Calling All Gays....Or Straight People With Taste....or Gay or Straight People With An Opinion

So, I've repainted the living room from it's Country Bumpkin Chic, to something a little more modern and, well, me! I have one long Chocolate-y Gray wall that will soon be home to some watercolors we have, but I am in a dilemma as to which grouping.
So, what do you think? [click 'em, they emBIGGERate]

Grouping 1:
The Native American watercolor, as well as the two to the right, are being re-matted with simple white mats.

Grouping Two:
The same tow, at the right, will be re-matted in this grouping too.

Whichever is selected, the Crocus watercolor, or the Native American watercolor, the other will be placed on another wall of the living room.

  1. The first one, but I would make a small change. Always (make that, in most cases) weigh to the bottom, i.e., dark or large to the bottom. What I am referring to is, on the left two, put the larger one under the smaller one.

BTW, I love the Native American piece, and it definitely should be your focal point in the group, as you have done.

    Great choices, Bob.

  2. The crocus. The portrait should be a stand-alone piece given its gravity, which takes away from the other works when grouped with them. Also I would suggest switching the piece on the upper left with the piece on the lower right (when grouped with the crocus), to balance the color...

But then, you must find what brings you peace in the arrangement, and they are very lovely.

  3. The second one. Because the character in the first one is watching me....

  4. The Native American piece I think deserves placement by itself :-) but alas that is just me they both look good.

  5. What Wally said... My thoughts exactly... Who knew the bitch has taste...
I'm loving the Crocus watercolour if it ever needs a new home... Hello!

I'm with Wally. The American Indian piece should have a place of its own. I really, really like the second picture as a group. Keep those together.

  7. I love the Native American Pic, I clicked em and indeed, he got bigger.

I would group him w/ the two colorful pieces on the left and just keep it a grouping of 3

  9. Im with eveeryone else. I say 2nd grouping because the native piece would stand better alone. Great pieces tho!

  10. I really have not taste but I vote for the second one also. I like the colors of the Crocus with the other pictures in the grouping and I agree that the Indian portrait would stand alone well.

  11. Bob, I like grouping two. As others have said, give the Native American piece stand alone status. It is strong enough to do so.

  12. I agree with those who said the second grouping with the Native American on its own. Also agree about some color balancing by switching a couple of them. I also prefer the larger one on the left on the bottom instead of that smaller one below it. I have to keep moving things around to get them right. Used to drive my husband crazy.
