Btw: I've always wanted to ask rabid theists why doesn't their 'god' take his vengeance out out on the world's LEAST religious countries when they seem to be largely immune from 'natural' disasters - most of Europe (nearly all, in fact), as well as Canada, Japan, Australasia........ - even most of China, for Heaven's sake! But I can hazard a good guess at their answer. "S/he's given up on them!" Yeah, right!
I had no idea Canada would be among the least religious in the world. There are like a billion churches (slight exaggeration) in every small town. I howled at the indoctrination by teachers. I still haven't figured out the apostrophe one. :p
The folks that need to see all of these (except for the penis one!)are the folks who probably do NOT read your blog! Republicans stay ignorant and will vote ignorant, too! It's a worry!!
Oh, the Nazi lives don't matter billboard? If it's real, I would love them to put one around here. And it is true, no? That correlation between non-religulous and non-violent? Correlation is not causation but one wonders...
As a Lt. General in the Grammar Marines, I salute you and YOUR apostrophe indoctrination!! ✊ YOU'RE the best!! Now, let's work on my other pet peeves: 1) less and fewer are not interchangeable; 2) "should've" is correct while "should of" means you only hear words, you never read them; and, 3) learning to parse sentences should not be a lost skill...verb form matching the subject of the sentence, not the object of the preposition, would be an excellent place to start!! Let's go, troops! Dismissed!!
"Should OF" I've seen in established writers like James Baldwin and Scott Fitzgerald - where I'm surprised that their editors or proof-readers haven't made the correction. It MAY be a particular American thing as, though I'm sure some British writers must also have scribed such (it was not infrequently done by some pupils at my primary school) I'm struggling to come up with even one British writer's name where it occurs, though there surely must be some. But some say that it hardly matters as long as the meaning is clear. Well, yes, but I do find it so distracting as to take away one's (or just MY?) attention away from the passage's content, even momentarily.
So glad I had already swallowed my coffee when I started reading today's memes. Bobo's choking chicken one–what a way to kickoff!–would have caused my screen to totally covered in hot bean juice from a huge spit take
All ban on target -absolutely dead centre.

ReplyDeleteSpot on indeed!

Because they are blinded by ignorance and hatred and fear.

DeleteWhen I heard "I should of" I often think the speaker means "I should've" but when it's written it's just wrong.
Deletethe dog's mother

These are exceptional.
ReplyDeleteIt's me - Cher
I'm surprised Kitara hasn't tried that Cher one yet!
DeleteSo many good ones. I've stolen Cher and will be careful to cough in the crook of my arm rather than penis style.
ReplyDeleteThe penis one killed me, and now I can't unsee it.
DeleteIt's Not Just Guns it's Republicans can work on so many different levels and issues.
ReplyDeleteTruth, cuz let's talk about what they've accomplished this year alone :::::crickets:::::
DeleteSo glad I had already swallowed my coffee when I started reading today's memes. Bobo's choking chicken one–what a way to kickoff!–would have caused my screen to totally covered in hot bean juice from a huge spit take
ReplyDeleteThe Groper one killed me! it's one of my favorites.
DeleteThe religion and peace map is remarkable.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, that one.
DeleteOh, sweetpea! These were spot-on once again! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThere was some good stuff out there this week!

It's nice to see my country among the most peaceful, least religious.
ReplyDeleteI wish America could be like that.
DeleteAs a teacher, I loved the apostrophe one! And the "We need to take care of our own" was spot on.
ReplyDeleteTruth.
DeleteGreat selection's (yes I know it is wrong.)
