Sunday Funnies: Sochi Olympics

  1. Really awful. And I have no interest in watching the games this year. I did watch the opening ceremonies, but I was just sour all the way through. It was at least satisfying to watch the IOC president take a subtle poke at Putin and human rights... and the German rainbow clothing.

  2. @Mitchell
I agree. I'll get my Olympic news via the internet.
I'm especially annoyed that NBC edited out the part of the IOC president's speech where he jabbed Putin. We didn't get to hear talk of tolerance and anti-discrimination here in the US.

  3. Say Bob, wouldn't you agree it was quite ironic that the Russian athletes marched into the opening ceremonies to the song "We Will Rock You" by Queen (the late, great Freddy Mercury) following all of the discriminating remarks by Putin and others of gays in that country?
While I am not a big fan of the Olympics, I did notice that during the brief time I was watching some of the coverage on television.

  5. I missed that Jim, but it just shows how unaware they must be about who is gay, and what contributions the gays have made to the world.

  6. I can't believe NBC edited out the most important part of that speech! One improvement regarding the coverage here is that it's not censored. I do love the fact (well not really) that on Russian television the Olympic Rings transformation and fireworks display functioned as they were supposed to and not as they really did.
