Paul Ryan Will Lie To Your Face, Part Two

Paul Ryan was one of those anti-stimulus politicians, like his counterpart in idiocy, Sarah Palin. He didn't want it. It was bad! Take your money and go!

But, um, yeah, Paul Ryan, unrepentant liar, actually did seek the money; he did ask for it. He did spend it. But now he says he didn't do any such thing at all.

Paul Ryan has repeatedly denied making the requests for stimulus money, first on a Boston radio station in 2010 and then again last Wednesday in a television interview. But then an audio file from an interview done in 2010 clearly shows that Ryan, responding to a caller, said that he would not vote against something--the stimulus package--and “then write to the government to ask them to send us money.”

He clearly stated: “I did not request any stimulus money.” But then, with a minute little investigation it was clear Ryan lied, and that he did request the very money he deemed as wasteful, though now, rather than say he never asked for it, he's using that old standby, "I don't recall."

He doesn't recall the four letters, each one written by Lyin' Paul Ryan, and sent to the US Department of Energy, that sought grants from the Obama administration’s economic recovery package, aka The Stimulus. The funds were for conservation and green energy projects, and one of the organizations was later granted $20 million.

Now Lyin' Ryan says he viewed the request for stimulus money--that bad money--as a form of constituent services is unusual, but Steve Ellis, vice president of the nonpartisan Taxpayers for Common Sense, says a $20 million grant is considerably larger than a traditional constituent service request. But Ellis said a bigger question is why Ryan signed the letters if he didn’t know what they were requesting and why.

Um, because he's a liar?

“One would hope that lawmakers are engaged when they are asking the federal government for money,” he said. “Due diligence is required on something they are affixing their signature to.”

Ryan was one of the most vocal critics of President Obama’s stimulus spending plan, and said that, in voting against it, that it was a “wasteful spending spree” and warned that it would not provide the right kind of help, instead advocating more tax cuts.

But then he asked for some money and he took the money. That wasteful spending spree became something he wanted, after voting against it. Sound familiar? Well, a lot of Republicans, Congressman, Senators and even one half-wit, half-term governor from Alaska, blasted the stimulus package while requesting money from the stimulus package.

That's the GOP way. Denounce it. Deny you asked for it. Then, when caught in the lie, say you don't recall.

But, Lyin' Ryan, so utterly un-Vice Presidential, even after asking for the money, taking it, spending, continued to attacks the stimulus bill: “All this temporary booster shot stimulus didn’t work in the stimulus package, didn’t work when the last administration tried these things, so we don’t want to go with ideas that have proven to fail, we want ideas that have proven to succeed. I think tax reform is the key.”

Uh huh, for the wealthiest Americans.

And then we have just a small update: After denying that he asked for the very money that he called wasteful, and then saying he didn't recall asking for the very money he called wasteful, Lyin' Paul Ryan has finally admitted that he had asked for the very money he called wasteful, only he didn't realize he was doing it.

Oh, that's what he said. And yet he still insists the stimulus was a waste of money.

So, let's summarize.
  • He didn't ask for the money, it was a wasteful spending spree.
  • But then he asked for the money.
  • Only he didn't recall ever asking for it.
  • Then he did recall getting the money but he never realized he'd asked for it.

That's what you get from Paul Ryan. Either he's an unrepentant liar who wouldn't know the truth if it smacked him upside the head, or he's a complete moron who has no idea what he's doing, and why, and how.

Either way you look at it, if Romney/Ryan gets into the White House that will be our future.

Liars and idiots.
