Why Is It ...

… that most people don’t realize the world would be a better place if everyone took a chill pill, and it would get even better if some of them choked on it

… that most people don’t realize that fake laughing with a client is a highly prized job skill

… that I spend a lot of time wondering if I’m going to let it slide or start something when we all know I’m going to start something.

… that the older I get the easier it is for me too look at a situation and say, “Yeah, I’m out.”

… that I am so anti-social that I will reschedule the same phone call eight times hoping they’ll just text instead.

… that I actually love it when people think they’re punishing me by not talking to me

… that sometimes simply saying “Hi” can be the beginning of three years of trauma and so that’s why I don’t reply.

… that people need to know that my body is a filter; coffee goes in and sarcasm comes out.

… that hitting the gym to relieve stress is never quite as effective as hitting the people who stressed me out in the first place.

… that you should forgive your enemy but never forget the bastard’s name

Why Is It ...

… that I would like to give up sarcasm, but that would leave interpretative dance as my only means of communication.

… that the older I get the easier it becomes for me to look at a situation and say, “Yeah, I’m out.”

… that after several consultations my dermatologist can provide no treatment for the people getting under my skin.

… that people don’t believe it when I say I just got my Dissociates Degree.

… that so many people take the internet and social media so seriously … most of their “likes” come from  people at home sitting on their toilets.

… that people forget silence is my favorite conversation.

… that people always told me to just be myself and then I did and now everyone’s scared and I need a lawyer.

… that you need to remember I am not bored, I’m just tired of everything.

… that, like most people, I have to work extra hard because the baby is expensive. Oh, and I am the baby.

… that people forget the one thing I am really good at is pretending you never existed.

Why Is It ...

… that people always tell me to “just be myself” and forget that I have already tried that and traumatized everybody.

… that people have yet to learn that I want to be invited so I can say No.

… that I often wonder what the part of my brain that used to memorize telephone numbers is doing now.

… that no one understands that I have an on again off again relationship with reality

… that when you tap a video online you can see how much longer it plays but you can’t do the same to people.

… that I like to surround myself with people who have extensive vocabularies but still choose to say ‘fuck’ a lot.

… that people don’t see that I am so fine that I stay in the house all day because I am like a collector’s item.

… that the key to looking amazing is looking like crap most of the time so looking good is more of a surprise.

… that if I am giving you any attention, you should feel blessed since my real passion is ignoring people.

… that most people don’t realize that getting old means you prefer day drinking to staying out all night.

Why Is It ...

… that I've NEVER seen long lines of pro-lifers lining up to be foster parents.

… that unless you’re music, I kinda prefer not to listen to you?

… that sometimes my road rage is so bad that I wish I could Bluetooth into someone’s car and cuss them out through their speakers.

… that they still call it a “vacation request” when it’s more of a “vacation awareness” because I’m not requesting anything, I’m making you aware that I won’t be in this week.

… that even though I keep my mouth shut, sometimes, you can read the subtitles on my face.

… that nothing seems to last longer than a video someone is showing you that you have no interest in.

… that back when I was trying to find the Yee to my Haw, all I could find was the Hell to my Naw.

… that I don’t always tolerate stupid people but when I do I’m probably at work.

… that self-discipline is so hard? Is it because I’m the boss of me and I run a really loose ship?

… that HR says I’m no longer allowed to answer the phone with, “For fuck’s sake, what now?”

Vote Blue .. . And Here's Why, AGAIN!!!

It’s been a few weeks since we checked in on the GOP and their special brand of bigotry and ignorance, so let’s dive right in …

FLORIDA

GOP lawmakers who fear the T in the LGBTQ+ community have passed one of those Bathroom Bills requiring people to use bathrooms that line up with their sex assigned at birth. The bill applies to the use of bathrooms at facilities such as public schools, colleges, universities, state and local government buildings, prisons and jails.

Once again, I’ll say it: trans people use the bathrooms that align with their gender identity because they want to pee.

LOUISIANA

Efforts to increase the state’s minimum wage—currently $7.25 an hour—were rejected in a GOP-controlled legislative committee. The failed bill would have gradually increased the state’s minimum wage to $10 an hour in 2024 and to $14 an hour in 2028. And yet the day before those same GOP lawmakers advanced a bill to double their own salaries from $16,800 to $40,000.

Louisiana has the second-highest poverty rate in the country, with nearly 19% of the population impoverished … unless you’re a GOP lawmaker and you give yourself a raise.

