This Man Wants To Be President: Ben Carson

Ben Carson wants to be President. And he believes that if the Jews had been armed there would have been no Holocaust. He also believes that the students in Umpqua, Oregon should have rushed that shooter and they would have been alive today. He believes that prison makes you gay and that Obamacare is akin to slavery.

Now, its abortion that is just like slavery because Ben Carson believes that a woman who chooses — because it is her right to choose — to have an abortion is no different than a slave owner who wants to kill his slave.

Wait. What?
"In the ideal situation, the mother should not believe that the baby is her enemy, and should not be looking to terminate the baby."
He does go on; he says that the pro-choice movement tells mothers that the fetus is an enemy that must be destroyed. And, while being interviewed by Chuck Todd about whether or not a woman with an unwanted pregnancy should be allowed to terminate it, Ben Carson said, “No.”
“Think about this. During slavery — and I know that’s one of those words you’re not supposed to say but I’m saying it — during slavery, a lot of slave owners thought they had the right to do whatever they wanted to that slave, anything that they chose. And what if the abolitionists had said, 'I don’t believe in slavery, I think it's wrong, but you guys do whatever you want to do'? Where would we be?”
A President Ben Carson would work to overturn Roe v. Wade. And, while he claims that if someone came up with a reasonable argument for abortion he’d listen to it, but before you suggest that a woman be allowed to have an abortion to save her own health or life, he says, “No.” He says any situation in which an abortion for that reason would be necessary is extremely rare and then he refused to say he would outlaw that outright.

And if you’re raped and end up pregnant, you would be forced by a President Ben Carson’s government to have your baby.

If you are a victim of incest and find yourself pregnant you would be forced to have that child.

You, as a woman, under a President Ben Carson, have no say so in your own healthcare choices.

None. Luckily for America, almost half of all Americans are pro-choice—with just 44% saying they are pro-life; and 88% of Americans say abortion should be legal when the mother's life is endangered, while 83% think it should be legal when her health is, and 83% think abortion should be legal in cases of rape or incest.

And as for “Doctor” Ben Carson’s claim that it is "extremely rare" that abortion is ever necessary to save the life or health of the mother, in 2012 the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists stated that "more than 600 women die each year from pregnancy and childbirth-related reasons."

I guess 600 dead women don’t matter to a President Ben Carson.

But that falls under ‘too bad” for a President Ben Carson. Think about that; about a President who would take away any choice you may have in your own healthcare, and compares to a slave-owner if you choose abortion.

  3. This jerk is the epitome of Peter's Principle in the flesh. Simply because one is adept at one thing, it doesn't necessarily follow that he, or she, would be good at something else. Unfortunately, in this case, his cockamamie ideas could do serious damage to this country.

  4. I don't think he understands that telling a woman what she can and cannot do is form of slavery. But to be honest, I don't think he knows what 'slavery' is or was.

  5. Ugh! Our discussion over coffee this morning was focused on the idiocy, hatefulness, and ignorance of Ben Carson (and the even more absurd fact that he has so many supporters). Deciding against Carson? It's not brain surgery!

  6. Women and men should have the right to make their own choices about their bodies and having a baby involves using a woman's body - she should have the right to decide whether she wants to carry the baby she is having to full-term. Or we end up in the dystopia imagined in Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale
