The GOP, knowing that they are losing constituents left and right down here in South Carolina, began a concerted effort to woo the African-American voters into their flock, knowing that minorities have, for decades, wanted nothing to do with the GOP. And I suppose you're wondering why I tell you this, so, here goes:
This past Sunday longtime Republican activist Rusty DePass, member of the GOP, posted a racist joke on his Facebook page about First Lady Michelle Obama.
See, over the weekend, a gorilla escaped from the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, and according to the New York Daily News, DePass just couldn't resist what he saw as the perfect opportunity for humor, updating his status message to read:
"I'm sure it's just one of Michelle's ancestors - probably harmless."
Now, this a man who is in the public eye, working with a specific political party which is today in shreds, and trying to woo minority voters to join him, but can't seem to shy away from making racists jokes and posting them on the web, where we all know, no one will ever see them.
This is the GOP of today. They say one thing to your face and then post something different on Facebook. And then, to make matters worse, he offers what, to him, amounts to an apology, when speaking to a local news station in Columbia:
"I am as sorry as I can be if I offended anyone. The comment was clearly in jest."
I'm sorry if I offended anyone. But he isn't really sorry because then he blames Michelle Obama for what he said. DePass says, "[t]he comment was hers, not mine," and claims that Michelle Obama made a recent remark about humans descending from apes, though no one has been able to find such a statement made by the First lady.
I have a Theory of Evolution: The GOP is evolving. Into nothingness.
Well, many of the GOF believe the only evolution the world has seen is how all the bad has evolved from the DEMs.
ReplyDeleteWhat is WRONG with this fellow? And the rest of them who can't resist displaying their wit?
ReplyDeleteYes, wasn't that lovely? Pftthhhh.
ReplyDeleteThis shit amazes me. Why is this not in the headlines instead of the Palin/Letterman joke?
