Architecture Wednesday: Renovated Flat in Barcelona

This flat is located in the heart of Barcelona’s Dreta de l'Eixample neighborhood known for its architectural landmarks like Antoni Gaudí’s La Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló. Part of an Art Nouveau building that dates back to 1900, this is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, fully renovated apartment near the city’s lively Passeig de Sant Joan promenade.

The 1,400-square-foot apartment recently underwent a careful restoration and renovation that maintained original design elements, including the shallow-arched, Catalan-vaulted ceilings and colorful tile floors that stretch across the main gathering spaces.

Through the front door an entry hallway leads to the living and dining areas, opened up to be a large open space that also integrates into an open kitchen. At the far end of the main room is a small private balcony that overlooks a courtyard.

The three bedrooms and two full baths are all tucked away on the opposite end of the floor plan to ensure ample privacy for residents, while the primary suite has its own small balcony.

Had I moved a little faster this could have been all mine … and, yes, Carlos’ too, if I’d had the 800K a few months ago.

I need to start saving again.

  4. Now you had me at Barcelona and Europe. Now I absolutely love this place because it feels like a large apartment. And this has SO MUCH character and amibiance. The floor and beamed ceilings are gorgeous, and what's not to love about all the Mediterranean tile throughout in the bathrooms? When can I move in?

  5. Well, Barcelona AND Loft? Sold.
I love the light and the way they have structured the space because it does not feel confining. Buildings from the beginning of the 20th century tended to be a little bit chopped up. And those bathrooms!!
    800K you said?

    XOXO

    1. I agree; love the views front and back and the tiles. I would snap this up in a heartbeat if I had a few more coins.

  6. Pretty! Wonder what the common charges are like in a building that old?

    1. I'd say I don't care because the apartment is so fabulous, but I imagine, with the way the stairwells and lobby look it's pricey!

  7. Charming. I can furnish it better, but I enjoy that anyway. So sorry we missed out on this opportunity... as if we had the 800,000 a few months ago.

  8. Very nice. I love the simplicity and the clean lines throughout. I can totally imagine living there... with such grace. My only complaint would be the colored tile in the bathroom... No. In all three cases. Poor choices - size and color. Thanks, Bob!

  9. Barcelona is a beautiful city! I'm not crazy about the decor or the tiles in the apartment but the price doesn't seem unreasonable for that amount of space and the location.

  10. Love it!! That front door is to die for. The detail of the stair railings. Love the the bathrooms-color. I could enjoy myself there and make a little extra Christmas money by renting out a few of the bedrooms. Maybe. I choose the availability and screen like hell.

Spain is a great place to retire -- https://myspainvisa.com/best-places-retire-spain/ "Barcelona city is one of the best places to retire in Spain. It is very rich in modern architecture plus its many tourist attractions. It attracts tourists from all over the world to come and witness and enjoy what the sunny seaport has to offer."

  12. Truly lovely, sweetpea! The only issue I had with tile floors in Spain was they were so unforgiving when you had to stand on them for any length of time barefooted. xoxo
