Fifty-eight years ago today, on December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks refused to obey bus driver James Blake's order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger.
On this day, December 1, 2010, World AIDS Day, maybe we can take a page from Rosa's handbook, and as a community, of LGBT men and women, and LGBT-friendly men and women, refuse to take a back seat to anyone, anywhere, any time, ever, until we are all treated equally.
Thanks Rosa, for showing all of us how to take a stand.
I didn't realize that it happened before I was born.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely belongs in your hero category :-)
You gotta love a person with a big set of balls, and today, we are still thanking her and her courage.
