Asshat Of The Week

It's spring and the wingnuts are out in force.

One such asshat is Congressman Louie Gohmert, a republican asshat from the state of asshats, Texas, who worked a Tea Party crowd into a frenzy yesterday by stating that the capital has been invaded by "demons." His word.

Demons. Who have forced lawmakers to mislead the public about the content of the health care bill.

"Well it would take a demon to be this dishonest about a bill," he told the Huffington Post. "If they would just read the bill, they would see what they are saying is dishonest."
Of course, when asked to explain himself, he did the Texas side-step, and tried to distance himself from using the word demons and the possibility that Democrats were possessed.

"Well," he muttered, "somebody is making people be dishonest and it is a play on words, too."

Moments earlier, he worked the crowd by insisting that the bill the House was set to consider would appropriate $700 million for abortions--though the Hyde Amendment prohibits federal money going to such a procedure. "I brought an abortion to show you today," he said, hosting a copy of the health care bill in his hand.

The crowd responded with a chant of "Abort the bill!"

And that's when the, ahem, devil took over and Gohmert began spreading the word that underworld spirits were lurking around the Capitol building behind him. "There's a whole lot of demon going on," he said. "There are a lot of demons around here apparently."

For the record, the second highest group of contributors to Louie Gohmert's election fund is the "Health" industry.
