Sometimes Even Democrats Are Repugnant

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told the Bay Area Reporter Wednesday, that repealing the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is not a top priority of hers right now.

Thanks Nancy. I appreciate the idea that you don't think ending discrimination of Americans by Americans to be that important.

Oh, she does go on to say that her two legislative priorities of interest to the LGBT community are passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) and the federal hate crimes bill. Nancy will work on these two projects before she decides to tackle DOMA, which prohibits federal recognition of same-sex relationships and allows states that do not provide equal rights to gay couples the ability to ignore such marriages granted in other states.

But, you know, Nancy, I was thinking, why must we wait? Are there too many things on your plate right now,and equality is a side-dish you didn't order? See, Nancy, as a Gay American or an American who is Gay, I think we're well past due on the whole equality for all Americans thing, and I think that when speak out about how equality must wait, you are doing so with both feet in your mouth.

Shame on you.

Without equality, Nancy, you wouldn't be the first female Speaker of the House, the first Italian-American Speaker of the House, a freely elected government official. Without equality, Nancy, you would be just another housewife, sitting home, knitting, baking and generally staying in your place.

I don't think for a moment if someone told you to wait for equality that you'd sit idly by and do as you were told, and I won't either Nancy.

Shame on you.

  3. Amen Bob! Her attitude seems to be that as long as they throw the homos a bone now and again, they should be happy. We need to get noisy.
