Just days after _____ crony Betsy DeVos was confirmed as Education Secretary she was heckled by protestors, and prevented from entering, the Jefferson Academy, a public middle school in Washington.
And instantly DeVos began receiving around-the-clock security from the U.S. Marshals Service; it’s unclear who made the request but newly ousted Attorney General, and Keebler Elf, Jeff Sessions, granted the protection … protection that will cost We the People almost $20 million through September 2019.
The cost of security provided for Betsy, and let’s be clear, it’s because people yelled at her, was $5.3 million in 2017, $6.8 million for 2018, and an estimated $7.74 million for 2019.
The Marshals Service will ultimately be reimbursed by the Education Department; taking money from education to protect a rich white woman who’s scared of crowds.
And it isn’t lost on many people that DeVos’ security far exceeds the $3.5 million spent on security for ousted EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt; an EPA inspector general report revealed that the price tag for Pruitt’s security detail was "not justified" and far exceeded the security costs incurred under past EPA heads.
And yet for Betsy … because people shouted … $20 million.

ReplyDeleteI'm with @AM and @MM; Mrs deV should pay for her own security. Have been ranting today on having to fund the security for a very minor royal's wedding. Why can't Grandma pay? Mrs Queen is a VERY rich woman in her own right.
