The Daily Hypocrite: Mike Huckabee Gets Schooled On His Biblical Hypocrisy

Mike Huckabee often says, and wrongly so, that we are a Christian nation, created by God, for God, with God’s laws, by God, and that’s what we’ll do … foot stomp … head snap.

He even said God would send a firestorm down on this country after that SCOTUS ruling last month, though he never said a word about why God didn’t destroy all those other countries where same-sex marriage is legal, but then Mike Huckster Huckabee probably thinks God only cares about America.

But this isn’t about that, it’s about Huckabee getting schooled on Biblical law at a town hall meeting in Anamosa, Iowa recently when a man — who identified himself as Rod Webber — asked a question of Huckabee:
“I’m not really a political person, but I have a bet with a friend. You’re a religious person, a Christian?”
“Absolutely, I’m a believer,” Huckabee replied.

Well, then Rod Webber began quoting from the Bible's Book of Proverbs, which says, “Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.”

Huckabee tried to do the GOP Sidestep by saying that everyone should help those less fortunate, but not pawn “that off on the government.”

Webber then quoted the Book of Revelations, saying that God commanded the righteous to “destroy those who destroy the Earth,” and quoted Jesus, who said, “You shall not kill; and whoever shall kill will be in danger of judgment.”

They went back and forth about killing and war and whether or not any death is justified, and while both men agreed that self-defense or death in a time of war was mostly justified, Huckabee GOP Side-stepped Webber’s questions about the thousands of civilian casualties that are often a result of war.

But the best part was when Webber, sporting a full beard, quoted the Book of Leviticus:
“You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard.”
Crickets. Side-stepping. But it was nice to see this hardcore Bible-thumper put in his place by not being able to explain why he follows the teachings of some of the Bible, but ignores the others. And best of all, was at the end, when Rod Webber concluded by saying …
“There’s more passages about shaving being a sin than there is about homosexuality.”
Yes there are, but folks like Huckabee only focus on the parts of the Bible that suit their bigotry and homophobia, as Huckabee probably did when later that day he sat down to his shrimp dinner, in his mixed textile suit, and then shaved his face … all of which are against the teachings of the Good Book.

  2. Thank goodness! - At last being challenged on the Bible by someone who KNOWS the Bible. (Like me, he says modestly). But will it make any difference to Mr H.? Well, I'd say there's less chance of that happening than on his prediction coming true about God manifesting her wrath on America. Unless he allows himself to 'see the light' he'll never admit that he could be wrong. Just imagine what that would do to his image!
