The Will Of The People

You may remember that I wrote about Bill Brady last week [HERE]. He's the Asshated Wingnutted Repugnant Republican moron running for Governor of Illinois. He had sponsored a bill that would re-legalize mass euthanasia of dogs and cats by gas chambers, but then removed his name from it so he might get more votes.

He also authored a bill that would allow discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the state, and took his name off that one so he could get more votes.

Well, Brady's anti-gay bill is dead, thanks to the efforts of Equality Illinois. The bill sought to allow certain tax-exempt organizations to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and religion; in fact, the bill never made it out of a Senate Judiciary committee.

Equality Illinois CEO Bernard Cherkasov announced that thousands of Illinoisans--Illinoisans, really?--called or emailed their state legislators to voice their opposition to the bill. It was the people, who saw what Brady was trying to do, that stopped him, and let's hope those same people, and many, many more keep this "politics as usual, lying Republican" out of office.

Nicely done, Illinoisans.

Illinoisans?
