Homos To The Rescue

Leave it to a couple of 'mos.

We've all cursed BP over the D-I-saster in the Gulf of Mexico, and now Luke Montgomery is taking it to the next level with his Unf__k The Gulf campaign.

Montgomery, a longtime gay activist, and founder of Good Ideas for Good Causes [HERE], recently launched his latest charity campaign, this time focused on the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history.

“The inception of it was my boyfriend Nate [Guidas] and I were sitting in front of the television screaming 'fuck' every 20 seconds about something that BP was doing, about seeing birds covered in oil. And we knew there were other people screaming 'fuck' at the television 24/7. So let’s take all of this anger and harness it and do something good with it.”

UnF—k the Gulf's fundraising efforts center on T-shirt sales [order them HERE....mine is on the way] and for every $13 shirt sold, $5 is donated to environmental organizations, most of which are actively working in the Gulf.

The abundance of expletives in the duo’s viral video—and particularly the use of children to deliver some of them—has already caught the ire of Bill O’Reilly, who devoted a recent segment on his Fox News show condemning Montgomery for using kids in a F bomb-laden ad. Montgomery’s response?

“It’s patriotic to use the F-word in defense of our shorelines.”

BP Republicans

When the oil spill began in the Gulf, many people, including President Obama, wanted to hold BP accountable.
These Republicans quickly leapt to the defense.....of BP.

Ladies and Gentle-Ladies, your The BP Republicans:

Congressman Joe Barton, the top Republican-BP on the committee overseeing the oil spill and its aftermath, delivered a personal apology to BP, saying the $20 billion fund that President Obama directed BP to establish to provide relief to the victims of the oil disaster was a "tragedy in the first proportion."

As criticism mounted in the wake of Joe Barton's apology to BP, R-BP Representative Steve King came to his defense. "I think Joe Barton was spot-on," King said on the conservative Laura Ingraham radio show.

Kentucky's R-BP Senate candidate Rand Paul leaped to the defense of BP, calling President Obama's efforts to hold the British company accountable for the Gulf Coast oil spill "un-American."

On a conservative radio show, Sharron Angle — the GOP-R-BP nominee for Senate in Nevada — called the Gulf oil spill victims' relief program a "slush fund." When a caller suggested the BP payout was extortion, she agreed, saying, "Government shouldn't be doing that to a private company." Her solution to the energy crisis is to "deregulate" the oil industry.

Representative Michele Bachmann [R-BP Minnesota] defended BP, criticizing the Gulf Coast oil spill fund — designed to aid spill victims — as a "redistribution of wealth."

THIS Is YOUR Republican Party

Apologizing to Big Oil for the treatment they've received after the oil spill in the Gulf.
Shameful.
Shameless.

Brava Miss G! Brava!

Blatantly stolen from The Fabulous Blog of Miss Ginger Grant. Stop in and voice your support, and give Miss G the props she deserves for keeping this subject out there. Along with the groups she mentions, i'd like to suggest the World Wildlife Fund as well.

"How Can I Help?" "Several readers have commented that they would like to help with the Gulf Oil Spill. The best way we can all help right now is to support the non-profit organizations that are out there protecting wildlife and helping to hold BP accountable for the damage they have done to the wetlands. While BP SHOULD pay for every penny of the damage, we know they will not, and the birds and wildlife don't have time to stand in line at a "claim center" waiting to be "bought out" in an attempt to avoid future lawsuits. Luckily, there are 2 organizations out there that have the interests of the wildlife at heart, and Miss Ginger knows them both to be reputable, well-run organizations.

The first is the Audubon Society, a long-standing organization dedicated to preserving the wildlife depicted in the works of nature artist John James Audubon. If there were ever a group of people who know about the birds of Louisiana, it's Audubon!

Another great group is The Nature Conservancy, whose name sort of says it all. Long before the spill they were actively working to protect Louisiana's wetlands from damage and neglect, so you can bet they are hard at work today doing everything they can to minimize the impact of this disaster on the natural habitat in the marshes and bayous!

I'm sure there are many other great organizations out there, but Miss G knows of these personally and knows them to be venerable and trustworthy. Please support them as your heart sees fit! And if anyone knows of any other groups, drop Miss G a line and she will check them out!"
