I like to scare Carlos because, well, I’m a child. So, when I come home from work I often sneak into the house, knowing he’s in the back office. I creep down the hallway stand at the door watching him on the computer and says:

“Boo.”

He always jumps and I always, again, because I’m a child laugh and clap my hands. Now, he has tried to do the same to me, but he doesn’t succeed because, since I do it to him, I am always ready for him, so when he jumps out and says ‘Boo’ I just say ‘Hello.’

One day this week I pulled into the garage and thought of a new tactic. I sent him a text saying I was just leaving work and would be home soon. I crept into the house, and I could hear his Siri reading him my text. Then he sent one back to me saying that dinner was ready. I crept down the hallway; I stood outside the office and saw him on the computer. I texted him, and he asks his Siri to read it to him:

‘Bob sent a new text: ‘Boo.’

And then I yelled ‘Boo’ and had to peel him off the ceiling.

I am such a child.

As I told Carlos, you may think Mary’s outfit was too short, but at least I didn’t see her vagina. Can’t say the same about Melanie.

Brandon Boulware, a Kansas City attorney and father of four, speaking out at the Missouri statehouse hearing on Resolution 53, a proposal to effectively ban transgender athletes in high school from participating in girls’ sports:

"One thing I often hear when transgender issues are being discussed is, 'I don't get it. I don't understand.’ And I would expect some of you to have said that and to feel the same way. I didn't get it, either. For years, I didn't get it. I forced my daughter to wear boy clothes, get short haircuts and play on boy sports teams. Why did I do this? She asked me if she went inside and put on boy clothes, could she then go across the street and play. And it was then that it hit me. My daughter was equating being good with being someone else. I was teaching her to deny who she is. As a parent, the one thing we cannot do—the one thing—is silence our child's spirit. And so on that day, my wife and I stopped silencing our child's spirit. It was immediate, a total transformation . . . I now have a confident, smiling happy daughter. She plays on a girls' volleyball team. She has friendships. She's a kid. I need you to understand that this language, if it becomes law, will have real effects on real people," Boulware said. "It will affect my daughter. We had a Zoom meeting at work the other day with a prospective client named Leila, and one of my co-workers, who is notoriously bad at names, couldn’t remember Leila. She kept asking me:

“What’s her name? What’s her name again?"

And I said:

“Leila! Lay-La!”

“NO! Eric is an entirely different name!”

You know how dogs always cock their heads to one side and look at you quizzically when you speak to them? That’s how most people look at me when I talk.

Oh, and then in Florida, Laura Rose Carroll, right, an assistant principal, and her daughter, were arrested after hacking into dozens of student accounts to cast fake votes to help the daughter become homecoming queen.

Carroll and her daughter cast nearly 250 votes in Tate High School’s homecoming court election.

The GQP-majority Oklahoma state House has passed a bill that would grant immunity to drivers who “unintentionally” run over protesters.

Yup. If you go to a protest in Oklahoma and then get in your car and mow down protesters, simply tell the police it was “unintentional,” and that you didn’t mean to maim or kill anyone, you were just “fleeing from a riot” because you had a “reasonable belief” that fleeing would protect you from harm.  

This new legislation would remove criminal or civil liability for any driver who “unintentionally” injures or kills someone while it also allows protesters to be charged with a misdemeanor if they “unlawfully obstruct” traffic, punishable by up to a year in jail and $5,000 in fines.   

Run over a protester, get a slap on the wrist. Stop traffic, spend a year in jail.

And over there in Louisville, Kentucky, where it has been one year since Breonna Taylor was murdered in her home by police, the state Senate passed a bill to enhance penalties for crimes related to rioting.

GQP Senator Danny Carroll, a retired police officer, said his Senate Bill would crack down on those who "tried to destroy the city of Louisville" in the civil unrest last year after, again, Breonna Taylor was murdered in her home by police using a No-Knock warrant. Oh, and in addition to that lunacy, Carroll’s bill would make it a crime to provoke an officer verbally to the point it could provoke a violent response.

You see, apparently in Louisville, if you’re mean to a police officer and they can’t handle it, they will kill you; it’s a play on sticks and stones may break my bone but words will never hurt me, unless you’re in Louisville and use your words against a police officer in which case you will die.

But then in Minneapolis, the City Council unanimously approved a $27 million settlement in the civil lawsuit brought by the family of George Floyd. Now, clearly, no amount of money will bring George Floyd back, but perhaps this will get those in charge in Minneapolis to rethink their policies like, oh, I dunno, kneeling on a man’s neck until he dies.

The settlement includes $500,000 to be spent on community efforts near the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, which has become known as George Floyd Square.

Alejandro Cifo Capilla is a Latino model , and y’all know I loves me some, well, one, Latino man. But Alejandro is worthy of a second, third, fourth look.

He was elected Mister Supranational Spain 2017, and then represented Spain at one of the biggest international male modelling competitions in the world—Mister Supranational in Poland—and won first runner up award, along the Mister Photogenic award at the pageant. I am a terrible person to buy gifts for because I really don’t want anything and when I need something, I get it myself. So, as my birthday approached—sidenote: thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday—I told him I’d give him a clue, and here it is:

“What? Say it again?”

