Architecture Wednesday: Waterfall Bay House

Waterfall Bay House is located in a remote bay in the Marlborough Sounds at the north of the South Island of New Zealand is Waterfall Bay House.

While last week we went old school, er, old church, with a full blast of modern, this week we're headed back to nature, with a Zen-inspired home.

The house emphasizes the intimate qualities of the small bay upon which it sits, with living spaces on the top floor, and bedrooms below.

It's the ultimate getaway. Private. lush.

Where I can be a lush in private.

Just sayin'.

  2. Very nice. I'll grab the Lad and it will be a modern day On Golden Pond! But you had me at "Where I can be a lush in private."

  3. Love the lush trees and lovely water. Adored your comment about "being a lush in private", but the inside of the house? Meh X 1,000,000.
The rooms are squat and rather confining, with little connection to that fantastic outdoors. I would have thought that such a lovely area would inspire soaring ceilings, large open spaces, calm spaces to reflect upon the eden right outside.

  4. Reminds me of Edward's home in Twilight. I adore all the windows.

  5. Can I just have that bathtub? Please? (Well, OK, maybe the view from the bathtub, too?)
