Well, shoot, missed out on this advice with our boys (23 & 19). Raising twins we figured out right from the beginning that we were dealing with individuals so we knew that there were some things we had no control over. Daughter would sit in her car seat and sing and talk to her fingers. Eldest would vocalize 'get me out of the *#*&@#$(!!! car seat, NOW!'