Cut to yesterday and there’s a gift on the table—a book—and I open it up to find that it was ‘Trust’ by Pete Buttigieg. I said to Carlos:

“I didn’t realize Pete had written a book … ”

“I thought it was the one you asked for.”

I said, again:

“The husband of a presidential candidate wrote a book …”

“Oh, Chasten?”

“Yes, Chasten.”

We went out for the day and stopped in at Book on Broad where he ordered the book. But. As he asked the shop owner about the book, I heard him say Chasten Buttigieg, and the shop owner said:

“Yes, I have it: ‘Trust.’ By Pete Buttigieg.”

So, it really wasn’t his bad, it was hers. Luckily, he, um, straightened her out.

Tuxedo is growing ever more annoyed by Republicans who think sedition isn’t impeachment worthy.

Traitor insurrectionist, and North Texas realtor, Jenna Ryan, the Private Jet Terrorist, has been kicked off PayPal for attempting to solicit donations for “legal fees and losses.” Ryan, who was arrested last week, asked her Twitter followers to help her pay her attorney’s fees:

“I am accepting donations to pay legal fees and losses due to my arrest and charges by the FBI.”

Well, no, honey, it’s due to your being an ignorant fool who thought you could take over the nation’s capitol. Ryan had raised just $1,000 when PayPal shut her down.

Dr. Deborah Birx, the last administration’s coordinator of the Coronavirus Task Force is now saying that she disagreed often with the administration and their response to the virus even though she never said one single word until now.

When asked what her biggest mistake was during her time in the last administration, she wishes she’d been “more outspoken,” especially on the issue of COVID testing and drinking bleach and shining flashlights up our asses.

Color me surprised but asshat FauxChristian Franklin Graham is standing up for bigot and homophobe, Aussie tennis legend, Margaret Court. One of the world’s greatest women’s tennis players, Court will receive the Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AC), the highest category of honor awarded as part of Australia Day.

This is the same woman who has maintained that being gay is the work "of the devil" and has also compared it to Hitler. And so, these FauxChristians, who spew hate stick together; one getting as national honor, and one propping her up.

At the same time, however, up here in America, President Biden signed an executive order overturning the former administration’s ban on transgender Americans serving in the military. The ban, which allowed the military to bar openly transgender recruits and discharge people for not living as their sex assigned at birth, affected up to 15,000 service members.

Biden said that the last thing America needs is to deny any American their right to serve their country.

The great Cloris Leachman passed away this week at the age of 94. A brilliant actress and comedian and human being, she was feisty and outspoken and just plain fabulous. From The Last Picture Show through the Mary Tyler Moore Shoe and on into Young Frankenstein and beyond, she was brilliant.

Republican Senator Rob Portman announced that he will not seek a third term in 2022. He blames his decision on the schism in the GOP between the old guard Republicans and the MAGAts and Proud Boy  and QAnon of today.

Portman will be around, however, to vote on the impeachment of the last president and has said that “as a juror, I’m going to listen to both sides. That’s my job.”

Portman is one of the few in the GOP to blame the last president for the Capitol riot.

It was just a couple of years ago that North Carolina was at the center of one of those Bathroom Ban initiatives, to deny trans people the right to use the bathroom of the gender with which they identify. But that was then … when the GOP ruled the state, and this is now, with Democrats in the statehouse.

But now, three North Carolina municipalities—Hillsborough, Carrboro and Chapel Hill—have passed ordinances protecting the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination. These new non-discrimination ordinances are the first in the state since a provision, put in place by the GOP in 2016, in a state law barring such measures expired in December.

And now, four years later, Republican Senate Leader Phil Berger, says the party won’t do a thing about the new ordinances because, ahem, he and his party have more important items on their mind.

Or maybe they realize anti-LGBTQ+ bigotry is on the way out in North Carolina.

Add Google to the growing list of companies will not make contributions from its PAC during this election cycle for any member of Congress who voted against certifying the results of the presidential election, following the deadly Capitol riot.

Microsoft has paused its PAC contributions as well. It will decide by February 15, after soliciting employee feedback, about whether to continue stopping donations to members of Congress who voted against certifying the election results.

Saverio Pescucci, a self-described “super chill, friendly, gay, Covid responsible” New York City ballet dancer is going viral after posting a thirsty apartment search ad in a popular Facebook group.

As part of his Brooklyn or Manhattan room search, Pescucci posted on the 284,800-member Gypsy Housing group on Facebook, and included a handful of photos of himself, in all his sexy glory, to spur interest. His post, naturally, went viral, with almost 1,000 likes and more than 400 comments.

And, Pescucci has found a room to rent, though, sadly, it’s not the one he was offered here in South Carolina.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, paying tribute AIDS activist Larry Kramer, who went from adversary to friend over the years:

From the very beginning, when there was no hope, and we were adversaries, to the point where we had extraordinarily effective drugs and were able to save the lives of so many people, that we became sort of old guys together looking back at history and realizing what an amazing journey we’d been through together. I love that Kramer and Fauci were adversaries who learned to listen to one another and then work together.

It speaks volumes about both men.
