Well, for starters:
Argentina has became the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage.
Lawmakers in the Senate passed the bill after 14 hours of debate that began Wednesday night and carried on in to this morning; the bill had already passed the lower chamber of Congress.
But now, in Argentina, LGBT people have equal marriage rights, including the ability to adopt children. And, even better, Argentinean President, Cristina Kirchner, has already said she will sign it.
Argentina becomes yet another Roman Catholic country--like the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain--where same-sex marriage is legal. Among them are the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
Take note, America.
We used to be the forerunner in the world.
Now, we stand on the sidelines as everyone else moves forward.
Always great to hear!! Now we need to catch up!
ReplyDeleteEurope train of thoughts have always been progressive. I've been there a few times (Germany, Holland, UK) and I find most people so open and unassuming! I like that!
