I Didn't Say It....

Kathy Griffin, on Elisabeth "DimBulb" Hasselbeck's reaction to her joke about Scott Brown's daughters:
"Now I have to send Elisabeth Hasselbeck two muffin baskets because she confronted me when I was a guest on the show two weeks ago and then this morning she called me 'scum.' I have to send two baskets because as a comedian, I'm loving it. You have to remember that the genesis of that whole joke about Scott Brown was that when he won the election he famously said, 'My two daughters are available.' Then he was called a 'pimp' in the Washington press....The bottom line is, lighten up! Suck it! As the great Bette Midler said, 'Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.'"

Poor Elisabeth.
She played right into Kathy's hand.
Asshat.

Congressman Alan Grayson, on Republican resistance to extending unemployment benefits:
"The Republicans have been after all three of those programs ever since 1935. They got welfare a few years ago, because that's poor people. They could jump on them. But unemployment and Social Security is middle-class people--they haven't been able to get them, but it isn't because they're not willing to try....Now, I know what the Republicans are thinking. They're thinking why don't they just sell some stock....If they're in really dire straits, maybe they could take some of their art collection and send it off to the auctioneer. And if they're in deep, deep trouble maybe these unemployed can sell one of their yachts....And I will say this to the Republicans who have blocked this bill now for months and kept food out of the mouths of children. I will say to them now, may God have mercy on your souls."

The more he speaks the more I like him.

Meredith Baxter, on coming out as gay:
“I thought I might put an ad in the paper, kind of like a little birth announcement that would say, 'OK, I'm gay – Meredith...[but]...When it became apparent that this was not in my control any longer I was put in touch with the lovely Howard Bragman and he sort of put things into motion in ways that I thought was way over the top...an article in...People Magazine....followed by on air with Matt Lauer saying to national television 'hello im a lesbian!'...It was not in my plan but I will say that an enormous amount of relief followed that. I didn't expect it. I didn't know to look for that. I didn't know to want that. But now the feeling is 'Fuck it. Everyone knows. I don't have to worry about anything.'"

Nor should they. Being gay is nothing to worry about.

Miss New York 2010, Claire Buffie, on her reign being run on a gay rights platform:
"I fell like gay rights are the civil rights movement of my generation, and I think it's really important to have straight ally support because any time you want to effect a change with a minority you have to have support from the majority, and I'm that voice now...My older sister Sarah is a lesbian, but in addition to her, I grew up in the performing arts. So many of my friends are LGBT, and it's my duty as a straight ally to represent them."

After Carrie Prejean, it's nice to see a beauty queen with brains and beauty, rather than a limited, homophobic, wiorld view.
Have a good logn reign, Claire.

Nicolas Cage, on doing drugs with his cat:
"I had a bag of mushrooms in my refrigerator. My cat used to sneak into the refrigerator and eat them. The cat ate them voraciously, so I thought what the heck, I better do it with him. I remember lying on my bed for hours and Lewis was on the desk across my bed and we just stared at each other for hours – not moving, just staring at each other, and I had no doubt that he was my brother… But having said that I don’t do that anymore. And you know what, later in life when I was completely not doing any of that, I know he said hi to me."

He is all kinds of crazy. All kinds.

Javier Bardem, on his crush, Brad Pitt:
"I had the great opportunity to meet Brad a couple of times…what a beauty. He is beautiful and his physicality is so amazing to see. But the beauty really comes from different places - the way he talks, the way he's interested in what you're saying. And that body is like - wow. It's amazing, no? He really made me feel very, like…I don't know, like, I could fall in love with him! Like a teenage girl getting crazy and going [screams] like that. I met him only twice but I would say it's a good self. And that is when the beauty comes voom!"

I can't help but think of being the meat in a Bardem-Pitt sandwich.

Hillary Clinton, on Chelsea's upcoming wedding:
"It says a lot about this wonderful experiment known as America, where we recognize the right that every single person has to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and over the years so many of the barriers that prevented people from getting married — crossing lines of faith or color or ethnicity — have just disappeared."

Well, Hill, we don';t atctually recognize the rights of every single person.
Some of are still less than.

Michael Bloomberg, on The Grizzly Bore's Tweet-a-Thon regarding the building of a mosque near ground Zero in New York:
"Everything that the United States stands for and New York stands for is tolerance and openness and I think it's a great message for the world that unlike another place where they might actually ban people from wearing a an item or they might actually keep people from building a building, that's not what America was founded on nor is it what America should become."
And he went on to add that the Grizzly Bore does thrive on using her freedom of speech.....though, for me, she uses it to try and restrict the Freedom of Speech and the Freedom of [and from] Religion to which we are all entitled.
