I've written about this delusional hack a few times [Counselor Of Hate and UPDATE: Judge Rejects Jennifer Keeton's Lawsuit] but, to recap, Jennifer Keeton wanted to be a counselor, and enrolled at Augusta State University in Georgia. When she made it clear that she believes homosexuality is a choice, that it is immoral, unnatural, and a “lifestyle choice” that can be reversed through “conversion therapy” and stated that she would use that belief to counsel people, school officials felt she could not be an effective counselor and asked her to to enroll in a remediation program so that she might have more reasonable and open-minded beliefs about LGBT people.
She didn't want to do that, and so she sued the school.
The court disagreed with Jennifer Keeton, finding that the university had sought only to have her learn to not let her personal views affect the counseling she would provide to LGBT clients.
Which, you know, is kinda what a counselor does.
Jennifer Keeton was not happy :::foot-stomp, head-snap:::: and so she appealed that decision. But, last week, in a unanimous decision, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals agreed with the first court ruling, and said that because Jennifer Keeton was unlikely to prevail in her lawsuit, a court order for her at this stage was unwarranted.
And, in an effort to educate this delusional hack, the court noted that the requirements of the counseling program--needed for its continued accreditation and compliance with the American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics--are similar to the rules for judges, who must apply laws even if they consider them erroneous.
See, no one, not the university or the courts, is saying Jennifer Keeton doesn't have the right to her opinions, they are simply saying that she could not be an effective counselor, with those beliefs, and that she was not in compliance with the ACA ethics code.
She can counsel all she wants; and maybe she can find a job counseling her antiquated 'conversion therapy' beliefs.
Perhaps Miss Marcus Bachmann will give her a job.

UPDATE: Judge Rejects Jennifer Keeton's Lawsuit
Back in July I wrote about Jennifer Keeton, who wanted to be a counselor, and was taking courses at Augusta State University in Georgia [see post HERE]. School officials felt she could not
effectively counsel others because Jennifer Keeton believes homosexuality is immoral and a choice, and so they asked Keeton to enroll in a remediation program, attend Atlanta Pride and submit papers to her tutors detailing how her views had changed so that she might have more reasonable and open-minded beliefs about LGBT people.

In order to make a good counselor.
Well, Jennifer Keeton wanted none of that, so she filed a lawsuit because that's what people do when they don't get their way in this country.
But now a federal court judge has ruled that Augusta University was "academically legitimate" in asking Keeton to read material about counseling gays and increase her exposure to the LGBT community.
Judge Randal Hall's decision will now allow university officials to expel Jennifer Keeton if she doesn't follow the suggested remediation plan, which professors designed to "address issues of multicultural competence and develop understanding and empathy."
Is that so wrong?
Judge Hall said that the case is not about "pitting Christianity against homosexuality," which is how Keeton portrayed it, but rather it was about the constitutionality of the university's requirement.
Counseling professors had asked Keeton to complete the remediation plan after she announced to them that she opposed homosexuality and that she would tell prospective gay clients "their behavior is morally wrong and then help the client change that behavior."
Keeton then filed a lawsuit against the school, alleging the requirement was viewpoint discrimination and a violation of her First Amendment rights, but Judge Hall ruled that Keeton "failed to clearly establish her high burden of persuasion of a 'substantial likelihood' of success of the merits of her case."
In addition, Keeton provided no ev
idence that ASU faculty imposed the remediation plan because they personally disagreed with her views, Hall said. Jennifer Keeton, in fact, did not even testify at the hearing nor did she present any witnesses in support of her motion.
ASU professors, however, did testify that the remediation was not a punishment for Jennifer Keeton voicing her beliefs, but it was a tool to teach her how to counsel clients while not imposing her views.
Again. Is that so wrong?
Judge Hall decided Jennifer Keeton's unwillingness to adhere to the school's viewpoint-neutral code of ethics set by the American Counseling Association constituted a refusal to complete the curriculum. And without completing the remediation plan, Keeton will be unable to begin classes at the college as part of a practicum.
Jennifer Keeton is already re-enrolled at an Augusta Christian School where she'll be allowed to continue her lack of education.

Counselor Of Hate
Jennifer Keeton wanted to be a counselor, and took the appropriate courses at Augusta State University in Georgia, but school officials felt she could not effectively counsel others
because she believes homosexuality is a choice. In fact, she believes it so strongly, she would take that stand both inside and outside her counseling classes, telling fellow students homosexuality is immoral and a choice.

She'd make a great counselor, huh?
Well, apparently the university thought not, because they asked Keeton to enroll in a remediation program, attend Atlanta Pride and submit papers to her tutors detailing how her views had changed so that she might have more reasonable and open-minded beliefs about LGBT people.
But Jennifer Keeton doesn't want to change. She wants to keep preaching what the Bible tells her, you know, not the King James version, but the God Hates Fags version. So Jennifer Keeton filed a LAWSUIT [Thanks to Will for noting my error =)] against the university claiming that it tried to make her change her anti-gay beliefs.
Jennifer Keeton says if she doesn't complete the sensitivity program, she risks being kicked out of the Counselor Education Program. But, when Keeton signed up, VOLUNTARILY, for the program, she knew that it followed the ethical standards of American School Counselor Association, which requires counselors "recognize and accept" cultural diversity and different points of view.
Um, unless they conflict with your narrow-minded, 2,00-year-old world view.
And so Jennifer Keeton doesn't think she needs to follow any rules unless they come from the Bible. I suggest she reread the Bible, and once she follows all of its tenets TO THE LETTER, then she can counsel people any way she chooses. See, one look at Jennifer Keeton and you know she doesn't do everything the Bible tells her.
