I Didn't Say It ...

Johnathon Schaech, actor, on "dating” Ellen DeGeneres:

“My manager asked me to accompany her to events. She was scared people would not watch the show, her sitcom Ellen, because she was gay.  It was an honor. I grew up with two gay aunts and a gay uncle. My aunt died of cancer. She was a proud woman and she didn’t get proper care because she didn’t want to be away from her partner. Hospitals didn’t allow partners the same rights as a spouse. When you have someone you love in your life that is gay or a lesbian it’s very clear that they deserve the same rights as anyone else.”

Wow. Now, I’m not a lesbian, though I have played one on TV, but I would love to have Johnathon Schaech be my beard.
Heck, if Carlos is busy, he can be my beard tonight.
DeRay Mckesson, Black Lives Matter activist and candidate for mayor of Baltimore, on being an out gay black man:

“One of the many unintended consequences of the [Black Lives Matter] movement has been opening up space for talking about the complexity of black identity and that blackness is not monolithic. It’s so many things to so many people. People have different identities. We’re talking about the trans community in public in ways that we haven’t before. As a gay black man it’s important to me to show up — that I’m able to show up as my whole self, in every space that I’m in, because that’s how I’m able to be the most true to who I am.”

We are all, each of us, at our cores, human beings, and from there on out comes the differences that make us both unique and alike.
Lilly Wachowski, having recently come out as a trans female:

“My sister likes to joke, you can’t write this shit.’ Where do we find the courage to break free of the boxes of our lives, to transcend an overcome tragedy? The monsters within and the violence we do to ourselves when we are too afraid to be who we really are. And while the ideas of identity and transformation are components of our work, the bedrock that all ideas rest upon is love. Love is a crucial thing for transgender people, it’s a tether.”

Beautifully said, and what a wonderful thing to finally be able to live, and embody, your truth.
Ivana Trump, agreeing with her ex-husband about that wall:

“I have nothing against Mexicans, but if they [come] here — like this 19-year-old, she’s pregnant, she crossed over a wall ... she gives the birth in American hospital, which is for free. The child becomes American automatically. She brings the whole family, she doesn’t pay the taxes, she doesn’t have a job, she gets the housing, she gets the food stamps. Who’s paying? You and me. As long as you come here legally and get a proper job, we need immigrants. Who’s going to vacuum our living rooms and clean up after us? Americans don’t like to do that.”

Dear Goddess, this woman is as delusional and stupid and self-entitled and out-of-touch and racist as her ex-husband.
Ivanathrowup.
Ellen DeGeneres, using her TV show, to set Mississippi straight … so to speak:

“I don’t know what Mr. Sippy is doing but I’m very worried about Mississippi. I’m not a political person, I’m really not. But this is not politics, this is human rights. And when I see something wrong I have to talk about it….so this issue is very personal to me. First of all, Mississippi is the only state I know how to spell. Second of all, that is the definition of discrimination. It is also something that the Supreme Court already ruled on when they made marriage a right for everyone. Everyone. The Supreme Court said the same thing that Diana Ross and the Supremes said a long time ago: Stop in the name of love. And now Mississippi is saying, I don’t second that emotion. Imagine this. Two cupcakes walk into a flower shop and they want to buy a dozen roses. But the florist doesn’t believe in selling flowers to cupcakes because they don’t have any money. But gay people do, so sell them the damn flowers! If you’re in Mississippi or North Carolina or anywhere and you’re saddened by the fact that people are judging you based on who you love, don’t lose hope. I was fired for being gay. And I know what it feels like. I lost everything. But look at me now … I could buy that governor’s mansion, flip it, and make a seven million dollar profit.”

Nailed it. With humor, too.

  3. I love Ellen more every day! It's no surprise that idiot Ivana married that other idiot and just listen to their offspring, too. Nope. No surprise.

  4. No, Ivana. Giving birth in an American hospital is NOT free. Emergency rooms are not allowed to turn patients away, but they don't provide anything for free. This made-up Mexican girl will be getting a bill from the hospital that will likely bankrupt her.

  5. Ivana Stump didn't get where she is today by NOT being an immigrant....anymore than the current Mrs Stump; hypocrisy rules

I don't usually comment on celebrities but I "discovered" Johnathon Schaech and fell in lust when Leon and I rented an obscure but campy movie called "Welcome to Woop Woop" an Australian film by the director of "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" (it's on YouTube now) We have watched the film many times and just love the humor and gay sensibility (and the eye candy).
