sharing …
I'm not pro-murdering babies.
I'm pro-Becky who found out at her 20-week anatomy scan that
the infant she had been so excited to bring into this world had developed
without life sustaining organs.
I'm pro-Susan who was sexually assaulted on her way home
from work, only to come to the horrific realization that her assailant planted
his seed in her when she got a positive pregnancy test result a month later.
I'm pro-Theresa who hemorrhaged due to a placental
abruption, causing her parents, spouse, and children to have to make the
impossible decision on whether to save her or her unborn child.
I'm pro-little Katie who had her innocence ripped away from
her by someone she should have been able to trust and her 11-year-old body
isn't mature enough to bear the consequence of that betrayal.
I'm pro-Melissa who's working two jobs just to make ends
meet and has to choose between bringing another child into poverty or feeding
the children she already has because her spouse walked out on her.
I'm pro-Brittany who realizes that she is in no way
financially, emotionally, or physically able to raise a child.
I'm pro-Emily who went through IVF, ending up with SIX
viable implanted eggs requiring selective reduction in order to ensure the
safety of her and a SAFE amount of fetuses.
I'm pro-Jennifer who is FINALLY getting the strength to get
away from her physically abusive spouse only to find out that she is carrying
the monster's child.
I'm pro-Victoria who went into her confirmation appointment
after YEARS of trying to conceive only to hear silence where there should be a
heartbeat.
I'm pro-Lindsay who lost her virginity in her sophomore year
with a broken condom and now has to choose whether to be a teenage mom or just
a teenager.
I'm pro-Courtney who just found out she's already 13 weeks
along, but the egg never made it out of her fallopian tube so either she
terminates the pregnancy or risks dying from internal bleeding.
You can argue and say that I'm pro-choice all you want, but
the truth is:
I'm pro-life.
Their lives.
Women's lives.
You don't get to pick and choose which scenarios should be
accepted.
It's not about which stories you don't agree with. It's
about fighting for the women in the stories that you do agree with and the
CHOICE that was made.
Women's rights are meant to protect ALL women, regardless of
their situation! |
Back in the day, when I worked as
ReplyDeleteeducation director for the organization
with the initials PP - our area of
100k+ people had no facilities at
all for this procedure. A doctor
would come once a week from Seattle
to a tiny farm town about 45 minutes
from us to do them.
xoxo :-)
Yup, just like I said in my last comment -- Gilead.
ReplyDeleteRemember, for most Conservatives it's not about the babies, it's totally about being able to tell women what to do.
ReplyDeleteI know firsthand what women go through to terminate a pregnancy. I recall one story of a staff member of mine who was so excited, as well as her husband, of their first bundle of joy coming down the road. The staff shared in her joy. Then the bad news. She asked to speak to me in private. I could tell something was amiss. The staff member told me that as per routine testing was done and an anomaly was discovered that would result in a difficult life for the child down the road. The physician suggested terminating the pregnancy or moving forward knowing what the future held. I gave her the rest of the day off. Afew days later she came to me again and said she and her husband decided to terminate the pregnancy. She asked for a big favor. Knowing her teammates like we did some would have objections to her terminating the pregnancy. She did not want to deal with that. She asked if I could tell the staff that she lost the child-miscarried-that it was difficult for her, and that she would appreciate her privacy. She did not want to engage with the staff on this matter. I said yes. Just tell me when. I did my part and made the announcement and asked staff not to engage with her since this was a difficult time for but the staff member thanked everyone for their support. Things went off without a hitch.
ReplyDeleteI went on a tirade here, but decided I can’t. I just can’t. You said it all.
ReplyDeleteAs a woman I say thank you for your support Bob - I cannot imagine that the Repugnants try and stop men having vasectomies or using condoms, but they sure as hell like to browbeat women and take control of their bodies. My body is my body and I alone should make the decisions pertaining to it....and that goes for all the women in the world, all the Victorias, all the Katies, all the Jennifers and all those who need or want an abortion and control over themselves.
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely pro a woman's right to make a decision about her own body regardless of how she got to that point. That is irrelevant, in my mind. I mean, certainly the cases you make are clearcut, but so is the woman's who simply got pregnant by her boyfriend and doesn't want the child. Society is in no position to police those decisions.
ReplyDeleteWell said Bob. No sane woman would ever CHOOSE to have an abortion. God knows it's abhorrent to most of us. But for all the women you mention above, it should be OUR choice!
ReplyDeleteWell said and I couldn't agree more. The Texas Taliban and Vanilla Isis should not be making such life changing or life ending decisions and forcing their decisions and Beliefs upon anyone in a Democracy. Ironic that the very same people who push thru these 'laws' they make up for other people scream loudest about their own personal Freedoms being compromised, like the wearing of a Mask during a Pandemic. They are usually the same ones that pretend to care more about a Fetus than any Child already born... or any other Human Being having Protection for that matter. They aren't about Pro-Life at all, they're all about Control and Dominance.
ReplyDeleteThis is a friend worth keeping, Bob.
ReplyDeleteCommon sense. Empathy. Doing the right thing.
When did those things become 'illegal'??????
