Architecture Wednesday: 7 Ashley Park Road

This home is cool. I mean, c’mon a red grand piano? I don’t play, but Carlos does and he’d look spectacular tinkling those ivories. And this Toronto home is gorgeous on the inside, with a beautiful ravine-view lot outside; there are 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms in 7,200 square feet; oh, and it can be yours for just $4.2 million.

There are 10’ ceilings on main floor, and walls of glass, with 9’ foot ceilings on second floor; there is radiant in-floor heating throughout for those cold Canadian winters, but the best is downstairs: a climate controlled “Wine Wall’, including full glass wall and “Vintage View racks” on stone; pour me a Pinot, baby!

The kitchen includes Gaggeneau appliances, full freezer, full refrigerator, full height wine cooler — more space for my wines, you know — a dishwasher, coffee bar, an in-counter steamer, an in-counter Tappen- Yaki, a downdraft system and wall hood. It also features a 19’ long island and custom built cabinetry by Perola Kitchens.

There are high end bathroom fixtures, energy and water efficient appliances and fixtures; California Closets organizers; natural Stone counters.

The master suite has a private balcony and a custom built, white leather upholstered king-size bed, king-sized walk-in closet and bathtub with a view.

Let Carlos entertain you with a tune on the grand while I soak in the tub and enjoy a glass of something red.

  2. Spectacular indeed, though not even a very substantial lottery win could acquire it, I bet.
I too couldn't live with red being the only one of the 'rainbow' colours permitted. (Any other colour on its own, yes!)
But, my God! You wouldn't be able to move for an ever-present army of domestics there just to keep the whole damn beautiful thing clean.

  3. It looks cold, cold, cold! Too much white and black furnishings, especially in mid-winter. Canadian winters need warm colours inside; I should know.

  5. I'm not a fan of the decor. But oh how I'd love to redo that house!
