Just A Thought: That Wacky English Language

  1. This is what flummoxes dyslexic students. Their brains look for patterns which is why they are usually so good in math. (GB tested 6th grade in math while in k'garten).
Then they have to build different pathways to read which builds up their creativity, artistic abilities and out of the box thinking. If we could factor out the pain and bewilderment of schooling everyone should want to be dyslexic.

  2. No wonder people in other countries resent having to learn our language.

If only our rules of pronunciation were as simple as they are in Italian, and even Chinese has WAY simpler grammar.

  3. PS - I have to say that is is other countries that messed up our language. English borrowed so many words from around the word and then mangled them a bit to make them work. One thing that helps students is to do a section on the roots of the language - which words came from French, Spanish, Latin, Greek, German, etc. Lots of words make sense that way.