MONTANA

Representative Zooey Zephyr, the transgender state lawmaker who was silenced after telling Republicans they would have blood on their hands for opposing gender-affirming health care for kids, was barred from returning to the Montana House floor in a court ruling that came just hours before the Legislature wrapped up its biennial session.

Silenced by the GOP because she stands for the rights of trans Americans and dares to speak out.

FLORIDA

The GOP-controlled legislature passed a bill to allow the state remove transgender minors from their homes if they are receiving gender-affirming care. Odd when you realize that in 2022 DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education act, which reinforces parents’ fundamental rights to make decisions regarding the upbringing of their children.

In education, not healthcare; in those cases Ron DeSantis and his merry band of Nazi Sympathizers make the decisions.

TEXAS

Public schools will have to prominently display the Ten Commandments in every classroom starting next school year under a bill the Texas Senate approved. This is the latest attempt from the Texas  GOP to inject religion into public schools. The Senate also gave final passage to Senate Bill 1396 authored by GOP Senator Mayes Middleton to allow public and charter schools to adopt a policy requiring every campus to set aside a time for students and employees to read the Bible or other religious texts and to pray.

What about atheists and agnostics, or those who believe public schools are not the place for religious exercises?

LOUISIANA

GOP Party officials want state lawmakers to forbid the study of racism at colleges and universities, arguing in a resolution that classes examining “inglorious aspects” of United States history are too divisive. The resolution asks the Legislature to pass laws removing diversity, equity and inclusion departments and agencies “within any institution of higher learning within the state.”

Funny, because that old saying goes, “When we know better, we do better,” but in Louisiana they don’t want to know better.

MONTANA

GOP Governor Greg Gianforte signed into law five bills aimed at restricting abortion access in the state triggering a legal request from Planned Parenthood of Montana later in the day to block one of the bills.

Five Bills??

UNITED STATES

After suffering recent electoral losses  due to a historic surge in turnout from younger voters backing Democrats, GOP lawmakers around the country are making it harder for students to cast ballots where they attend school.

A new law in Idaho specifically bars the use of student identification cards to vote, while a change in Ohio law means students will no longer be able to use tuition or college housing receipts as a form of voter ID, long a popular option for students without state driver’s licenses. Similar legislation has been introduced in at least 11 other states this year, including the presidential battlegrounds of Pennsylvania and Nevada, and a bill in Texas would bar college campuses from serving as polling places.

Funny how the GOP only works to suppress the votes of those who vote against their racist, anti-democracy, anti-LGBTQ+, anti-women, pro-gun agenda.

ON THE UPSIDE …

FLORIDA

Mayors across the state, from Orlando, Miami Beach, Tampa, Tallahassee and more, are speaking out in support of LGBTQ+ rights in light of several bills targeting the community that have been passed by the state legislature and are heading to the desk of Fascist Governor Ron DeSantis.

At least eight mayors have signed the pledge in support of the LGBTQ+ advocacy organization GLSEN and its Rise Up campaign.

The march goes on …

ILLINOIS

It looks like Illinois is set to become the first state to punish public institutions that ban books. Democratic Governor JB Pritzker supports a House bill that would withhold state funding from any of the state’s 1,600 public or school libraries that remove books from their shelves, and said:

“In Illinois, we don’t hide from the truth, we embrace it and lead with it. Banning books is a devastating attempt to erase our history and the authentic stories of many.”

The impetus for the legislation came from newly elected Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, a Democrat of course, who said he couldn’t fathom that book banning is happening in 2023.

MINNESOTA

In times like these we need more governors like Tim Walz, who, while not really naming that ‘F’ state and its Fascist governor, said in his State of the State speech:

"They're banning books from their schools. We're banishing hunger from ours."

Walz has also signed the "Democracy for the People Act" which implements automatic voter registration, allows 16- and 17-year-olds to pre-register to vote, and creates a permanent absentee voter list that will automatically send people who sign up a ballot each election. The proposal also requires voting materials and sample ballots to be in languages other than English and prohibits voter intimidation at the polls.

Pay attention … vote … speak up … vote … because if we don’t all stand together one day all of this country will be like Florida and Tennessee and Missouri and Idaho, and the GOP and the traitors come for us all.

Silence Can Be Golden

Facing hard times, David’s family’s 80 acres of land was sold to a distant relative, and suddenly what they had spent decades building was gone. For years, David dreamed of getting that land back and rebuilding the family business.

