Today In Stoopid: Steve King Says Marriage Equality Means 'You Can Marry My Lawnmower'

Iowa GOP Congressman Steve King is an asshat; he’s appeared here many times under the Asshat Banner. He’s virulently anti-gay and incredibly stupid, which is scary considering people in Iowa keep electing him to Congress.

In his latest shot at becoming the Dumbest Human being Ever, King, while on the road with future-failed-presidential-candidate, and fellow asshat and wingnut Mike Huckabee, said that the recent Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage meant that from now on, "you can marry my lawnmower."

Now, on the surface it sounds funny … and stupid … mostly stupid … because even though we won the battle for marriage equality, we, the LGBT community, are still subjected to bigotry and homophobia in all aspects of our lives and when so-called educated elected officials compare my marriage to Carlos as equal to a person marrying an inanimate machine, it’s just hurtful.

And stupid, And bigoted. And homophobic. And asshatted. And Steve King.

Luckily, even though we have miles to go before being fully equal, it does appear that King and Huckabee are the last of a dying breed, too ignorant to evolve, too stupid to see that equality benefits everyone.

  6. This man needs to be sectioned; he is clearly insane or at the very least educationally subnormal, not to mention totally lacking in empathy or any other sensible human emotions. Either that or he's on an acid trip - that's the only way I can envisage that he came up with a lawnmower....specifically HIS lawnmower. Very odd.
