shouldn't be involved in any way..."

Kelsey's kind of a right-wing douche, but he knows how his bread is buttered.
He works in an industry populated by LGBT men and women, and to come out as a marriage-equality hating teabagger would serve him no good at all.

Kelly Clarkson, on stalking Adele:
"I want to stalk Adele so she'll sing with me. I love her voice and I really want to sing with her. She knows that. We were on 'Divas' together and I cornered her in her room and said, 'I really want to sing with you!' I just love her voice. I saw her performance on the VMAs and the EMAs. All these performers came out and did a great job, but then this girl comes out and she's just standing there with a microphone and there's a piano and she just kills everyone! She was the most memorable act of the night. She's just so talented."

I dunno about the rest of you, but I think Kelly and Adele would sound great together.
That's an album, er, that makes me sound old.
That's a CD, er, again....old.
That's a download I'd do.
And that just sounds nasty.

John Smid, former head of Exodus International, on "ex"-gays:
"So often people will say someone needs to 'repent' from homosexuality. It is something that actually cannot be repented of! People are, or they are not, homosexual. It is an intrinsic part of their being or personally, my being. One cannot repent of something that is unchangeable. I have gone through a tremendous amount of grief over the many years that I spoke of change, repentance, reorientation and such, when, barring some kind of miracle, none of this can occur with homosexuality."

Take that, Missus and Missus Bachmann.

Randy Thomasson, anti-LGBT activist and 'Save California' head, on the fact that the effort to repeal SB48 [aka the LGBT History Bill] won't make the ballot this year:
"The government's schools are no longer for the parents. They're anti-parent. I believe in God's schools and the Devil's schools, and if you want your children in God's schools, you've got to get them out and put them into home schooling..."
Schools that teach the accomplishments of, or contributions to society made by, LGBT people are Devil Schools, while schools that refrain from mentioning any LGBT people are God's schools?
Oh, Randy, you douchenozzle, you got it backwards.

Duncan Hunter, GOP congressman, on how The Gays will take over the military:
"This is exactly what we knew would happen. We’re not especially clairvoyant, we can’t see into the future, but the homosexual lobby isn’t simply pressing to have equal status in the military with people that are heterosexual. They would like a military takeover by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community, and that’s what they’re going to keep pushing for until it happens."

Yes, our plan is to take over the military so we can turn it into the biggest Circuit Party in the world.
I mean, what else does Duncan think we do in the military?
Fight wars? Protect America?
Silly Duncan.
We just wanna get laid.

Betty White, on being a gay icon:
“Throughout my career, I've always portrayed characters that were humorous, but also weren't afraid to speak their minds, especially when it came to racy or controversial topics. I think this struck a chord with the LGBT community. We both also share a very strong love for animals. When you combine the two, it's a very strong match.”

Well, yes, we does likes our strong funny ballsy brash women who say whatever they want. But, Betty, i think it boils down to the fact that you are simply faboosh!

David PocockAustralia rugby union player, on his support of marriage equality:
"I don't see what the big deal is with the whole gay marriage debate in Australia. Being brought up in a Christian home and still identifying as Christian, I get pretty annoyed with the Christian lobbies around the world who say gay marriage destroys the family and all that kind of rubbish. They claim to follow someone who always stood up for the oppressed and marginalised. I guess it is a fear of the unknown - if you talk to someone who doesn't like gay people you can almost guarantee that they don't know too many. These are the prejudices that you have to challenge and break down. Emma and I decided not to get legally married until our gay friends could do the same."

He's right you know.
Real Christians wouldn't have a problem with marriage equality, because they know that two men, or two women, marrying, doesn't affect their marriage.
it's just love.
And how is that suddenly unChristian?

Sally Kern, Oklahoma political asshat, telling Christian radio that The Gays might kill her:
"I have to be honest with you Rick, when I was sitting there in my car that day and when she told me that those emails were coming from homosexuals, honestly, fear gripped by whole body, because I was very aware of the homosexual lobbyists and the power that they have. And people say, ‘oh you’re so brave, so heroic,’ but I’m not, I’m just a sinner saved by grace and I was gripped with fear that day. I just said, ‘Lord, what have I done?’ It entered our mind but honestly, and I mentioned this in the book, the Saturday night when my husband and I sit down and really talked about this and prayed about it, when we asked ourselves the question, are we willing to even lose our lives over this?"

Oh, Sally.
The Gays don't want you dead, we want you enlightened.
Failing that we just want you to shut your bigoted homophobic yap and stop spreading lies.
Is that so wrong?

Mark Driscoll, "Pastor" of Seattle's Mars Hill Church, who says masturbation makes one a homosexual:
"Masturbation can be a form of homosexuality because it is a sexual act that does not involve a woman. If a man were to masturbate while engaged in other forms of sexual intimacy with his wife then he would not be doing so in a homosexual way. However, any man who does so without his wife in the room is bordering on homosexuality activity, particularly if he's watching himself in a mirror and being turned on by his own male body."

Good news!!!
Everybody's gay!!!
Pride is gonna be a blast next year!!

I Didn't Say It.........

