On a serious note, I'm constantly surprised how many still describe Islam as being essentially a 'tolerant' religion. (Tony Bliar made the same claim just after 9/11). I always want to know 'tolerant compared to what?' As someone who still reads a passage of the Koran every day (as well as the Bible), and have done so for many decades, I see nothing at all 'tolerant' in that first book of scripture (and very little in the other, too). I'd challenge anyone making such a claim to name one single Islamic majority country that is in any way more acceptingly tolerant than the democracies of Europe, Australasia and the Americas - plus a few in Asia. Sure we all have our disappointments in our own governments but I do ask how many NON-Muslims would choose to live under an Islamic theocratic rule.
#5 - how true THAT is!
ReplyDeleteTo the list of folks that Ted is afraid of you can add Muslim scientists and engineers all of whom we have known for over 30 years.
ReplyDeleteThe things nightmares are made of. Especially the trump fuel one......a,scary thought indeed.
