I Didn't Say It........

Steve Litzow, Washington state Republican Senator, on his support for marriage equality in the state:
"I am a traditional Republican. When you think about gay marriage, it's the right thing to do and it's very consistent with the tenets of being a Republican — such as individual freedom and personal responsibility."

Was is it with Washington state politicians and their complete and utter understanding of equality and separate but equal.
Seriously, we need to clone these people and have them elected around the country.

Jon Huntsman, on a huuuuge difference between himself and Mittsy:
“It’s become abundantly clear over the last couple of days what differentiates Governor Romney and me. I will always put my country first. It seems that Governor Romney believes in putting politics first. Governor Romney enjoys firing people; I enjoy creating jobs. It may be that he’s slightly out of touch with the economic reality playing out in America right now, and that’s a dangerous place to be.”

This comes on the heels of Romney blasting Huntsman for praising Obama after Obama made Huntsman ambassador to China.
What it says to me, is that Romney truly believes that if you are a Republican, you can not, should not, will not, work with, praise, or admire a Democrat.
Yeah, that's presidential.
Smug smarmy bastard.

Michelangelo Signorile, on Rick Santorum's former chief of staff, who defended his old boss:
"Why [Robert] Traynham, as a gay man, was ever working for Rick Santorum is of course a question we ask all the time about gay conservatives who publicly support the very politicians who would strip them of their rights. Santorum attempted to turn Traynham into a victim in the way that Dick Cheney claimed his lesbian daughter Mary was under attack for supporting an administration that pushed a federal marriage amendment. Traynham now seems to be returning the favor, going public even though he's previously tried to hide any association with Santorum. But he and the campaign must be smoking something pretty powerful if they think people are going to buy it."

I don't get people like Traynham.
Is the paycheck so important that you sell your soul for it. I mean, think about it, you're a gay man working for a man who compare homosexuality to bestiality, and you stay employed.
Signorile is right, I ain't buying it.

Tony Perkins, Family Research Council president, on how the religious right supports any candidate who is not Romney:
"There are some conservatives that have committed their support to Newt Gingrich; there are some that continue to stand with Rick Perry because he's got a good record and he's a likable guy -- he just hasn't done well. But increasingly, more and more are looking at Rick Santorum as the most viable candidate."

Rick Perry is ambiguously gay, at best, and a flaming homo at, well, worst for Rick Perry and the GOP. The FRC wouldn't support that.
So, they move to Frothy Mix, because he hates gays, and abortion, and Black people.
Yup, that's their canduidate of choice.

Maggie Gallagher, NOM's hell hound, on Rick "Frothy Mix" Santorum:
"When the guy who has taken more hits than any other for standing up for life and marriage fights his way with nobody's help from nowhere to, well, Tuesday night--you have to cheer. The left, which thought it had buried Santorum years ago, is going to go after him with a hatred unlike anyone else has yet generated in this race. They hate him with that special ire reserved for his virtues, not his vices. They will go after him not just to defeat him, but to smear his good name, to associate it with their own muck, to take a decent and honorable man and try literally to make his name mean mud. They will not succeed."

Maggie. We did bury him years ago.
And we'll keep him buried.
Rick Santorum getting the NOM, pardon the pun, is about as likely as you beating Carrie Prejean in a beauty contest.
Ain't happenin'.

Judy Manning, a Republican Georgia state representative, is supporting Newt Gingrich because Mitt Romney is a Mormon:
“I think Mitt Romney is a nice man, but I’m afraid of his Mormon faith....It’s better than a Muslim. Of course, every time you look at the TV these days you find an ad on there telling us how normal they are. So why do they have to put ads on the TV just to convince us that they’re normal if they are normal?”

Further proof, as if we needed it, that one doesn't need more than a third grade education, at the hands of hillbilly parents and evangelical nutjobs, to be elected to public office in Georgia.

Maureen Dowd, on the GOP candidates:
"Santorum thinks he’s a bold color and Romney’s a pastel. But the whole Republican field seems ensconced in a black-and-white ’50s diorama. It’s like they’re running for president of Leave It to Beaverland."

