My goodness, you take a day off to make a nice din-din for the Mister and all sorts of things happen around the world. I guess I'll be blogging for a good long spell today.
Carlos had a nice birthday...which was good because he had a horrendous day at work, with crazy people and bureaucracy and crazy people. So, when he came home, he was ready to crawl into bed and call it a day. But I surprised him with a candlelight dinner of Roast Pork Loin with Red Pepper Pesto, Grilled Asparagus with Slivered Almonds, shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano and Balsamic Reduction, Roasted Garlic and Corn Mashed Potatoes, a lovely bottle of Chalone Pinot Noir, and an Almond Cheesecake.
Yes, I made it all! And it was damn good....although the cheesecake could use a little tweak here and there--it was my first attempt at cheesecake! I've said it before: Carlos is the MasterBaker in our house, but I couldn't ask him to make his own cake. Could I?
He opened his giftages and we had a lovely evening afterwards. He was able to relax and put away the madness of the day, so it was wonderful and sweet and nice. Now, being the raging queen that he is, his birthday celebration isn't a one day event; no, we'll be celebrating with friends at dinner on Saturday night!
It's a birthday week around our house!
It sounds like a perfect evening, and dinner sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteHAppy Birthday Yesterday Carlos!!!
ReplyDeleteand damn that dinner sounds good! Do you cater, by any chance? ;)
Sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never I suppose. Just remember if you're making a cheesecake, it's technically a custard not a cake. It worked for me anyway. :P
ReplyDeleteThanks for your blog, I must admit I was very happy to stumble upon it.
Happy Passover/Easter everyone.
