So, there's this Canadian politico, Nova Scotia MP Scott Brison, who sent out his yearly Christmas card and it created such a stir up there. Seems that Brison's card was a picture of the openly gay man with his husband of two years--oh yeah, gay marriage? Totally legal in Canada--Maxime St. Pierre, and their dog Simba, standing in a hilltop meadow, and people were offended by it.
They took to calling it Brokeback Brison. And once it was posted online the website was so overloaded with homophobic rants that the picture was taken down. I mean, come on, a couple of gay guys....Christmas......I'm thinking bows tied to body parts and big shiny balls......Judy Garland and specifically placed Santa hats.
But that's my holiday card.
This is the Brison-St. Pierre card:
Ooooooooh so gay!
Merry Christmas, fellas.
LOL! People need to get a grip. Loves the dog - taking this picture thing very seriously.
ReplyDeleteThis breaks my heart for them. What a lovely photo. What's wrong with people? Grrrr!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an LL Bean catalogue pic to me
ReplyDeleteIt's shocking, right?
ReplyDeleteI mean, the NOIVE!
Yes, the newspaper's (The Globe & Mail) website got flooded with homophobic remarks. The editor removed the whole post, scolding the evil hatemongers for their nasty comments.
Meanwhile, the outpouring of support to Brison's office is amazing.
Personally, I think the marriage equality struggle in the US has contributed to a rise in homophobia and hate crimes in Canada. But I'm no statistician.
I say we apply the Clockwork Orange treatment to all the homophobes.
ReplyDeleteFairly easy to identify them isn't it?
OMG, that is SO filthy, disgusting, immoral, and GAY!!!
ReplyDeleteJeez. People really need to lighten up.
