Jean Stapleton, most well-known for playing Edith to Carroll O'Connor's Archie, on All In The Family, passed away at her home at the age of 90. If you never saw her as Edith you do not know what you're missing ....
Hi Bob, I have missed you! I was sad to hear this. My all time favorite show ever. These two together had unparalleled chemistry. I could watch her for hours. I can also do Archie's voice to a tee. And her plays were very good as well.
I have a very vivid memory of her in the hospital waiting room and picking up a copy of Play Girl. Dark hair and eyes, hairy chest and a 70's porn stache - explains so much about my taste in men.
That was one of THE best TV shows ever made. I think my favorite episode was the one where Edith is going through menopause, she loses it at Archie and yells, "Stifle... Stifle Stifle Stifle!"
she was a genius, wasn't she? RIP, edith.
ReplyDeleteTo the great sit-com in the sky :-)
