A Regular Family, Please

From across the pond comes the tale of a Catholic woman whose son was placed with a gay foster couple after she was unable to look after him. She has opted to take legal action because she believes her son will "encouraged" into a lifestyle which is against her beliefs.

The Brighton woman, who cannot be named, suffered a mental breakdown a year ago, allegedly as a result of an abusive marriage. Her son has been in care for months but is due to begin living in permanent placement with a male couple at a hotel they run.

The woman is being represented by the Thomas More Legal Centre, a Catholic legal charity, and it's director, Neil Addison, is "advising her on her legal options and seeking to resolve the matter with the council by agreement." Her priest weighs in, by saying, "This isn’t about a gay couple in a private home, this is about a gay couple running a hotel where they also live, where they cannot restrict who the child is going to meet. That’s my anxiety."

So, it's not because they're gay, it's because they run a hotel?

Now, on top of everything else we have to deal with hotel-ophobia?

The woman, through a friend, says she just wants her son raised in a "regular family atmosphere, by a man and a woman."

Like the man who reportedly beat his wife and she had a breakdown? That kind of regular family?

  1. I get so tired of this argument! Listen up people! Almost, if not all of us homo's currently out here were raised by you fucking hetero's.

    I can't keep up!

Like I've said before the Lost Boys all started out in the union of one man and one woman - guarantees NOTHING.

  3. People who can't manage to do their jobs have a right to decide who does it for them? I applaud the social service that approved the gay couple as foster parents in the first place...don't want to forget them either.
