Running for political office is a game; an ass-kissing, baby-cuddling, hand-shaking, photo op game. And it’s a balancing act of trying not to offend one group while catering to another, which leads us to one Dr. Ben Carson and why he will never be president …
He hates The Gays. And so I cannot imagine an LGBT person voting for him; I cannot imagine an LGBT-ally voting for him; I cannot imagine anyone with a rational mind putting a check next to his name on election day, and here’s why:
1. Dr. Ben Carson thinks being gay is a choice:
It was just last month that Carson promised to stop talking about LGBT issues—which shows you what he thinks of us—after a ridiculous interview with Chris Cuomo interview where he stated that it was possible to prove being gay is a choice because some people are gay when they get out of prison:
"Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight — and when they come out, they're gay. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question."
2. Dr. Ben Carson opposes bans on so-called reparative therapies:
He calls the LGBT community the “flavor of the day" and does not support bans on "conversion therapy" saying the issue "should be left to therapists and to individuals."
It makes sense because he thinks people can be turned gay, or choose to be gay.
3. Dr. Ben Carson supports those Religious Freedom Restoration Acts that are nothing but cover-ups for legalized LGBT discrimination:
Carson is firmly in support of various anti-gay "religious freedom" bills being pushed around the country:
"It is absolutely vital that we do all we can to allow Americans to practice their religious ways, while simultaneously ensuring that no one's beliefs infringe upon those of others. We should also serve as champions of freedom of religion throughout the world."
Funny though, that when your religious freedoms stop me from being treated equally that’s okay as long as it happens to LGBT Americans.
4. Dr. Ben Carson joked about Christians harming The Gays:
In January, when discussing the "religious liberty" issue, Carson suggested that gays might want to buy their cakes from a non-Christian baker, lest they be poisoned:
"What I have a problem with is when people try to force people to act against their beliefs because they say 'they're discriminating against me.' So they can go right down the street and buy a cake, but no, let's bring a suit against this person because I want them to make my cake even though they don't believe in it. Which is really not all that smart because they might put poison in that cake."
Freedom of Speech, yes, but also an incredibly stupid thing for a person to say.
5. Dr. Ben Carson supports the removal of pro-equality judges and supports judicial efforts to obstruct LGBT rights:
He defended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore's efforts to obstruct the implementation of marriage equality in Alabama against the orders of a federal court, saying “Moore understands the importance of preserving states’ rights in the modern post-Civil War world in which we live."
So, his stance is that if a judge is pro-equality he must be removed from the bench, but if a judge is anti-equality then he’s worth keeping.
That alone should be enough to keep Ben Carson from every going to the White House as anything other than a tourist!
6. Dr. Ben Carson has compared The Gays to pedophiles and people who have sex with animals:
“Marriage is between a man and a woman. It’s a well-established pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality—it doesn’t matter what they are, they don’t get to change the definition.”
It’s that same old fear-mongering chestnut that has never been proven and yet someone with the supposed intellect and intelligence of Ben Carson still repeats it.
7. Dr. Ben Carson believes LGBT advocates are enemies of America:
Carson believes those activists are “hateful people” and “the enemies” of America because they “try to divide everybody up” and “incite people to anger and to hatred.”
But he isn’t riling people up, or dividing people, when he says The Gays wanna f**k dogs, or children?
8. Dr. Ben Carson opposes Marriage Equality because he says it will bring about the end of the world:
He calls same-sex marriage “a a finger in your eye to God” and a Marxist plot to impose a New World Order — a not-so-subtle way to compare The Gays to The Nazis.
As I said, it’s a game, and it’s a balancing act, but it’s quite queer—and that isn’t a mistake—that Dr. Ben Carson doesn’t want balance. He wants to keep our community down, to demonize our community, to keep us less than.
And ain’t nobody got time for that.
