This Man Wants To Be President: Marco Rubio and "God's Plan"

Now, to be fair, I’ve never run for President, but I’m pretty sure that if I did, I’d try to stay away from saying things like how people can ignore the laws, set forth by the Supreme Court, because God overrules the Supremes.

Yeah, I know the crazies will froth at the mouth hearing that, but the majority of voters aren’t crazy so they’d hear that and think you’re a loon … Marco Rubio.

Yes, Rubio said that; he said God’s laws are the ones we should obey, specifically in reference to ending Roe v Wade and that tired marriage equality ruling. But that wasn’t the craziest thing Rubio has said of late.

In a recent interview with, what else, the Christian Post, the Senator who hasn’t shown up to the Senate in months because he’s tired of that job, said ISIS and Al Queda are just part of God’s “broader plan,” He thne relayed a story of the time he was asked, “Where was God on 9/11? Where was God in Paris?”

And his answer:
“I said, ‘where God always is — on the throne in Heaven.’ The question was how could God allow these bad things to happen? It always challenges us to understand that God’s ways are not our ways. What we may interpret as bad, and most certainly is in the case of Paris or 9/11, even that is part of a broader plan for the universe and for our lives that we are just not going to know the answer to. God’s ways are not our ways.”
Um, okay, so if terrorism is just part of God’s plan — and please to explain why God wanted over 3,000 Americans murdered on 9/11 — then why are we fighting? If this is Good’s plan shouldn’t we just let things happen? If terrorism is part of God’s plan why are the Republicans so interested in waging war. Let God handle it is that’s what She wants.

Oh, and before I go, Marco Rubio also said this recently, and it is just as crazy:
“I obviously am not happy about the events that happened last week in Paris, but I think it’s a positive development that it suddenly has forced Americans to confront more carefully the issue of national security, because it is the most important thing a president will do, and it’s the most important function of the federal government.”
And then he added that these terror attacks could lead to a “political advantage” for Republicans because “the world has become a very dangerous place.”

Yes, he said terrorism is good for the GOP. Of course, we’ve seen that in their goose-stepping adoration and support of the NRA but still … Terrorism is good for the GOP.

And they say Muslims are terrorists.

  2. Terrorism is good for the GOP because so many of us vote our fears, not our dreams. This is not only true in elections, of course, because so many of us make life decisions based on fears of what terrible things might happen instead of based on dreams of what amazing things could happen.

I myself will consistently choose the same boring item on a familiar menu, even though it doesn't satisfy me, rather than try something new and different.

I have so much to learn about living life to the full, and at 65, not that much time left to learn it.

  6. Remember the days when you never knew WHAT religious affiliation a presidental candidate belonged to? Except,of course, Kennedy because he was a Catholic. I miss those days. Now we have a bunch of right wing morons who all believe they went to school with God.

  7. I'm still amazed at how many of these pissant GOP Candidates know what God wants...or doesn't want.

the dog's mother said it for me, above "...2016 is going to be a loooong year!"

  8. Why is Rubio still paid as a Senator if he can't be bothered to go to work? If I don't go to work for weeks on end without a medical certificate my employers fire me; end of story.
