ISBL Asshat of the Week: 30% of Republicans

If you didn’t think Republicans were dumb before, you might wanna have a little rethink.

A recent poll shows that 32% of Republicans believe, actually believe, that the federal government is trying to take over the state of Texas.

And all this is based on a conspiracy theory that suggests, among other things, that FEMA detention camps will be set up in recently shuttered Wal-Mart’s to lock away any "patriots" that try to stand in America’s, well, to be fair, these are Republicans, Obama’s, way. And there is a belief among a third of the GOP voters that tunnels under the Wal-Mart will help ISIS cross the border … or that troops will be staged in tunnels under Wal-Mart.

It’s basically this: Obama and Wal-Mart are cooperating to hand Texas over to ISIS or the feds.

And that 30% will be voting for the next Republican presidential candidate.

The GOP … or at least a third … The ISBL Asshat of the Week.

  1. You know, with the tragic weather Texas is having this week, they may no longer be seen as such a good deal.

  3. As pathetic as this is, I just wish it was a little more surprising.

  4. Why would anyone want to "take over" Texas? I think we should try to get Mexico to take it back.

  7. Like A.M. above, and Dog's mother, I've been wondering if through the floods (on our news here a lot) 'God' is showing his anger at Texans for being, well, Texan. Sounds logical to me - at least as good as any other theories that they can come up with.

If Republicans are so prone to believe such twaddle as this Wal-mart story then, taken in context that they'll also probably believe that the earth is less than ten thousand years old, well, it all fits together into a coherent picture of idiocy. So, one has to admire their consistency.

  8. Even over here in the land of the unfree we know that Texans are loopy more often than not. Does that have anything to do with the fact that they are also rednecks or is that just coincidence?
