Just A Reminder

Here’s a little something to remember … as Kevin McCarthy appears set to retake the Speaker of the House position he Tweeted:

“In just 47 days, House Republicans will have the gavel, and we will be prepared to hold the Biden administration accountable from day one. Our investigations are just getting started.”

Anyone else notice he said nothing about the “border crisis” or the “inflation crisis” or the “fentanyl epidemic” or any of the other crises the GOP has been blathering about for months?

Anyone else notice that all McCarthy wants to do is punish the Democrats and if anyone still believes the GOP doesn’t put themselves over the country ask yourself what they are doing for you cuz, last time I checked, looking for Hunter Biden’s laptop isn’t gonna bring down the cost of milk.

Also as soon as they take control of the house next year, Republicans will kill a special committee focused on climate change, according to Louisiana Representative Garret Graves, the top GOP member of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis:

“The climate crisis committee will not exist. I don’t think that’s really consistent with what we are going to be focused on.”

The Earth will freeze and burn and everyone will die, but the GOP wants that damned laptop!

And then add this to the mix … the GOP has blamed early voting, mail-in voting, women voting, young people voting, too many people voting for their lack of a Red Surge earlier this month. The GOP blames everyone but themselves for their own failures so, again, ask yourself why they want to limit how and when and where we vote if they aren’t trying to cheat.

Remember Florida’s Fascist Governor Ron DeSantis and his publicity stunt of flying migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard because he is pandering for power?

Well, think on this … Florida taxpayers paid for those human trafficking charter flights to the tune of $1.5 million and yet the private jets chartered by the contractor, Florida-based Vertol Systems Company, cost roughly $153,000 for two charter plane trips from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard.

That leaves about $1.4 million in Florida taxpayer funds unaccounted for.

So let ask this question … what happened to the money? Did Ron DeSantis not think his own state, subsequently hit by Hurricane Ian which left the Gulf Coast devastated, could have used that money? Or is he just another poser running for President?

Virginia Governor, and Republican because, of course, Glenn Youngkin won his 2020 election by promising to ban anti-racist curriculum from schools. Recently his Secretary of Education, Aimee Rogstad Guidera, consulted conservative think tanks when rewriting the state’s history and social studies curriculum and suggested deleting references to Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth, one mention of President Barack Obama, and suggested referring to Indigenous people as “America’s first immigrants.”

Erasing history so white people might feel comfortable. Ain’t that America.

Even before he was elected, the top Republicans in the House and Senate vowed allegiance to Thing 45, but on January 6, 2021, when the loser refused to admit, or accept, defeat he incited a violent mob to storm the U.S. Capitol and stop the certification of votes that would make Joe Biden the President.

And now we know that two of the wigs in the GOP—Leaders Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell—turned against the soon-to-be ex-President in those days following the insurrection, only to then about face and start licking the boots of a traitor once again.

A The New York Times reveals that in the days after the attack, McCarthy was so disgusted by the riot, and the President’s part in it, that he planned to tell Thing 45 to resign.

“I’ve had it with this guy,” McCarthy told a group of GOP leaders, calling Thing 45’s conduct on January 6 “atrocious and totally wrong” and admitted that he believed the former president was “inciting people” to attack. He told his leadership team what Thing 45 “did is unacceptable. Nobody can defend that and nobody should defend it,” and said he knew that Democrats would successfully impeach the president for a second time, and so he told his party that he was going to ask the president to resign, even going so far as bringing up the 25th Amendment.

At the same McConnell was telling his allies in Congress that impeachment was warranted, telling two of his advisors that “the Democrats are going to take care of the son of a bitch for us” referring to the upcoming impeachment, and adding, “if this isn’t impeachable, I don’t know what is.”

And then McConnell and McCarthy did nothing. Instead, they sat on their hands and watched as their own party bent to the will of  a lunatic and sociopath, and then climbed on board that train with them all.

Now, McConnell says that if Thing 45, a man he believed to have incited a traitorous riot against this country, were to run for President in 2024, Mitch McConnell would fully support him.

And McCarthy, even hearing the recordings of him saying he was going to ask Thing 45 to resign, says he never said that, and he wasn’t going to do that, and he also supports the ex-president.

So, Republicans, and I know there are some of you out there who haven’t had the Kool-Aid, why do you think this is? Are McConnell and McCarthy, and indeed the whole of the GOP, terrified of this man? Are they being bullied by a narcissist? Does Thing 45, as is his habit, have dirt on these two?

