Seriously ... How Many Perverts Are There In The GOP?

Yesterday I posted about the sixty-something year old Republican judge in Alabama who sent nude pictures of himself, along with sexually suggestive messages, to a woman who was not his wife of forty years — see post HERE. And I wondered then about Republicans and conservatives and religious zealots being all kinds of perverted and, well, this morning I’m still wondering …

The Republican mayor of Stockton, California, Anthony Silva, was arrested last week at his Stockton youth camp at Silver Lake on multiple charges including secretly recording a male teenager playing a game of strip poker at the summer camp.

Mayor Silva is charged with eavesdropping or recording confidential communications, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, providing alcohol to a minor and cruelty to a child by endangering his health.

The incidents leading to the Silva’s arrest occurred between August 5th and 9th, 2015 which begs the question … WHAT TOOK SO LONG? It took a year to gather the evidence? What? WHAT???

Well, actually Silva was arrested for being a pervert after a year-long FBI investigation that resulted from Silva’s cell phone being seized by Homeland Security at San Francisco International Airport as he got off a flight from China.

Yeah, it appears they were looking at the mayor for something else and found his stash of kiddie porn. And one of the clips on Silva’s phone contained audio of several people — including a 16-year-old boy — during a strip poker game in Mayor Silva’s bedroom; the audio revealed that the participants in the poker game did not want to be recorded; there was no video on the clip.

According to the Amador County district attorney, witnesses have come forward to say that Silva supplied alcohol to a number of underage counselors at the camp as well.

“He absolutely maintains his innocence, and he’s looking forward to his day in court and he absolutely believes he will be vindicated.” — Silva’s attorney Allen Sawyer

But, and ain’t there always a but, this isn’t the first time Silva has been accused of secretly filming teens. When he was a high school water polo coach in 2004, Silva was accused of secretly taping teens in the bathroom of his apartment; charges were never filed in that case.

In addition Mayor Silva is also facing legal trouble after a gun stolen from his rental home in 2015 was used in two crimes, including the murder of a 13-year-old boy. A gun-toting Republican pervert who serves alcohol to teenage boys while playing strip poker with them; yeah, he’s a winner, isn’t he?

And speaking of Republican perverts — which is kind of redundant — Richard "Scott" Silverthorne, the mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, has been arrested after he ALLEGEDLY gave methamphetamine to an undercover detective in exchange for a sexual encounter.

Police in late July received a tip that Silverthorne may have been trading meth for sex on a website used to arrange casual sexual encounters between men.

Oh wait, the Republican is a closeted, meth trading homosexual? It seems so, because after an undercover detective created a profile on the website, Silverthorne contacted him almost immediately and told the detective he could provide meth "in exchange for sexual encounters." He even promised to bring other men along with the drugs.

When  Silverthorne showed up at the Chain Bridge Road hotel — ironic, since he’ll probably end up on a chain gang — along with the meth, he was arrested and charged with felony distribution of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said they don't know how long Silverthorne was on the website—which they did identify—but they did say that Silverthorne had once been a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools before being “let go.”

Lovely … now, I am not saying that if you're a Republican, that automatically means you send nude pictures to women you don’t know, and I’m not saying that if you’re Republican you automatically get young boys drunk and record them playing strip poker in your bedroom at a youth camp, and I’m not saying that if you are a Republican that automatically means you trade drugs for sex with ransom men on the internet.

Cutting Off Your Nose To Spite Your Face, Pt 1: Stockton Cancels Easter Because ... The Gays

In Stockton, California, the city’s police Chaplain, Jim Reid was organizing Easter celebrations for the entire city. He’d invited churches from all over Stockton to join in on the celebration and that’s where the problem started.

See, Reid mistakenly invited the Valley Ministries, an LGBT-inclusive church, to the Easter Sunrise Service and was forced to rescind the invitation because “The Gay”:

“We are diametrically different in our view of scripture when it comes to homosexuality.”

The good news is that when the story came to light, Jim Reid was placed on leave by the Stockton Police Department; he was subsequently fired. The bad news is that when the head of the Stockton Leadership Foundation re-invited Valley Ministries, and its pastor, Reverend Terri Miller and her wife, to attend the organization suddenly cancelled the entire event.

Yup, Easter has been cancelled in Stockton because The Gays were coming.

Jim Reid, who remains on the board of the organization, says if Valley Ministries were allowed to take part, it would lead to “a media frenzy” and that the “transforming message [of Easter] will be overshadowed”:

“I felt it would defeat the purpose of having it. I didn’t think it would bring glory and honor to God. I was in favor of canceling.”

I guess for Jim Reid and his ilk, the best way to honor God is to treat some people as less than.

Naturally, Reverend Miller has a different take on Easter and Jesus and the Bible and says she was saddened by the decision:

“It’s just disheartening to me that here these folks claim to be Christians … and are squandering this opportunity because of some perceived differences instead of uniting under the banner of what this day is supposed to mean. This is based on fear and not on grace and love. It’d be great if we could have truly a citywide Easter service where, when you use the label citywide, it should mean everybody.”

You’d think it would mean everyone but I guess, in Stockton, at least for some people, citywide doesn’t mean The Gays and Easter is cancelled.
