A Tale Of Two Quotes

BP Chairman, Carl-Henric Svanberg, after speaking to President Obama, and creating a $20 billion escrow fund to pay claims to Gulf Coast residents and business owners:
“[President Obama's] frustrated because he cares about the small people, and we care about the small people. I hear comments that sometimes large oil companies are greedy companies that don’t care. But that is not the case with BP. We care about the small people."

Guess what, Carl?
I am one of the little people, and I know that all companies like BP care about is money and profit margins. How else do you explain not having the proper resources to prevent such a disaster beforehand, or the proper resources to deal with such a disasters after?
Asshat.
Why, oh, why, don't the bigwigs at BP learn to shut up?

This just pisses me off ....

....on the other hand........

....this makes me giggle.....

Maggie Gallagher, speaking from the Prop H8 trial in California:

"Chuck Cooper is a heckuva lawyer. At stake in this case is the future of marriage in all 50 states, and he's right that this attempt to shut down the debate by constitutionalizing gay marriage will backfire. Americans have a right to vote for marriage. Ted Olson doesn't seem to understand the argument, and judging from today's exchanges neither does Judge Walker. I expect Judge Walker will overrule Prop 8. But millions of Americans do understand why marriage is the union of husband and wife and I believe the majority of the Supreme Court will as well."

The old girl sure sounds defeated, doesn't she?

Because y'are, Blanche, because y'are!

1 comment:

  1. WHY did BP hire a PR firm for $50 million and let the chairman utter a single word that they didn't vet?

"Americans have a right to vote for marriage."
No. No, you don't! You have no right to impose your religious views on the rest of us. Just turn it around. Muslims move in by the thousands and they vote you, Maggie, into a burka...
