After listening to Susan Boyle from Britain's Got Talent--and feeling my heart swell each time she sang--I remembered hearing New Zealand's own, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, sing a few years back on a PBS special celebrating the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. So, a quick Google and YouTube later, I found the song.
The music is just so beautiful, and the song also brings a tear to my eye.....okay tears to my eyes...as it builds and builds.
I remember that Andrew Lloyd Webber special on PBS - it was phenomenal. And this is definitely one of the high points.

Wasn't it though?
ReplyDeleteHer voice gives me chills.

Damn, I've cried so much in the last few days, first "Australia" with Nicole, then Susan, now this. Thanks for sharing beautiful
ReplyDeleteI love that special and have it on video tape - I watch Glenn Close's Sunset Boulevard songs over and over and over and over...
ReplyDeleteAnd I laugh at little Antonio and his high heel boots - just because he's so tiny.
I didn't know aabout this diva...and I loves me a good coloratura. This is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMissed this post earlier somehow Bob. Yes Ms Kiri is definately one of our icons and in my humble opinion it actualy makes her more interesting that she's a real b*tch! We're fairly self deprecating down here at the arse end of the world and the stories we hear about her diva behaviour are embarrassing to us though.