And then the land appeared at auction, and David and his father decided to do their best to collect whatever monies they could to get it back. They spent weeks and weeks trying to earn the money to reclaim their land, and when the day of the auction arrived, they were saddened to see some 200 other farmers gathered to bid on the land.

All that work and it looked like they had no chance. When the auctioneer announced David’s family’s land, they placed their bid and waited to see what happened.

Silence. The entire room went quiet. David didn’t understand what was going on and even the auctioneer was shocked; he tried to solicit other bids, but was met with silence. He called a break, and then reconvened the auction once, twice, three more times and still not a single farmer other than David and his father bid on the land. The auctioneer had no choice but to accept David’s bid, and suddenly he and his father had their farm back.

Two hundred other farmers, who could have used that land, and could have probably outbid David, stayed silent so the family farm could go back to its first family.

Miracles do happen; good people do exist; the right things can get done.

Lesson learned.

I Did Not Write This; But You Need To Read It ...

I forget where I came upon this blog, or even this post, but as soon as I read it, I knew I needed to share it. It’s from a blog called MY MIXED THOUGHTS, Mixed thoughts from a mixed brotha and this is:

I was on the Max today, like any other normal day, on my way home from work. The normality, however, was shattered when I found myself on the receiving end of a white woman’s racist tirade; never before have I been called a n****r so many times in one setting.

The Max was packed, standing room only. I was standing next to the door, trying to make efficient use of my time by reading through a legal brief in a case that I’ve been working on. We came to a stop and I stepped off so people could exit, and then I allowed those who were getting on at the stop to get on in front of me so that they could find a spot. A white woman, who was waiting to get on, just waited, refusing to take me up on my offer to let her go first. I didn’t think anything of it and I stepped back on the Max and she entered after me. Because of how little room there was, we were forced to stand about six inches apart.

I returned to reading my brief, nearly oblivious to the world around me. After a few minutes, I hear the woman say “Stop touching me.” I glance down thinking that maybe my briefcase bumped into her, but there’s still space between us so she can’t be talking to me. But then I hear her mumbling what sounds like n****r under her breath. I assume I misheard, so I choose to ignore it and go back to reading. Unfortunately, I didn’t mishear. She continues to mumble n****r several more times.

“Excuse me, did you say something to me?” I asked. She turns to me and asks what am I reading. Not wanting to engage her, other than trying to stop her from saying n****r, I respond that it’s for work and I go back to reading. “For work, huh. Probably can’t even read n****r,” she mumbles as she turns away from me.

At this point, a man (who appears to be white) sitting in front of her tells her that she needs to keep her thoughts to herself. “Nobody wants to hear that,” he says. She says something back to him, but I’m just trying to make sure the situation doesn’t get worse so I quietly thank the man and I go back to reading.

A couple minutes later, she screams “Don’t grab me!” At this point, I’m getting nervous. I instantly start thinking about what this will look like when and if the police arrive. Will the other passengers believe that I haven’t done anything? What if they don’t? And who will the police believe: America’s favorite victim, the white woman, or me, the black guy. I try to step as far away from her as I can on a crowded Max. I noticeably make it clear that I’m holding the brief in my left hand (the side closest to her) and my right hand is in my pocket, so there’s no way I could have grabbed her.

Her latest outburst is followed with several more uses of n****r, and she then starts telling the man who intervened that a n****r grabbed her on the shoulder. I truly don’t know how to respond so I just continue to ignore her. She then turns to me and calls me a n****r to my face.

“You need to calm down.” I say.

“You can’t tell me what to do n****r.” She answers.

“You need. To watch. Your mouth.” I finally say, through gritted teeth, struggling to stay calm.

She then snatches my hand asking if that was the hand I touched her with. “Don’t touch me,” I say, pushing her hand away. Even as I push her hand away, I’m hyper concerned about what the other passengers are thinking. Am I going to look aggressive? Did I use too much force? She tries to grab my hand again and I pull it away. The man who intervened stands up and offers her his seat to try and get her away from me. His offer then turns more into a demand. “You need to knock it off. Sit the f*** down and leave him alone.” She refuses and continues to shout her racist vitriol. All the while, I’m just trying to ignore her and read the brief that is now shaking violently with emotion in my hands.

Finally, about five minutes after her initial outburst, the man to my right suggests swapping places with me to create some distance. I thank him and switch places. The woman continues to shout about n****rs and tells me that I’m not even a person. Eventually, two to three other people speak up, telling the woman to shut up and stop. Apparently, they had been encouraged by the other two men’s decisions to intervene. The woman cursed at them until she got off at the next stop.

