I Didn't Say It ...

John Boehner, Weeper of the House, on an ENDA [Employment Non-Discrimination Act] vote:
"I am opposed to discrimination of any kind, in the workplace and any place else. But I think this legislation that I’ve dealt with as chairman of The Education and The Workforce Committee…is unnecessary and would provide a basis for frivolous lawsuits. People are already protected in the workplace. I’m opposed to continuing this. Listen, I understand people have differing opinions on this issue, and I respect those opinions. But as someone who’s worked in the employment law area for all my years in the State House and all my years here, I see no basis or no need for this legislation."

Currently, people can still be fired simply for being gay in 29 states.
That’s not being protected.
Vote.Him.Out.
Jay Nixon, governor of Missouri, coming out for same-sex marriage and announcing that Missouri will accept joint tax returns from same-sex couples married in other states:
“Many Missourians, including myself, are thinking about these issues of equality in new ways and reflecting on what constitutes discrimination. For me, that process has led to the belief that we shouldn’t treat folks differently because of who they are.”

It really is that simple folks.
Ryan Reynolds, on the story about him taking his shirt off on a plane after someone vomited on him:
“That is utterly made-up. I don’t know where that stuff comes from. It’s fantastic, it sounds like a great story. Someone threw up on me in fifth grade. That was the last time it happened. Sherry Piper, while we were square dancing. Trafalgar Elementary School. Yeah, that was the last time.”

Still, the idea of shirtless Ryan … gimme a minute.
Liz Cheney, daughter of Hellhound Dick, once again restating her opposition to marriage equality in a lame-ass desperate attempt to win political office:
"I don't believe we ought to discriminate against people because of their sexual orientation. If people are in a same-sex relationship and they want their partner to be able to have health benefits or be designated as a beneficiary on their life insurance, there's no reason we shouldn't do that. I also don't support amending the constitution on this issue. I do believe it's an issue that got to be left up to the states. I do believe in the traditional definition of marriage. Listen, I love Mary very much. I love her family very much. This is just an issue on which we disagree."

Funny, you love your sister but think she is not your equal?
That ain’t love, Liz.
Heather Poe, Mary Cheney’s wife and Liz Cheney’ sister-in-law, on Liz’s anti-equality stance:
"I was watching my sister-in-law on Fox News Sunday (yes Liz, in fifteen states and the District of Columbia you are my sister-in-law) and was very disappointed to hear her say "I do believe in the traditional definition of marriage. ... Liz has been a guest in our home, has spent time and shared holidays with our children, and when Mary and I got married in 2012 - she didn't hesitate to tell us how happy she was for us. To have her now say she doesn't support our right to marry is offensive to say the least I can't help but wonder how Liz would feel if as she moved from state to state, she discovered that her family was protected in one but not the other. I always thought freedom meant freedom for EVERYONE."

Not in Liz Cheney’s world, which is why I hope the people of Wyoming send her pandering ass packing.
Dick Cheney, on the kerfuffle between his daughters over marriage equality:
"This is an issue we have dealt with privately for many years, and we are pained to see it become public. Since it has, one this should be clear, Liz has always believed in the traditional definition of marriage. She has always treated her sister and her sister's family with love and respect, exactly as she should have done. Compassion is called for, even when there is a disagreement about such a fundamental matter and Liz's many kindnesses shouldn't be used to distort her position."

I don’t like Cheney, I think he is evil incarnate, but, BUT, when even Dick Cheney can come down on the side of equality, then his daughter should be able to so as well.
This just reeks of Daddy trying to help his baby girl win political office; at the expense of his other child, you know, the gay one.
Marco Rubio, Republican, Florida senator, asshat and liar — see post HERE — speaking to the virulently anti-gay group Florida Family Policy Council:
"The moral well-being of our nation is our business. It's everybody's business. The debate we should be having isn't whether or not we have a right to talk about values and morals in the public square, the debate we should be having instead is which values and morals our nation should focus on."

Marco? You’re an idiot.
You are not elected to set the course, change the course, keep the course, of the morality of this country. You are elected to legislate the will of the people not use your own morality to demonize anyone because of their sexual orientation.
You’re wrong, and you’re an idiot.
Kanye West, bloviating … again:
“People get mad at me saying that I am a creative genius, but it’s just obvious. It’s, like, factual. I would write creative genius when I go through the airport…I would put that on customs [forms], where you put what your title is, except for two reasons: it takes too long to write and sometimes I spell the word genius wrong.”

It takes too long and he can’t spell genius.
Asked and answered.
Candace Gingrich, Newt's gay sister, on the Cheney family feud
“The struggle that the Cheney family is going through is one that lots and lots of families go through when it comes to LGBT family members. I feel for them, because it’s magnified about 8,000 times, but the bottom line is that one sister does not accept the basic right of her other sister. Nobody running for office should be espousing that anyone should have less opportunity and less rights than anyone else.”

Um, like your brother once did?
Whom Candace has nearly always distanced herself from, and rightly so.

  1. I wonder if mothers of kids such as RyanR ever get used to waiting in the checkout line at the store and reading the headlines about their child.

If someone really had thrown up on Ryan, I wonder how many people would offer to lick his chest clean because they would be able to lick his chest.

  7. The living God, creator of ALL things, and flesh, also has the first and last word on this matter. But who will listen, if pride goes before us first.