I don’t know of any other reason why, one day, they call for him to resign, call him a traitor, blame him for a violent attack on the nation’s capital, and then just a few days later, swear loyalty to him again.

Are they, as Leonard Pitts said, “spineless, craven little men?” And is what thing 45 has on them, or what he’s promised Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell worth more than whatever amount of integrity or loyalty to this country they have left?

Is this country falling going to be worth it to McCarthy and McConnell? And are the level-headed Republicans going to vote to keep these two in power, and to restore a traitor to the highest office in the land?

Is that America today?

Oh, and also important to note is that most Republicans have come out and said they support McCarthy even though they believe he lied. Let that sink in … they know he lied and they still support him.

CAST A GODDAMNED VOTE.

Bobservations

Carlos is part of a group that works with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control [DHEC] and they are trying to promote healthcare and HIV testing for the Hispanic community throughout the state. Every year DHEC hosts a meeting of diverse groups to discuss HIV/AIDS, and this year, Carlos’ group, Orgullo y Salud [Pride and Health] will be featured. Carlos has been asked to speak at the convention and as he was telling me, he said:

“All these years on the sidelines and now I’m the star.”

“Sweetie, you aren’t the star, you’re a participant in a panel discussion.”

“Where I’m the star.”

“Where everyone gets a chance—”

“I’M.THE.STAR!!!!”

I’m gonna have to hire a team to maneuver his big fat head through the room that day.

Kay Ivey is your typical ReTHUGlican, suddenly finding her ”voice” after more than a year of not uttering a word.

The Brooklyn Public Library [BPL] is fighting back against book banning and censorship in the US by launching a program called Books UnBanned, that allows 13- to 21-year-olds to apply for a free library eCard, regardless of where they live.

The eCard, good for one year, provides access to 350,000 e-books, 200,000 audiobooks and 100 databases, according to BPL.

Cancel that, GOP.

Voter Fraud Mark Meadows has been removed from North Carolina’s voter rolls while the State Bureau of Investigation continues a probe into allegations that Meadows and his wife committed election fraud.

I personally think they need to be fined and stricken from voting in this country.

Marjorie Taylor Greene makes all kinds of excuses for the January 6 Insurrection … It was antifa … It was Black Lives Matter … It was the FBI … and she even voted  against the formation of the January 6 Commission, but her latest attempt to change the narrative is the most idiotic:

“The American people are fed up with this over-dramatization of a riot that happened here at the Capitol one time. They are sick and tired of January 6—it’s over, OK?”

She said this to a reporter and was so mad at the way he “twisted” her words that she posted video of what she actually said, which is exactly what the reporter said she told him.

There was only one insurrection, y’all, so let’s stop talking about it, investigating it, jailing the perpetrators and move on.

I've got another way to liven up a party; walk up to  someone you don’t know and say:

“I want you to know that I have no problem with you being here.”

And then walk away.

Now for some good news … Dancing With The Stars is leaving network TV and going over to Disney+ so it will now cost you $7.99 a month to host Tyra Banks make a fool of herself.

Seriously, will people pay to watch Banks look like a Dilophosaurus from Jurassic Park?

Arizona GOPQanon Congressman Paul Gosar was listed as a “special guest” at a white nationalist American Populist Union at an event on April 20, a favored date among Nazis and racists because it’s Hitler’s birthday. But Gosar’s campaign says he isn’t attending the event and doesn’t know how he was listed as a guest of honor.

Huh; funny then that Paul, white nationalist, promoted his scheduled appearance on social media.

The GOP thinks the public is as dumb as the GOP.

As if you’d need another reason to vote Democrat, last week Republicans in Congress objected to Democrat Senator Maggie Hassan’s bill to temporarily suspend the gas tax to lower the price of gasoline.

The GOP objected because they favor corporations over people and because they can continue the lie the President Biden is responsible for higher gas prices.

What’s this? Another Republican committing voter fraud like Mark Meadows?

Matt Mowers, a former Thing 45 administration official and candidate for Congress in New Hampshire, actually voted twice in the 2016 primary election.

Mowers cast an absentee ballot in New Hampshire’s 2016 primary, while serving as campaign director for Chris Christie, and four months later, when Christie’s campaign failed, Mowers cast another ballot in New Jersey.

The GOP is the party of voter fraud.

Michael Salvatore Sinatra is a beefy, hairy, openly gay male model who only wears underwear and jocks, which doesn’t really matter because the question is Would You Hit It?
