Architecture Wednesday: Villa Yang Som

All six floors of Villa Yang Som hug the lush green hillside and provide commanding views of Phuket Island and the Andaman Sea, giving Villa Yang Som’s guests their very own secluded corner of paradise in Thailand.

The house is available for rent, though to one group at a time to ensure guests’ privacy, Villa Yang Som’s location, layout and staff services make it an ideal choice for large families or groups of friends, corporate retreats, weddings and special celebrations of every kind.

Designed to feel like a home away from home, this magnificent villa is decorated with handmade silks & teak furnishings, and is surrounded by lush palms and evident privacy. The villa’s handsome accommodations sleep up to 10 guests.

The outdoor areas overlooking Surin and Bang Tao beach area are idyllic for watching magical Thai sunsets with cocktails and pre-dinner canapés prepared by the Villa’s private chef. A state of the art sound system plus comfortable sofas with over-sized cushions below the towering Thai salas make Villa Yang Som the ultimate chill-out spot by the sea.

As you arrive on street level you are immediately met with an astounding structure that rises triumphantly skywards, towering above you with architectural magnificence, and when you step into the panoramic elevator you are gently ported to the main reception floor where you are greeted with sweeping spaces, water features and an abundance of teak.

This floor also boasts a large games room which can double up as a fifth bed room with en-suite bath room suitable for a large family with school-going children. A Thai style kitchen and a laundry room are also available on this level.

The elevator further opens onto an open reception area that comfortably seats up to forty guests. With a long bar at one end it is perfect for private parties and events, where guests can stroll off to the sala at the front and quietly enjoy the panorama of the Andaman Sea as it caresses the shores of Phuket island.

A raised gallery above the reception area leads off from the center to the 2nd elevator and Master Suite 4; and on the other side, a grand staircase meanders up the main living floor with an 18 meter infinity pool and a Jacuzzi.

This spacious Main entertainment floor incorporates open plan living, dining and entertainment areas beautiful stone terraces, an infinity pool, with trance-inducing views and an al fresco dining Sala for sanctuary from the midday sun. Cooled by tropical breezes and permeated by the rhythmic sounds of Phuket, Villa Yang Som provides a sensually engaging environment in which to unwind and rediscover your senses.

At the centre, an intimate sala is raised just above the infinity pool to offer you the best vantage point of the sea and landscape tantalizing your vision. The Sun decks spread out on both sides of the sala and ensure you are never to far from either basking in the warm sun or taking a brief respite from the heat.

Behind the deck is the living room and dining room, next to which a large and fully equipped kitchen that opens onto a large informal breakfast lounge. From there you can step out to the deck from other side of the sala – complete with a bar and professional service station.

This deck can seat 10 people comfortably – an ideal spot for a quiet breakfast in the early morning hours, or a barbecue dinner during sunset. At the other end of this floor is Master suite 3, complete with an adjoining study and its own balcony, the swimming pool just a mere footstep away.

From the 6th floor the half-moon sala looks over the infinity pool below, and is serviced by an adjoining bar. This floor is accessible by lift from the gallery on the 4th floor. The main master suite is just next to the half-moon sala, complete with a spacious study and panoramic views; a private deck to one side with a Jacuzzi and the double sliding doors open onto a panoramic deck for an overwhelming sense of space and tranquility and unending views.

An adjoining massage sala on this floor is the ideal place with which to indulge in traditional massage therapies that Thailand is world famous for, while on the other side of this floor is the 2nd Master Suite, also with its own Jacuzzi and study and commanding views.

I didn't get a price, but divided by twenty or so ..... ? Could be doable.