Mittsy and Frothy.
So, so out of touch.
Romney, because he can't make up his mind from day to day, and Frothy because he's as dumb as a box of GOP candidates.

Ben LaBolt, Obama campaign spokesperson, on the Mittsy Romney flier-flip-flop:
“After Mitt Romney claimed he’d be a stronger advocate for gay rights than Senator Kennedy when he was running for office in Massachusetts, and one day after saying that gays should have ‘full rights,’ Romney’s campaign today disavowed a flier that simply said ‘all citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of their sexual preference.' What on that flier does Mitt Romney disagree with?  Does he not believe all Americans should have equal rights? Who is he trying to pander to now? This is why Americans will have trouble trusting Mitt Romney--he doesn’t keep his word.”

Now, I think he keeps his word, it's just that his word changes depending on whatever office he's running for, because, let's face it, he's a professional campaigner who's spent that last ten years or more of his lifer running for office, and doing very little else, except buying up companies and then firing thousands.

Newt Gingrich, lying about how the Catholic charities were forced to close in Washington D.C. because of marriage equality laws:
"No, that’s not true. That’s not true. There are states now, including the District of Columbia, which essentially adopt laws that say you can’t offer an adoption service unless you meet the secular standards of the state. They are in effect saying the secular standards of the state are more important than religious freedom. I think it is inherently anti-Christian and anti-Jewish. It is in favor of a secular model, that I think is wrong. And I think that it’s wrong for the government to impose its values on religion."

No, Newt. You can huff and puff and blow the current Missus Gingrich down, but you cannot lie like that.
Catholic Charities were given federal funds to run their adoption agencies and foster care programs. When it became legal for gay couples, and gay singles to adopt, the Catholic Charities chose to disobey the law.
They can't do that and ask for federal funds.
It's simple, you fat fucking adulterer.

Brett Chamberlin, a straight 20-year-old college student, who led the chanting of 'bigot' against Rick Santorum:
“When he says that you can use the government to justify the overwhelming morality of America--which is not true because an overwhelming majority of people do support gay marriage--well then where does the government interruption stop? Can they come into your house or tell you you can’t cut your sideburns or wear mixed-fabric clothing, which are also commandants that appear side-by-side with the anti-gay comments in Leviticus. So, it’s not founded in logic; it’s not founded in a knowledge of history or a knowledge of American civics.”

Nicely put. But you won't reach Santorum with logic., He picks and chooses the Bible verses that support his bigotry and homophobia.

Cheryl Pflug, the second Republican state Senator from Washington, on her support of the state's marriage equality bill:
"I have been a longtime supporter of human equality. I do not feel diminished by having another human being experience the same freedom I am entitled to exercise. I would feel diminished by denying another human the ability to exercise those same rights and freedoms."

GOP say what?
Another Republican comes out for marriage equality because it's the right thing to do?
Carlos? Get my bags, we're moving west!

Taylor, a 14-year-old Girl Scout, calling for a boycott of Girl Scout Cookies because the organization welcomes transgender children:
“The real question is, why is GSUSA willing to break their own safety rules and go against its own research institute findings to accommodate transgender boys? Unfortunately, I think it is because GSUSA cares more about promoting the desires of a small handful of people than it does for my safety and the safety of my friends and sister Girl Scouts, and they are doing it with money we earned for them from Girl Scout cookies.”

Oh, Taylor, how sweet of you to read your parent's prepared statement.
How sweet of your parents to use their child in such a despicable manner, because, tell me, Taylor's parents, how does having a transgendered child affect the safety of your automaton daughter?
Oh yeah, it doesn't.
Bigots Raising Bigots. Next Maury.

  6. Dammit! Why can't I write things like "Further proof, as if we needed it, that one doesn't need more than a third grade education, at the hands of hillbilly parents and evangelical nutjobs, to be elected to public office in Georgia."?!?!