Through all of this, what bothers me the most is not the raving racism of this crazy woman. It’s the silence and indifference of the 20+ people who witnessed the entire situation taking place. After the woman got off, a few people told me they were sorry that happened and some made comments about the woman being crazy, but nearly every one of those people (mostly white) chose not to intervene during the situation, even though they knew the situation was wrong.

And for obvious reasons, my options were limited. Any decision I made could instantly paint me as the angry and aggressive black male, and cause the passengers to turn against me. It reminds me of the scene in Black Panther when T’Challa has captured Klaue after the car chase. As he’s contemplating striking Klaue, Okoye stops him by reminding him that the world is watching. As black people, the world is always watching—and judging—our reaction; even more harshly than the original wrongdoing. Instead of judging police brutality, the world judges Kaepernick and BLM. Instead of criticizing trump’s encouragement of violence, they question Congresswoman Maxine Water’s “civility.” One poor reaction on my part could transform the woman into the victim and myself into the bad actor.

Because of this, minorities need the assistance of allies. Yet each of those individuals on the Max were content to let someone else step in, and if no one stepped in, so be it. They were all waiting for the other person to act; no one wanted to be the “first.” I’m thankful for the two who did act. But to the rest of the passengers, stop waiting for someone else to speak up. Stop waiting for someone else to do something.

White people if you’re wondering what you can do, it’s simple. Please just be the “first.”

Bobservations

We had a bit of a scare last Friday involving the Greatest Cat in the World, Tuxedo.

See, our cats do not go outside, at least unattended. Tuxedo is allowed to walk along the railing with me by his side, or sit in my lap and take a siesta, but because of the rural nature of Casa Bob y Carlos, and the wild-ish animals who roam nearby, it’s not a good thing to let cats wander.

That said, over the course of time we’ve lived here Tuxedo has escaped a handful of times and has always been lured back inside by the promise of treats.

Last Friday, Carlos got up, let the dog out, fed the cats and made the coffee; we had breakfast and chatted and then I got up from the table …
“Where’s Tuxedo?”
“I don’t know, He was here for breakfast.”
"Did he get out when you let the dog in?”
“I don’t know.”
We began the search; through the house, in all the bedrooms, the office, the laundry room, the sunroom; under couches or on tables; in closets where perhaps a door was closed on him; in the bathroom.

No Tuxedo. I head out back, treats in hand, shaking the bag…
“TUXEDO! TUXEDO! TUXEDO!”
No Tuxedo. I go into the front yard …
“TUXEDO! TUXEDO! TUXEDO!”
No Tuxedo. Now I am scared and getting annoyed because I think Carlos missed him when he ran outside and so all kinds of thoughts—of what happened to the cat and what I will do to Carlos—are racing through my head.
“TUXEDO! TUXEDO! TUXEDO!”
Back inside; no cat. I then check every single cupboard in the kitchen, the laundry room and all the bathrooms, shaking that damned bag of treats as I go …
“TUXEDO! TUXEDO! TUXEDO!”
In the master bathroom, I look into a cupboard; no cat. I turn … and there he is, sitting in the bathtub.

See, the night before we’d given all the cats a hit of Advantage because they were scratching a lot. You give Advantage at the base of their neck, so they can’t lick it off.

Tuxedo, because he is so smart, thought he’d wait until Mean Daddy—his name for Carlos—got out of the shower and then he would roll around on the bottom of the tub so see if he could rub the Advantage off.

He got yelled at for disappearing and big smooch from Nice Daddy—that’s what he calls me—for being safe.

In the car, later, driving Carlos to work, I said:
“Sorry for all those hateful things I said about you when we couldn’t find Tuxedo.”
“You didn’t say anything mean to me.”
“In my head, sweetheart in my head.”
“Oh, I expect it was especially vicious then.”
“Yes.”
And luckily, just in my head.
Model Todd Sanfield created an underwear line a few years ago, and that’s one of the photos of the newest campaign.

Um, is it invisible, underwear, Todd?

The “Commando” Line?
This week we learned that 300 priests in Pennsylvania have molested over a thousand children. Boys and girls raped by priests and the Vatican has said

.
That’s all.
Up there in Vermont, Christine Hallquist has become the Democratic nominee for governor.

Not a big deal, except Hallquist is the first openly transgender nominee for governor.

