Celebrate 'Guns Save Lives Day' On The Anniversary Of The Newtown Massacre

Again let me explain my viewpoint on guns: if you own one, you intend to use one. Whether you use it to hunt for food — whilst I get my chickens at CostCo — or use it for sport — and I don’t get the sport of firing a weapon — or use it for protection, you intend to use it. I don’t like it, but that’s the way it is, and you have that right.

And, again my viewpoint, living in a small town I know lotsa folks who own guns, for hunting or sport, and for protection. And most of them are responsible gun owners. I like that: responsible.
But, today I will be talking about irresponsible gun owners, and moronic gun owners, and idiotic gun owners, and the most disgusting, vile gun owners on the planet: the members of a lovely little gun group called the Second Amendment Foundation.

I’m not going to go into the Second Amendment and all that rot about the right to own guns, I’m just not interested in those folks who think ‘the right’ means they can own an arsenal, or a machine gun, or any number of weapons of their choosing. No, today is about the Second Amendment Foundation’s plan to hold what they are calling “Guns Save Lives Day.”

Guns. Save lives. Let that sink in. And argue in your head that, yeah, maybe, in the right hands, say that of a police officer at a robbery, a gun might, might, save a life. Might.

But the Second Amendment Foundation wants to hold their lovely event on December 14th. Does that date sound familiar? Probably not, because it’s been almost a year, but it’s the first anniversary of the Newtown slayings. You know, the day that guns did not save lives.

Now, again, own a gun, it’s your right. Exercise your right to Free Speech, I’ll have your back, But to take that day, of all days, to actually celebrate guns is a slap in the face of every mother and father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, friend, who lost someone that day, because that day guns did not save lives. The day that guns took lives.

Alan Gottlieb, whose two pro-gun groups, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and Second Amendment Foundation, those moronic, gutless, unfeeling, uncaring, insensitive repulsive collection of fools and miscreants, says:
“We are going to use the day to get our views out. We don’t want (pro gun-control groups) own that day. ... We are gonna be there first.”
I got news for you, Alan, your views are out there, because our Congress is owned by the NRA; our political offices in Washington, DC, are filled with gutless, spineless politicians who would rather see children massacred than to offer up a logical solution to gun violence by way of gun control. Not confiscation. Not removal. Control.

So, Alan, your view is out there, and your group is out there, and the idea that you want a celebration on the day that children were slaughtered is out there. And if you can live with that, if you can honestly say that the best day of the year to celebrate guns is the anniversary of the day that innocent children were murdered, then I wonder if you aren’t exactly the type of person who should not be allowed to own a gun. An insensitive fool, who cares not about dead children and those that grieve them a year later.

Gottlieb says he and his allied are just responding to gun control groups already politicizing the anniversary; politicizing the day by remembering those children and teachers who died that day in the hopes that one day this country can honestly control guns, register guns, know who owns guns, and keep guns out of the hands of fools and gutless, spineless morons, like Alan Gottlieb and his ilk, who think celebrating guns on December 14th is the right thing to do.

It isn’t.

  1. Poor timing and doesn't address the real problem. Can we guard against mentally ill people getting their hands on guns?

  2. 1% of the world own the majority of the wealth, a tiny minority of the GOP think the Affordable Care Act is akin to slavery, 10% of Americans do not want gun control. How come the tail keeps wagging the dog?
