Architecture Wednesday: Newport Beach House

Just a little place near the beach is all I ask …and this is what happens.

An enormous “beach” house nestled between the beach and the bay in Newport Beach, California, built upon the remains of what was, no doubt, a formerly fabulous home that was razed to make way for this one.

Yet, unlike the original home, this one comes in at 12,610 square feet and looks more like a resort on 90-feetof bayfront than a single family home, but hey, the more the merrier, right? And y’all should have your own rooms, right?

Interestingly enough, when the owners first purchased the space, they intended to renovate the house that was already there, but after consulting with designers it was decided to demolish the old house and leave only the basement, upon which the new house stands.

A new house with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a home theatre, a home office, a gym, two bars—no waiting and a game room. Oh, and there’s also an attached 1,533 square feet garage for your fleet of automobiles. And because it’s a beach house, the views are stunning, with loads of windows on all floors, plus from the sprawling patio, the rooftop deck, or by the pool.

C’mon by, lounge by the pool, belly up to the bars, play some games, or just sun yourself at my little beach shack.

  1. Great views. Let’s build on ever square inch of footage. Look at me. I’m rich.