The march goes on, but still …
A middle school in Achille, Oklahoma is closed on the heels of violent threats by parents … parents … on social media against Maddie, a 12-year-old transgender student who identifies as female and uses the girls’ bathroom.

Maddie had been using the staff bathroom at her old school but began using the girls’ bathroom at the new school because she didn’t know where the staff bathroom was. And, naturally, she was accused of using the bathroom to “peep” at other students.

And that’s when the threats began on a private parents’ Facebook group for the school. The parents … again parents … called Maddie “it” and “thing”, suggested that her genitalia be mutilated to make her female …
“A good sharp knife will do the job real quick”
Another illiterate, toothless, possibly cousin-f**king parent said it was “hunting season on them kind” and that there was “no bag limit.”

In Vermont trans females are running for governor, but in Oklahoma trans females are running for their lives.
Oh, lord, he doesn’t “get” time zones!

It appears that several times in the first year of his administration, _____ wanted to call Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the middle of the afternoon but there was a wee problem: afternoon in DC is the middle of the night in Tokyo and _____ didn’t understand that.
Seriously. His team tried to cover his buffoonery by saying that, as a global businessman grifter, _____ does understand time zones, but that he can’t be bothered to add up “time differences” when he feels like calling a foreign leader.

Oh, yeah, that’s a much better explanation.
In the wake of Omarosa going unhinged, Minister of Propaganda Kellyanne Conway ran into some trouble when she couldn’t name a single West Wing staffer who is African-American.

This Week host Jonathan Karl noted that pariah Omarosa had been the most senior black person in _____’s White House and asked Kellyanne who that person might be now, and Kellyanne said:
“African American?”
She then named HUD Secretary Ben “Brain Surgeon” Carson, but Karl quickly pointed out that Carson is not a member of the White House staff. He asked again:
“I’m asking you about the White House staff. Who — who there is in the White House staff right now?"
“We have Ja’Ron [but Conway couldn’t remember the last name of Special Assistant for Legislative Affairs Ja’Ron Smith] “He’s been very involved with Jared Kushner and President _____ on prison reform from the beginning.”
Karl asked if Smith had an office in the West Wing, to which Kellyanne lied:
“He has an office on the — in the EOP, absolutely, the Executive Office of the President, yes.”
The EOP is where non-West Wing staff work and it’s in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door to the White House.

Oh, Kellyanne, facts are hard, eh, girl?
In case you needed more proof that Republicans lie whenever their mouths are moving, I give you Florida Republican State House candidate Melissa Howard.

There were rumors that she didn’t earn a degree from Miami University in Ohio, so Howard flew home to prove the naysayers wrong. And then she posted a picture on social media of a partial college transcript and another picture of her holding a copy of a diploma, but …

… the degree is a fake, according to Miami University General Counsel Robin Parker, who saw the pictures. And quicker than you can say, ‘Bitch don’t lie,’ Howard removed the diploma pictures from Facebook.

Miami University says Howard attended the school, but did not earn a degree, either in 1994 as she first stated, or in 1996, which she later claimed. And the degree she’s holding so proudly in that picture is a Bachelor of Science in Marketing something Miami University does not offer, and never has.

In addition, the "diploma" contains the signatures of Robert C. Johnson, Dean. Well, Johnson was dean of the graduate school not the dean for the School of Business and therefore would not have signed Howard’s diploma.

Howard has stopped talking which means, for now, she’s also stopped lying.

UPDATE Melissa “Pants On Fire” Howard has dropped out of the race. Bye Felicia!
____ ally and confidante Roger Stone posted a photo to Instagram—which he has since deleted—showing _____ and his Flying Monkeys—Senator Devin Nunes, Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Mike Pence, and Sean Hannity—dressed in “Space Force” uniforms.

Stone posted the picture with the caption:
“I love this —proud to be in this crew—but the only lies being told are by liberal scumbags.”
Trouble was the uniforms were emblazoned with Swastikas.

Sheesh, Republicans are dumb.
Some men I’d like to see model the Todd Sanfield Commando Line?

Christopher Meyer, top left, who plays the young hottie Anton on The Affair… Sidenote: The Affair might be one of the best shows you’re not watching.

Christopher Abbott, top right, plays Mason on The Sinner, a kind of Whydunnit instead of a Whodunnit.

Will Brittain, bottom left, plays Dave, one of the good … hot …guys on Colony, while Tory Kittle, bottom left, plays another good … hot … guy on the same show.

Just sayin’ …commando.