Director Ron Howard, on keeping the "electric cars are gay" joke[?] in The Dilemma:
"So why was the joke in the movie? Our lead character of Ronny Valentine has a mouth that sometimes gets him into trouble and he definitely flirts with the line of what's okay to say. He tries to do what's right but sometimes falls short. Who can't relate to that?....The Dilemma is a story full of flawed characters whose lives are complicated by the things they say to and hide from each other. Ronny is far from perfect and he does and says some outrageous things along the way....I believe in sensitivity but not censorship. I feel that our film is taking additional heat as an emblem for many movies and TV shows that preceded it that have even more provocative characterizations and language. It is a slight moment in The Dilemma meant to demonstrate an aspect of our lead character's personality, and we never expected it to represent our intentions or the point of view of the movie or those of us who made it."
Nicely put, but. um, Ronnie, if this line gets a laugh, maybe the adults will see it as a character sayting the wrong thing, but a thriteen-year-old boy, or girl, may see it as a way to taunt and bully a kid at school, and that's what needs to be stopped.

GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios' response to Howard's decision to keep the joke in the film:
“At a time when so many in our country are speaking out against the bullying of gay youth, Universal was right to acknowledge the offensive nature of this 'joke' when it removed it from trailers. Unfortunately, by leaving it in the movie, they are now contributing to the problem. The conversations started as a result of the community’s response to this slur will help schools, media and parents understand the impact of the word ‘gay' being used as a pejorative. Hopefully in the future, Universal and Ron Howard will recognize the power of their words and use their films to bring people together rather than drive us apart."
Sticks and stones do break bones, but words used endlessly, over and over again, to deingrate or bully someone, can break a spirit, and perhaps end a life.

Betty White, on marriage equality:
"I don’t care who anybody sleeps with. If a couple has been together all that time - and there are gay relationships that are more solid than some heterosexual ones - I think it’s fine if they want to get married. I don’t know how people can get so anti-something. Mind your own business, take care of your affairs, and don’t worry about other people so much."
Yeah, what Betty said.
Mind your own beeswax.
I so want to gay marry her.

Cher, on her daughter Chastity becoming her son Chaz:
“If I woke up tomorrow in a guy’s body, I would just kick and scream and cry and fucking rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am—a girl. I would not take it as well as Chaz has. I couldn’t imagine it.” While Cher remains a proud mother, she admits to Smith that she still gets confused: “She’s a very smart girl—boy! This is where I get into trouble. My pronouns are fucked. I still don’t remember to call her ‘him.’”
People are giving Cher a hard time about this, but she had a daughter for a lot longer than she's had this son, and it takes time, and work and conscious effort. Sheesh, I hear people on talk shows referring to Cahz as her or Cahstity, and if they can't get it quick enough, imagine how hard it must be for the owman who gave birth to the 'her' that became a 'him'?

Iowa Asshat, and Congressman, Steve King, warning us that if "traditional" marriage is not saved, children will be raised in warehouses, so to speak:
“I think that if we can’t defend marriage, that it becomes very hard to defend life. Marriage is the crucible by which we pour all of our values and pass them on to our children, and that is how the culture is renewed each time. So, if we lose marriage--for instance, if our children are raised in warehouses, so to speak. There have been civilizations that have tried to do that. The Spartans did that. They took the children away and taught them to be warriors. It’s a good way to defend a country, but not much of a way to run a civilization. So, I’m afraid if that happened — if we lose the marriage, we lose the home, we lose the nuclear family then we can’t teach our values. We won’t be able to teach our faith. We won’t be able to teach life. We won’t be able to teach our Constitutional values either. That’s why I’m afraid it’s going to be very, very difficult to defend life.”
Every single time he opens his mouth it becomes a WTF moment.
Warehouses and warriros?
WTF? Seriously.

Ed Schultz, liberal radio talkshow host, on John Boehner's election night tears:
"Mr Boehner, do you think that there are any American families out there that are crying when they are told, after they get sick, that the insurance company is going to drop them? You see we passed a law in this country — you were not a part of it — that said that insurance companies can't do that and you want to repeal that. So do you think there's any tears with the middle class, Mr. Boehner? Or is it all about you all the time?"
Boehner doesn't care about the so-called people, he cares about his ass, his job, his election. If he cared, seriously cared, he wouldn't have spent the last 22 months saying No; he would have offered to help, or offered a soltuion, instead of standing in the way and doing nothing.

Robert Downey Jr., who says it was Robert Downey Jr. who changed Robert Downey Jr. and not prison:
"Jail didn't help me any more or less than anything else. But I know I created that experience for a reason, and I'm only just starting to understand those reasons. Remember this is California… 'Come on vacation, leave on probation.' I mean, I can't believe I stayed out of the pen for as long as I did. And I didn't mind it inside really; it wasn't so bad. Listen, a prison is just like a public school. Did you ever go on a film set on location? It's just like prison. Have you ever been in a bad relationship? It's just like having a celly (cellmate) who wants to kill you. Have you ever been in a street fight? It's just like chow-time (meal time). Have you ever been to a rave-up? It's like a yard riot. I wouldn't wish it on anybody, but it neither fazed me, nor changed me, nor informed me - but maybe it toughened me up a little bit."
Now, I loves me some RDJr, but what he's forgettiung is that one can walk away from a film set when they choose, they can walk out of a rave when they choose, they can walk away from a bad relationship when they choose.
But they cannot walk away from prison when they choose.