My Two Cents: #ByeRacistFelicia

By now you’ve all heard about Roseanne’s stupidity; her bad taste, her outright lies, and her blatant racism, and how it lead to her show being cancelled and her talent agency basically saying #ByeFelicia.

Well, Roseanne isn’t done … being an ass of epic proportions.

After the cancellation and the firing, Roseanne said not a word; no apology, nothing. It wasn’t until the _____ Tweet Witching Hours—like _____, she Tweets her lunacy in the middle of the night—that Roseanne offered an apology for saying a black woman looked like an ape:
"I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste."
Um, Roseanne? There isn’t an apology big enough to make that better and you know it. And you also know it wasn’t a joke because jokes are supposed to be funny

After Roseanne Tweeted that apology—to Valerie Jarrett, but not to the Clintons or George Soros—she announced she was leaving Twitter … except that was a lie and she was back on Twitter a few hours later blaming Ambien for her Tweets:
“Guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was Ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible [sic]. I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please.”
Ambien; um, again, honey, if you knew, as you said in your Tweet, that Ambien makes you do things you wouldn’t normally do, but continued to take it anyway, then you only have yourself to blame.

Oh, and I don’t believe you anyway.

But Roseanne still wasn’t done; when her costar, and TV daughter, Sara Gilbert, who spearheaded the drive for the reboot, Tweeted:
"I am disappointed in her actions to say the least. This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love -- one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member."
Roseanne blasted Gilbert this morning because, as racists do, they think their co-workers should stick up for them.

And yet it wasn’t just her co-workers. Wanda Sykes,  a consulting producer on the show, tweeted that she was quitting her job. And then ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey released this statement:
"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."
That was followed by Bob Iger, the chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, who said:
"There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing. Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."
Michael Fishman, who played Barr's son in the reboot and the original series, offered this statement:
"I feel devastated, not for the end of the Roseanne show, but for all those who poured their hearts and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes. Our cast, crew, writers, and production staff strived for inclusiveness, with numerous storylines designed to reflect inclusiveness. The words of one person do not exemplify the thinking of all involved."
And so naturally, Roseanne attacked him on Twitter saying the inclusive nature of his character—in an interracial marriage with a biracial daughter—was her idea because, you know, that makes racism and stupidity okay.

Actress Emma Kenney, the one who played Roseanne’s granddaughter, and the one who the Roseanne character physically assaulted during the show in what Roseanne thought of as comedy, Tweeted:
“I am hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed. The racist and distasteful comments from Roseanne are inexcusable. As I called my manager to quit working on Roseanne, I was told it was cancelled. I feel so empowered by @iamwandasykes , Channing Dungey and anyone at ABC standing up for morals and abuse of power. Bullies will NEVER win.”
Sadly, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf have yet to say one word, but I’ll say something …

Be racist, Roseanne, or anyone else, if it’s how you feel. Enjoy it, and wallow in it, and live your life thinking anyone who doesn’t look like you, sound like you, love like you, worship like you, vote like you, should be attacked and mocked and ridiculed. Speak it to your circle of friends; join a group; light a torch; march.

But … when you step outside your group and Tweet your ignorance you are no longer speaking to “your” people, you are speaking to the world, and the world, your employers, your co-workers, even some of your friends, will clap back.

You have the right to say what you want but understand that there are consequences.

The only one, right now, who isn’t paying for their racist remarks, their outright lies, their ignorance, intolerance, bullying, is the so-called “President.” And I firmly believe that this spike is racist rants, on Twitter, on video, in the streets and parks and dorms across this country, are a direct result of having that buffoon in the White House.

But, We The People have a voice; We The People, by way of a TV network that cancelled her show, and a talent agency that severed ties with her, have spoken rather loudly that this behavior is unacceptable.

We don’t want to hear it; we don’t want to see it … those of you who use the police as your “racism valets’ because you’re uncomfortable that people of color are near you need to stop now. If you’re uncomfortable that two black men aren’t drinking coffee in Starbucks, then you’re the problem; if you need the police to wake up a black woman sleeping in your dorm’s common room, then you’re the issue; if you call the police because black people are barbequing, or Latinos are speaking Spanish, you are what’s wrong here.

We need to step up the fight and take it to the voting booth and make it perfectly clear that those in office, no matter how high the office, are responsible for this behavior, and those who condone it, by agreeing, or worse, saying nothing, are done. The time has come to stop this nonsense, once and for all. When someone says something racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-transgender, ageist, call them out on it.

Silence = Agreement

Silence = Acceptance
